"Wow, thanks dad. The day has been totally awesome!" Johnson continued to lick his Ice cream. Victor stared awkwardly as his son came into view. They were both at a parlor eating ice cream in the evening just before dusk.

Victor looked around and looked back at his son. "Dad, you alright? Seems, like you're were misplaced."
"No-no just got the willies." Then Victor's cousin came from around the corner.

"Victor, Johnny, I spent all day trying to find the two of you." Looking at Victor like he wanted him to turn on his phone and his pager. Victor rolled his eyes and turned on his phone. 45 missed calls.

"Say Johny want to buy me another ice cream cone" Then handing Johny twenty bucks, "keep the change."

The boy now out of hearing range. "Victor, where have you been all day?"
"He's my son I can take him where ever I want." Though it was disconcerting that he didn't even know what he had been doing

"Look Victor, I'm just trying to do what's best for Johnson. Not your pride Going on a father son day excursion is not going to make everything all pretty. Victor, I want you to stay away."
Not wanting to let his emotions to get out of control, Victor slurped his beverage. Gak! it had gin in it, Marco!

Coming over with a big sundae. Johnson beamed "this what you wanted?"
"that's great Johny, say what have you guys been up to today?"
"Noth'n, went to the Zoo, the Bar 'n' listened to some jazz. Went to the race track. You know just stuff."

Victors phone rang. Jerry looked at Victor as if to say, see its going to start all over... "well it's a school night, let's head home Johny." the ringing persisted in the background. "you might want to answer that."
Victor "oh I'll answer that." surprisingly enough he did and got distracted by his Sargent yelling questions at him he barely even noticed that Johny had already left.

In the Van. and driving down one of the mains.
Johnson "is my dad really that bad."
looking over Victor's cousin realized Johny wasn't that oblivious, and probably knew the situation. "no Johny he's not... he just needs to set his priorities." he then turned down a familiar avenue.

Victor ran out into the side walk looking both ways and cursed into the wind. He'd missed them. just like the way he's been missing things for a while...

"Victor I'm not sure what you did to that hospital but $&$*%@& there are some men here to who want to talk to you."

The next day Johnson headed out to school. His father hadn't been in all night. All through school he wondered that possessed his dad yesterday to go all California on him. But he didn't let it bother him much, or at least he tried. Tomorrow as another day and for now he could hang out at Rains house... that is if she's not still in trouble.
