There was a knock on the door. I quickly jumped up from the over sized recliner I was curled up in, careful not to spill my popcorn. I pushed pause on the TV. I was very surprised to see Ivar standing there dressed up like an officer.
"What is this, a joke? Halloween already?"
His companion, Kimberly nearly snorted trying not to laugh. He grunted uncomfortably, "Can we come in? There is something very important we need to talk to you about."
"When was the last time you saw your friend Johnson, miss." Kimberly interrupted and pushed past me into the house. I quickly shut off the TV, I couldn't let Ivar know I was watching a chick flick, I had a reputation to uphold.
"Please sit down," I mumbled, "excuse the mess. I haven't seen Johnson since he came over last night."
"And what was he doing here, exactly?" she walked around the room with a pencil and notepad as if she was some sort of detective. I looked at Ivar with an expression of, what's with her? He just shrugged and smirked a little.
"It's hard to say, we were just playing some video game when he suddenly jumped up and ran into the bathroom."
"That's awkward." Ivar said nonchalantly.
"Ok, what happened after that?"
"No, you don't get it. He stayed in the bathroom for an hour until his uncle came to get him."
"His uncle?" they said in unison.
"Yeah, if you ask me, he's got a big stick up his butt."
They looked at me in disbelieve.
"Uh, I mean, he's very strict." I tried to save myself.
"And where does this uncle live?" Kimberly asked, dismissing my previous comment.
"I don't know. He wouldn't tell me. He doesn't really like my family that much. He thinks we tried to drown the kid or something. We think John decided to take a shower with all his clothes on."
They raised their eyebrows at me, "You've been very helpful, but if you could just tell us the uncle's name. . ." she nearly begged.
"I don't know. Jerry or something."
"Is he Victor's brother? Or brother-in-law?"
"I have no idea! We're not that close, I mean, I just met the guy yesterday."
"John never talks about his family, does he?" Ivar interjected.
"Let's just say, it's a VERY sensitive subject. He came over here whenever his old man ditched him. I think his uncle is trying everything to make sure John doesn't end up like his dad."
"Well, thank you for your time, miss. If you hear anything don't hesitate to call." She handed me a little card with their names and a number labeled "secret services."
"Right. See you later then, officer." I winked at Ivar.
He gave me a confused look, a little embarrassed.
Once outside, Kimberly grumbled, "well, that was almost as pointless as the police station. Though, we did learn one thing, John like to shower with his clothes on." she said sarcastically, as if the information was irrelevant.
Ivar thought about it to himself for a minute, he was all wet? I highly doubt he was taking a shower.
