I woke from my troubled delirium to notice Rachel return with Allison. I tried but failed at sitting up and then she asked me the question.
"Rachel please wait outside," I whispered. After she'd left I sighed, "I didn't want her to hear where I'd been shot. The entry point is not where you'd guess it'd be for what got it."
Allison made a strange face, "Where'd you get shot?"
I pointed to my lower chest, "That's where it entered but I was at a funny angle and it ascended my torso." My finger was moving up along my chest.
"Where?" She insisted.
"This isn't easy for me," I frowned. "Normally I heal on my own but this is, different. All of my own strength is being used to simply keep me alive."
She put a hand on my chest and her face became one of horror, "How are you still alive?"
I chuckled, "I'm not sure how human I really am. Normally a bullet that pierces the heart on both sides is fatal, almost instantly. My magic is forcing my body to operate with an injured, dying heart, but I don't think it will be able to hold on much longer."
She placed her other hand over my heart and I could feel a soothing calmness overwhelm my body, despite the stress it was under. After a few minutes, she nearly collapsed. She backed away and frowned.
"I guess you too have your limits," I smirked. "Don't worry I should be fine now. Think of it as useful exercise combined with practical experience."
"Well I should probably go rejoin the others now," She replied.
"Thank you," I said after her. Rachel entered immediately. "I'll be fine, you go have fun alright?"
Based on how I no longer showed pain on my face she was relieved enough to follow after Allison. I allowed myself to sleep. I'd be fully restored in the morning.
