(I'm gonna hit both in a single shot and I think you'll like it, though you might want a different one as well for one of the two.)
I was about to ask Sterling a question when my phone buzzed. I looked at it and swore under my breath. I found the navigation console and pointed.
"I want to go right there," I said. Everyone watched me for an explanation. "It's someone I know and is in trouble."
Sterling had been the only one to act before I had moved. Trying to make conversation on the way there, "So how did the war go?"
"What war?" Sterling looked at me funny for a moment before looking back at the controls.
I slapped my head, "Right that would have been millennia ago. My ancestors left because of a war that was about to start. They didn't want to be part of it."
Sterling started laughing, "Oh that. Yeah well, before it started some guy came along, I forget his name, and settled the dispute."
"Just like that?" I was dumbfounded. "Wow, what did he do?"
"He made a separate planet for those who disagreed so they wouldn't have to run into each other all the time. He took an existing planet, made it habitable, moved it and made it orbit the other. So now where we used to have one planet we now have two," Sterling shrugged like it was unimportant. "At least that's what they taught me in school. I've been in stasis for a while, but I guess you would have realized that judging by the fact I said it took years and I'm only a kid."
I nodded, "Right here will do." I gave the kid coordinates for our base, "Go there and wait for me to return and do be stealthy about it. This planet isn't turning out to be he most friendly place. Not like the old days at all."
"You mean when they practically worshiped your ancestors," Sterling chuckled. "I heard about that."
I rolled my eyes, "Rain there could be trouble come on." I could sense some protest from her father, "Don't argue with me right now."
We got into the airlock and I push her out, seeing as she didn't want to jump from however high we were. I jumped out after her and let myself fall a few thousand feet before donning my armor. I swept down and caught Rain. I slowed our descent and made a peaceful landing about a half mile from the house. I pulled out my gun and began my approach through the field. I removed the armor.
Rain followed close behind. The house was in a meadow with a single road in. There were several vehicles parked around the house. I heard a door getting kicked in and a female voice scream.
"Cover me Rain," I knew several people would stay outside. I just hoped they didn't expect help.
One vantage to the house was uncovered and I snuck in and through a window. Inside I heard a male voice upstairs asking about a baby. The voice was familiar.
"I don't know where she is," I heard a woman say. "I swear I don't know."
That seemed to sate his curiosity, "Fine, search the house. Find that child. If you continue to refuse to blank your powers, you'll have to come with us as well."
I turned the corner and saw someone coming down the stairs. I fired my gun and it worked as expected. He fell unconscious, it did, however, make a louder noise than I'd hoped for.
"We've got company," I heard the man say, probably to his friends outside. I hurried up the stairs and blankly fired a few shots down the hall. I heard some thuds and peeked around the bend. I saw a few men on the ground. I heard a commotion below me and hurried into the upstairs hall.
I saw her sitting on a chair, tied up. I motioned for her to be quiet. I put on my armor just in case and walked into the room. Something smashed me over the head and gave me a slight headache. I turned and faced the attacker. Victor was standing there. I sighed.
I grabbed him by the throat and held him over my head, "Of all the people you could have been caught going after, this was probably the worst one Victor." I started to squeeze.
"Jared," The girl behind me commanded. "Put him down."
I threw him against the wall and he fell limply to the ground.
"What did you mean when you said you didn't know where your baby was?" I asked her. "And who was the lucky guy anyways?"
"It's not what you think Jared," She stood up as I untied her. A few men appeared in the hallway and I raised my gun to shoot.
(Go go Rain :P)
