Ivar

I hung up the phone with Jessica so suddenly because, well, my mom was calling. I excused myself and walked outside the house.

"Hi mom," I said coyly. "How are things going over there?"

Her face showed she wasn't amused, "Don't try and get me sidetracked. The principal called today and told me you got in a fight with a girl and got suspended."

Yep, I knew she'd hit both topics at once. She was decidedly the calmer of my two parents and I was glad she had answered but still, she would probably be more angry I'd fought a girl than been suspended. That is until she found out he wanted to expel us.

No point making excuses, "I'm sorry mom."

"You are grounded," She said concretely. "Get back here right now."

I begged, "I already had something set up tonight though. Come on."

She resigned after a few more minutes of my begging, "Fine you can have tonight and I know you are other eighteen but you are still in high school."

"I know thanks mom." I hung up before she could say anything else. I hadn't technically lied about that night. I was planning something for that night, I just hadn't asked Jessica yet.

I knocked on the door again and Mrs. Landon opened the door, "Yes Ivar?"

"Hey I'm leaving got some things to do. Let Rain know so she doesn't think I just ditched her." She nodded as I walked back and got in my car.

I pressed a button on my watch phone and said, "Call Jess."

Her number rang for a few moments and then she picked up, she looked relieved, "Hi Ivar."

"Hey Jess, how are things down there?"

She looked suspicious, "Things here are good. My dad saw your video, he thought it was a video project. Actually it looks like most people think it's a video project."

"Let's do something tonight," I said suddenly before she could say more.

"What?"

"I know I told you when we started dating that I wouldn't ask you with less than two days notice bu--" She cut me off.

"Alright let's do it." She said suddenly. I could tell she wanted to see me.

"I'll see you in..." I paused giving her a chance to fill in the number.

"Ten minutes," She really had something on her mind. "I'll meet you at your house."

"See you then," I hung up after her salutation and started my car up and went back home. A few minutes after I got inside I saw her pull up and head for the door.

"Hey Ivar," My little brother poked his head into my room. "Do you wanna see something really cool?"

"No little bro," I stood and walked out and down the stairs.

I opened the door and smiled as she walked in and planted a kiss on my lips. A few moments later I grinned, "What was that for?"

She put her forehead against mine and, smiling, whispered, "I'll tell you later."

It was still early so I urged her up to my room, "Come on. I have to tell you something."

She obliged and I locked the door behind me so my little brother didn't wander in and see what I was going to show her. She sat at the foot of my bed and I sat near the head.

"First thing," I began. "I was suspended until further notice and the principal wants us both expelled."

"Did you really use magic and throw rocks?" She asked.

I nodded, "What's your power?"

She concentrated with her right hand outstretched and, after a few minutes, I saw a small flame appear hovering above the palm of her hand. I grinned and couldn't help the pun.

"That's hot."

She gently punched me with her free hand. The flame faded at the same time.
