We proceeded to, I guess practice is the best word, practice our powers for the next few hours. It became evident to both of us very quickly that if we overextended ourselves we could become physically tired and even faint, perhaps die if we did too much. Right now our powers were quite limited but that was the idea of practice.
My phone rang and I answered, smiling, "Hi daddy."
"Hi sweetie," He smiled back. "I needed to talk to you. There should be a car there soon."
I looked at the time and noted it was an hour past my curfew. I didn't protest, "Alright, I'm sorry time slipped away from me."
"It's okay," He reassured. "That's not what I was going to talk to you about."
Ivar poked his head in to see, "Hello Mr President."
He smirked and shook his head, "Hello Ivar, taking good care of my daughter I assume?"
Ivar's face became uncharacteristically serious and he nodded, "Yes sir."
"I'll see you in a few minutes daddy," I let him say goodbye before I hung up the phone. I looked out the window and saw the car. "Well I better be off."
Ivar gave me a kiss before I walked to the door, "We are really lucky your parents didn't walk in on us."
He smirked and joked, "I promise I have a sixth sense."
"Oh yes I recall you mentioned that before. Well I promise to help you with that," I closed the door and got down and into the vehicle. My body began to ache like I'd done something extreme with magic. I looked around and didn't see any fire. I hoped the driver wouldn't notice my convulsions on the way home. I got there and felt truly awful. I went straight to my room, trying to avoid my dad. Unfortunately he was in my room.
"Hi Jessica," He said. Oh no, he used my full name. That's not a good thing. He took a closer look, "You look exhausted, what were you two doing?"
Oh man, I can't answer that but if I don't he might think we were...
"Uh, I, um, er," I stammered.
He grinned and appeared to be going to take it easy on me as he stood, "Did you know you were sick at the same time in the same hospital with the same sickness?"
"What?"
"You and Ivar," He answered. "A few years ago, before I was president, some people came to me and told me about something that had, at the time, seemed too fantastic to believe. They told me you had been affected too but I blew them off and told them I'd have them arrested if they came near you again."
My nerves were going crazy and I still felt like I was being drained by something. Strangely, I could still make sense of his words, "Oh daddy."
"From what research I've recently had my people do, Ivar and that Rain Storm girl both were affected by the same event that you were also supposedly affected by."
"Ok?" I wasn't sure where he was going.
"So I need to know," He took a deep breath. "Do those powers really exist? Were you given magical powers?"
I wanted not to answer him because I knew I couldn't outright lie to such a direct question. I found myself nodded and I fell face down in my pillow and began to cry, my body hurt so badly.
He sat down next to me and put a hand on my back, "If you want to talk about it sometime just let me know. I'll cancel whatever meeting I'm in and give you the time you deserve."
I turned to him and wrapped my arms around his next and he saw the tears. His concern grew when my face showed the pain as I could no longer contain it.
"What happened?"
"It's Ivar." I answered. I quickly continued as he looked very angry, "Something he said, I think he accidentally cast a spell that was more than we could manage."
"Will you be alright?" He had a genuine reason for concern. I imagine I did not look well.
I nodded, "We'll both be fine, I promise." My body convulsed again, as if responding to the command, the pain began to ease and I fell asleep before I realized it.

is "we'll be fine" a command? I thought the magic only applied if people said stuff like "I promise we'll both be kind" or something with the word "promise".
ReplyDeleteit's because they were messing around with it so much in his room, it will weaken after they rest but i can change it
ReplyDeletemaybe if affects statements as well, I Will be fine. I will not rest until. though i guess we'll/ we will be fine... that should go before the council and hash out all the magic stuff
