Kim

I'd been observing them for quite some time now. I had gotten used to the idea of there being two of me, but now that there was only me again it seemed odd. The other Kim was less skilled than myself and made it a habit to get killed, which drained both of us. I of course did everything in my power to stay alive. Unknown to them, I was actually living in the same place as them.

A few times I ran into Jared, Kindra or Rachel, but I told them I was just a memory. They didn't believe me of course, but they understood that I wanted to remain hidden. I just wish my other half hadn't been so foolish.

Now that it was all over, I felt safe to come out of hiding. I was a lot older than they had remembered me, I had survived many decades. I met Sterling and Rain face to face. I stood in their way.

"Excuse us." Rain said politely.

"You can't go."

"What? Who are you? And what right do you have. . ." then it hit him, "Kim? But we thought you were dead."

"Not yet. But this will be the last time I die." I said humbly, "You can't leave. The virus has already effected you and will eventually effect your ship. You will never make it home. And if you did, you would destroy them. There is no way of knowing how this virus would effect your people, it's best not to risk it."

"She's right." Rain slipped her hand into his and squeezed it tight, "Besides, Kindra needs us. And Rachel's son needs a playmate." she grinned warmly.

"Then it's settled. Come on, let's go tell the others we're not leaving after all."

"Please walk slow," I started, "I don't have the strength that I used to have. My old age is catching up to me. Now that the virus has taken over my body, I suspect I only have a short time left before I can finally cross over to the other side."

"You've been looking forward to this for a long time, haven't you?" Rain said as she put her arm around me.

"Longer than you'll ever know." I winked, "suffice it to say, I was there when Noah built his ark."

CONCLUSION:
Once they all met up again, they went deep into hiding. Kim only survived a few more hours. Rain and Rachel both gave birth to beautiful baby boys. Sterling stepped in to be father to both boys. And the rest is history. . .

Sometime in the past

Mike and Kim were left at the door in a panic. Then Mike realized something, he had the same ability as the man who invented the door in the first place. He got the door open in time for a few people to enter before a hoard of arrows came whizzing through the trees. One hit Kim and another hit him. He thought they were goners until a familiar woman pulled them into the fortress and shut the door.

They could hear the turmoil outside, but knew that they would be safe in the fortress. Kindra smiled when she recognized the girl she had rescued, "I knew you would come back for us."

Mike was genuinely confused, and even more so when Kim gasped her last breath of air and suddenly turned into a happy healthy five year old. Kindra could see his confusion and decided to tell him what was going on.

"She is one of the ancients, we believe. As far as we know, she can't die. When she dies she is reborn. The only problem is, as time goes by she loses her memories that were once restored with every birth."

"Why is that?" Mike was feeling faint.

"I don't know, we figure she just blocks out all the horrible things she seen in her life."

"I see. I don't mean to cut you off, but I haven't got a lot of time left. I need to tell you some things."

"Go on." She put his head on her lap and listened intently.

"You need to warn them."

"Warn who?"

"The last generation. My generation. Terrible things are going to happen if you don't warn them."

"I see." he countenance grew dim

"No, you need to be the light. You're the only hope these kids will have. And your son, Jared. You need to start creating him as soon as possible. . ."

"What? I'm not even married."

"Please, I. . .I'm fading fast. Do this last thing for me, when I die cut off my arm so you will always be able to open this door."

It was the last thing he said. Kindra sat helplessly holding this stranger in her arms. Just then a man entered the room. "He's right. The first thing we need to do is try to save as many of this generation first."

--Flash Forward in time--
Kindra and the man (Jared's father) have been locked away for some time. Every once in a while they had tried to mentally make a baby. Their first few attempts failed and ended in still birth or miscarriages. The guards were starting to get wise to the situation, so Kindra developed a new power that manipulated the minds of the guards to see her starving and thin instead of pregnant.

This was difficult to maintain because they kept switching guards on her. Mike was one of the successful births (the others had been killed by the government as soon as they were discovered). Luckily, there was a new man in charge, and he decided he wanted to study Mike. So he raised him as his own. Mike was never told where he had come from or anything about magic.

Eventually, his adopted father discovered that Mike didn't have any powers and decided to train him to be a super soldier. To his dismay, Mike wasn't interested in killing people, but instead interested in the advances in technology.

Kim had been killed a few times, and as Kindra predicted suppressed most of her memories. The only memory she kept was her combat training. She was discovered by the government in the 70s, killed, then reborn. So they decided to keep a close eye on her and try to raise her as their own. She, of course, rebelled and ran away. Being naive, she didn't survive on the streets very long. Eventually in the 2004 she was reborn again, and managed to find an orphanage to live in.

Needless to say, the government was very excited to discover her in high school in the 2020. She was 16 and very persuadable. As soon as she graduated and turned 18 the government owned her.

Since technically there were two Kim's living in that window of time between when she arrived in the past and when she left the present, only one Kim retained her memories. Once she was out of that window of time, the original Kim came out of hiding. This Kim is completely different from the Kim that we are familiar with. She has never met any of the other characters but knows all about them, since she retains all of the memories that her other self forgot as well as her own.

Confusing? Yes. That's time travel for you.

Sterling

I watched helplessly as Rachel and Kindra tried to fight Deothanos. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to try what Kindra had suggested. Only instead of speeding up time for Deothanos I actually froze time. Somehow I had managed to focus the magic only on him, but it only lasted a minute. Jared had come in while I was attempting to help and had somehow taken that power from me.

I wasn't angry, but it made me feel more helpless. As they struggled to get the Jewl from one another, I discovered that I had another ability that I wasn't aware of. As the Jewl slipped from Jared's hand and headed towards Deothanos I stopped it midair. It just floated there between the three of us for a moment until Deothanos overpowered us and held the Jewl in his hand.

I decided to join the girls for moral support. We watched Jared outsmart Deothanos. As his powers drained he became older and frail. Until eventually his old age caught up to him and he didn't have enough power left to stand. Though I had learned to hate this man from the time I was a small child I ran to him.

I lifted Deothanos' head and hugged him in my arms. "Why did you do it, Uncle?"

"Greed, my son, greed." He was surprisingly at peace, as if Jared had humbled his rebellous spirit.

We listened as Jared explained to Rachel and Kindra the responsibility they held.

"Those are wise words, my boy, but don't believe in such fairy tales. People are what they are, and in time another foolish man will come along and thirst for all the power in the universe. You must train your boy, and train him well. Listen to Kindra, become her devoted servant."

"Yes, uncle. I will."

"You're a good kid, I always liked you." He smiled a senile smile then closed his eyes and departed in spirit.

I cried openly, he was the last remaining of my family. Then I realized something, "No, he's not."

I stood up boldly and went to find Rain. We came back to talk to the others. "I am going home. I don't know if we'll make it, but I'm going to try. Before coming here, I gave most of my power to my ship. I am hoping the virus hasn't mutated enough to effect my ship yet." I then gently pulled the Jewl from the cold hand that was holding it, and handed it to Kindra, "as long as you have this, I will always be able to find you."

"We'll miss you!" Rain sobbed as she hugged the girls. We then parted ways and boarded our ship. "You'll love our home, especially now that you're a queen."

The World Situation

A week after first exposure riots began worldwide as nothing was able to stop this super-virus and it was beginning to kill people. Madagascar even closed all their ports and were killing anyone who tried to get there by boat, but somehow the virus got to them anyways. Every world government was overthrown in a matter of days, the dictatorships ran out of bullets and even burning the bodies didn't seem completely effective, probably because the infection rate was one hundred percent of people who were susceptible got the virus if they even came within twenty feet of an infected person.

People began to come together in groups, away from cities as the cities destroyed themselves. Two months after the last city went silent, as if the universe were saying it is done, the cities structures all around the world began to break down as the virus mutated even further and began to affect metal and concrete, even plastic. One year later and all of the worlds technology had faded, all that remained were isolated pockets of humans. The only children or elderly that had survive had been immune to the virus. Of those that weren't immune no one over the age of thirty or under the age of sixteen lived.

Jared

(It's taking too long so I figured out a way to slide this in there smoothly.)

My poor Kindra, her vision was failing already and I had only begun to do what I had set out to do. That's alright though, in the process I discovered the Jewl had many more properties than I had ever imagined.

I saw Sterling walk into the room where my wife and daughter were fighting Deothanos. I walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry brother. We can overcome him."

I walked into the room and waved at him. Everything in the room seemed to freeze as he looked at me. Rachel stopped attacking and so did Kindra. All three watched me as though I could move the world with this power and I could, but I needed something else.

"Hello Uncle," I smiled. "Well I guess you'd be more like a distant cousin."

He scowled, "So you really are a member of the royal house like me then?"

"Yes," I responded. "My ancestor forsook the throne and passed it to your ancestor, but that's beside the point. You want this don't you?" I held up the Jewl, taunting him.

His eyes lit up and he tried to rip it from my hands with his magic. I firmly held on to it and grinned, "I'm going to make you fight for it."

"You will lose," He answered. "I've been holding back thus far."

"I know," I held my grin. "And I was letting you keep me in prison. So I guess we're even. Oh wait that's right, I have the Jewl, even has no meaning now."

He again tried to rip it from my hands, this time he almost succeeded and it stopped somewhere in the air between us. He began throwing things at me trying to break my focus. I altered the metal in the room and created a barrier to protect me.

Rachel and Kindra stood behind me ready to act. I glanced back, "Stay out of this one girls. Just trust me."

A moment later I got hit by an object and thrown into a wall, "No!" The Jewl reached his hands and the walls of the room shook. Everyone slammed into the far walls, except me and he began crushing them like they were flies.

"Deothanos," I screamed. "I'm the one you're after, let them go!"

"Oh very well," He sighed. "But they were such fun little pets. Perhaps I'll keep Kindra and Rachel alive as my personal slaves. They are very beautiful, give them a few years and they'll be perfect."

I growled at him as he threw me around the room like a rag doll. He then picked me up and tried to crush me but to no avail.

"Why aren't you dying?" He said in frustration. "This should be working."

I smiled as I broke the grip he had on me and walked up to him, "Can't you feel it working?"

"I feel my power draining away," He complained. "How?"

"I altered the properties of the Jewl, it is giving me all you powers because you used its power," I shrugged. "I knew you'd fall for using it."

"There must be a catch," Deothanos said.

"I will die," I said frankly. "But so will you, your body is too old for the virus it is infected with."

"What are you going to do?" He asked. "Why did you need all my power and yours added together?"

"I need it to make certain nothing like you can ever happen again," I answered calmly as I picked up the Jewl and felt the surge of power flowing through my body. I could barely manage it. Deothanos was laying helplessly on the floor and I could feel the movements of the universe around me.

I nearly lost focus on what I was doing this for when Kindra and Rachel ran into the room. They starred at me in wonder. I imagine I must have looked strange to them, my powers would have been fully manifesting and I would have been dripping in power. I nearly killed both of them simply for existing, that's when I looked into Rachel's eyes and there I found my purpose.

"Father!" Kindra shouted. She turned to Rachel and said, "Mother, we have to give him our powers to help him, he needs all the power he can receive."

The surge of power increased as they gave me, truly, honestly, and in love, gave me their powers. I felt my body lift into the air and I saw even clearer the universe before me.

I had to watch my words at this point because I could feel the universe bending to my will. I thought methodically and the words just came to mind, "Magic will no longer be given as it has hitherto been given. From this day forth anyone or any species, with any level of intelligence, who truly and diligently seeks to command the forces of magic will be allowed to control it. There are no constraints on scope or depth of the power they wield, except that the body will still be used as a focusing device and there is the limit."

I felt the power fading and my life beginning to dwindle.

*Kindra's perspective*

"Father!" I screamed as he fell to the floor and didn't move. I ran to his side and lifted his head up gently. "Father? You can't go father."

He smiled up at me, "It's alright my darling." Tears were streaming down my face, my mother reached us a moment later, "My beautiful wife. Don't cry, I knew this was going to happen. I didn't have a choice. If I had waited much longer he would have killed you both."

I buried my face into his chest. He looked years older than he had moments earlier.

He spoke again to my mother, "Rachel, go to Deothanos. Receive the virus he carries, you will survive the change and so will the child." He placed a hand on her belly, "He'll be a healthy baby."

I could no longer see the future, or anything else. Magic had truly changed as he had commanded. Mother didn't want to go. He sighed and with great effort he stood and walked with her to Deothanos. I sat and stared at him in amazement. My father would be a legend, I would make sure he was remembered. There he was dying and still he worried about my mother more than his own life.

Deothanos was still alive but only barely, the virus hadn't done it, losing his powers had. He left my mother near him and walked back to me.

"Kindra," He smiled and stumbled. I caught him and laid him down.

"Not a very fitting place for a hero to die," I joked. "We should at least move you to something not metal."

He smiled again and replied, "That will not be necessary. Metal is my home, it is more fitting that I die here than anywhere else. Kindra, you must survive. Watch over your mother, she will change and your brother will not be a human, but watch over them. In many years to come a child of his will seek you out and want to learn magic from you. You must be ready to teach."

"What will happen to me?" I wondered. "What will the virus do to me?"

"Nothing," He answered. "You are immune. So go, take your mother somewhere and help her until she gives birth, then go and learn the ways of magic."

"But father..." He cut me off.

"Kindra!" He raised his voice as much as he could. "This is the last command that I give you. Please obey me."

I hesitated, I didn't want to let him go. I had just gotten him back. Slowly I nodded, "Yes father. I will do as you command. I will be waiting for your descendant."

"Good," He smiled once more. "He won't be alone Kindra."

"I understand."

His smiled faded and he closed his eyes and stopped breathing.

"Father!" I put my head on his chest and cried for a long time before my mother urged me to leave. "Alright mother, let's go hide."

(What happened to Rain and Sterling? I don't know, you can make a post if you want Dee. Hope you aren't mad at me.)

Sterling's rude awakening

"What is going on" I just kept asking her, but she was in a rush and wouldn't tell me anything.

"You need to speed up time.."

"Right, and how am I going to do that? I can't even make a submarine with auto pilot."

"Uh, you have other powers."

Before I could ask her anything else she was out the door. Rain came up behind me. She stood silently and didn't say a word until I spoke, "what is going on here? and why are so so quiet all the time now?"

"I, uh, there's something I've been meaning to tell you. But this is hardly the time or place."

"Now is as good a time as any, especially if I die the minute I leave this building."

"You can't die, you need to take care of us." she stopped short, realizing what she'd just said.

I just stared at her in disbelief. She answered the question in my eyes with a crooked smile. "Right, then I guess I will have to go out there and fight for you." I said boldly, trying to sound macho. Maybe I over did it a little, because she giggled a little as I turned and marched towards the door. I had to think of something quick, something romantic and maybe a little cliche.

So I took a line from the popular earth film Gone with the Wind, "And if a bullet gets me, so help me, I'll laugh at myself for being an idiot. There's one thing I do know... and that is that I love you, [Rain]. In spite of you and me and the whole silly world going to pieces around us, I love you."

With that I was out the door.

....to be continued

Kindra

It was coming to quickly, my father wasn't ready yet, Deothanos would not wait. I didn't blame him though, he only had a few weeks at best until he was powerless, I could sense the virus growing inside him. My mother had sensed him coming as well and was going to meet him and delay him as best she could, while I found Sterling.

He was in a room alone with Rain, I really didn't want to intrude but I had no choice. I knocked on the door once before walking inside. Fortunately they were just sitting together on one of the couches.

"Pardon," I said. "Sterling I need to talk to you, alone."

He excused himself from Rain and stepped outside with me and followed as I began walking off towards the exit.

"We need your special talents right now Sterling," I pleaded. "Not the power you are most familiar with."

"Why what's going on?" He asked. "Are we in danger?"

"Yes, Deothanos is outside right now battling with my mother," I informed him. "Only you can stop him."

"What do you mean?" He asked again.

"He's been infected with the virus," I told him. "He's got a few weeks before it begins to affect him. You can speed up time. Specifically the mutation rate of the virus, but it doesn't matter whether you simply age the virus a few weeks or his entire body or even all of us in this building, but you have to stop him Sterling. My father isn't ready yet and, if I woke him from the state he's in he'd die and all of this would be put to waste. My father will need us when he is finished, all of us."

We finally got to the door leading outside. I continued, "I'll be helping block his mental waves but I'm no match for him, all I can do is give you a fighting chance to succeed. Good luck."

I opened it and charged out into the open, invisible. He was busy fighting the shadows that seemed to be alive.

A Dark Room

"In moments we'll have apprehended all of your little terrorists," Deothanos spoke to the man who had issued the order to deliver the gas to the various cities. "It's over. We win."

"Do you really think I'd make it that easy?" The man spoke. He was chained to the chair he sat in. "My mind was so highly resistant to your attempts to steal the information."

"I checked twice and it was the same each time, I know you didn't make it up," Deothanos waved it aside. "Trying to trick me. Do you want more punishment?" He laughed, "You actually amuse me somewhat."

"You didn't get all the information from me," The man grinned. "There are bombs linked to each of my soldiers that was the gas. Bombs of sufficient magnitude to shatter the containers. They are set to explode if and when I die. Your mental probing weakened my body and I am holding on by shear will."

"You're bluffing. If you had that why haven't you just died yet?" Deothanos' question was answered by a beeping on the counter. It came from among the things they had found on the man now chained.

The man grinned, "All are in place. My bomb was set to explode with me as well. You'd better run."

He breathed out in a sigh of relief and suddenly all across the world bombs exploded in simultaneous destruction. The bombs themselves were minimal, but the gas they released was like a poison.

It moved and expanded, seeking out living targets. Infecting humans and then in a moment, it was gone. As if nothing at all had happened.

Back in the dark room Deothanos laughed and then suddenly sank to the ground, "Oh no. It is working. I only have a few hours. I have to make my move against them sooner than I thought."

Kindra

I got out of the shower and got dressed, it hadn't even occurred to me that everyone else thought I was dead.

I walked out into the main area and didn't find anyone. I decided to extend my senses and find my dad. He was in his room, I think crying.

I went to his room and went invisible before walking in, he was having a conversation with my true mother.

Mom had a hand on his back and whispered in his ear, "It'll be alright Jared. She was a strong soldier and died fighting for us."

He looked up and sniffled, "I know, but I didn't even get the chance to tell her how much I love her. How proud I am of the woman she has become. Her powers and her abilities, her smile." He drooped his head down and Mom shushed him as he cried.

He had his head in a pillow and couldn't see me become visible. Mom did but I put a finger over my lips as she stood. I carefully sat down where she had been sitting and put my head on his back and wrapped my arms around him.

He stopped crying and sniffled again before sitting up and looking at me. He looked happy but he asked, "Is this a dream?"

I smiled, "No dad. I'm really here, Allison succeeded in the impossible."

Mom had left the room. He wiped his eyes and tried to pretend he hadn't been crying.

"I'm glad you're okay," He hugged me.

I stayed in his embrace for a while, human touch in such a protective way is something I hadn't felt in a year and it felt good. My powers showed me something I didn't want to see in that moment.

"Dad," I moved back from the hug. "Sorry to ruin the moment but we have a lot to be worried about."

He nodded, "I know, I helped a lot of it move along."

My eyes went wide, "You helped them steal the virus? But you were in prison."

"I helped them by making a huge distraction in the fight they caught me in," He shrugged. "I didn't have to get caught but since I was I figured I'd use it as many ways as possible against them."

"Well anyways," She said. "We need to stop them."

He shook his head, "This was my plan from the beginning. Deothanos will be stopped, one way or another."

"But if no one has magic, he wins," He was still smiling. It then hit me, "With this virus he will lose his magic as well. So we move to protect the virus?"

He shook his head, "It can't be stopped now. Not even Deothanos with the Jewl could stop it. We need to be prepared when it comes to us."

"Why?" I asked. "Prepared for what?"

"I'm going to make all of us temporarily immune," He smirked. "I'll need all of your help to do that. Sterling got here earlier and will be very helpful. Once the virus has spread across the world I plan on..." I put a hand on his mouth.

"I can see that Dad," A tear filled my eyes. "You know she's pregnant right? Mom doesn't even realize it yet but she is. That's why I made her stay back during the fight."

He nodded, "I know, we can both feel things about other people and other things. The hard part is getting Deothanos to come to us before he loses his powers."

I grinned, "That's the easy part. He knows we have the Jewl and he will need that to protect him from the virus."

Dad grinned back, "Let's prepare then."

The Meeting That Didn't Happen

A group of a few dozen were gathered in a room and the leader was standing in the front talking to them.

"We aren't like most terrorist organizations," He admitted. "We don't have any demands. We just want to kill people and have them fear our name. That's why we've stolen what we believe to be a high concentration of nerve gas for release in the general public around the world. Each of us has been given the extreme honor of carrying the gas in those canister that will be undetectable to anything short of opening it, which would make it too late anyways. We all have our targets. You have twenty four hours to get to your locations and, now set your watches, in exactly twenty four hours, release the gas."

The watches were all set to the same second and everyone disappeared into the streets and city, moving for their intended targets.

Sterling

We just sat there staring at one another, not knowing what to say. I'd never met a mermaid before. Just then, my ship crashed into a rock. I opened my eyes and looked around. My ship was dark and looked as though it had been thrashed around in the open sea. Apparently I had fallen asleep, I had not woken up, there was no mermaid, and there certainly wasn't an auto pilot.

"Stupid Mermaid, I wish she'd just leave me alone." I grumbled remembering that she had haunted my dreams for years. Is she of any significance? I don't think so. I tried to steer the boat but it was dead. The engine had likely been damaged on the rocks. On the bright side, I had made it to my destination alive. That was more than I could say about what I found left of the city.

Apparently I had missed the big war. Who knew? I felt a little remorse, but not as much as the others felt. Since I was not native to the earth I did not feel every death like my brothers, and my wife. I gasped as I realized that I was coming to rescue Rain, I had hoped I wasn't too late.

I weaved in and out of the city wishing I could sense the others like they could sense one another. Then I saw them. They looked like something from a movie. Just staring off into the wasteland, hand in hand, her hair gently blowing in the wind.

For a second I decided I didn't want to disturb them, but then decided I needed to find Rain. I cleared my throat a little. Jared turned and looked at me sternly, I blushed. I didn't know what to say. "You missed the party." he said sarcastically then looked the other way.

"So I see. Have you seen my w--uh Rain?"

"Yeah, she's inside." Rachel nodded towards the warehouse.

"Thanks. Sorry if I uh interrupted anything." Geez, that was a dumb thing to say. I brushed it off and went to find Rain.

Cayos of Thanos, ripples

the last thing Victor could remember was, he was filling out the report. putting the pen to paper while MB flew. it all seemed so fragmented at the time.

"tracking a super named sterling. we discovered his name during the investigation, evidently he went a little crazy after we captured his girlfriend. Rain. stolen boat. PS call a woman named Kimberly, I'll show MB :P" Victors pen leaving the paper as unexpected explosions encompass the plain-

Groaning in a heap of metal Victor said "I liked that pen." though that was the least of Victors worries, smoke was flying into Victors face and his partner hacking up blood.

Victor "MB! MB! can you hear me!?!"

they were only 4hours from Florida and their Cessna had crashed on a small rock protrusion, complimentary a near by island.

Victor was able slip out of his harness, and he crawled his way over to MB,

MB:"That back stabbing-Alex he finally made his move." the missiles that had brought them down was from the sister plane they were flying with to catch Sterling. "if its the last time I see..." MB's face was turning blue and his eyes were beginning to roll back.

"shut up and stay with me!" Victor pleaded as he was looking for something to stop the bleeding.

Victor was tempted to use his corrosion power to dislodge MB, but the plane at that point would probably crushed.

the time was nearing dusk and Victor was punching MB in the face. "oh your not leaving that easy. whats the capital of Vermont! who's your uncle?" please answer.

mumbling deep from his breath MB replied "Dieing wont be so bad-" Victor cutting him off, "Dash it all, MB you don't-" Victor thinking fast and trying to help, "whats Canada's national bird! sing the national anthem?"

MB, "Victor-Victor he (Alex) was bad from the get go" pausing to take a wheezy breath "and stop asking though stupid questions. just let it go!... besides I have nothing to live for. my daughters a whore, my wife is gone and the man who ruined my life is by best friend. right now death sounds-" MB's strength began to wain.

Victor looked over to the sunset then back to his dieing partner. "give me your power, before you go unconscious, give it to me!"

MB replied faintly as his continuous was fading. MB "w-what?" Victor commanded "Give me your power or you'll Die!"

that dusk, MB mumbled his reply, but it was too late to save him.

the reason the crash didn't kill victor as well was that he had no hart. the cruel obedience contract the CDC gave him, was forcing him to live.

Victor pulled the last metal barb out of his chest were his hart should have been, blood flowing freely. "at least I know I can still die of blood loss" Victor curled into a ball and wept now staring into the night sky left to die. his spark weak.

somewhere else flying fast a mantis sprite was hurling threw the air trying to reunite with the host. "I know with in a block radios were Zack and were the other prisoners have gone to!"

lying on the rocky suffice Victor began to recant what MB last words from memory."Victor-Victor..."

Kindra

I found myself lying in a field when Allison appeared next to me. I smirked and laughed.

"Guess I didn't save you after all hm?" I grinned widely. "Oh well I just hope this is heaven."

She laughed right back, "This is your mind Kindra. You have to make a choice now, because I'm dead either way, but you have to choose whether you want to continue living or die with the rest of us."

"Why did you heal me?" I suddenly understood. "Why would you do that?"

She asked me something I didn't expect, "Why did you give your life to save me?"

"So you could continue living and do more good," I answered. It wasn't a hard question. "And because you are like my family."

She nodded, "And so you are to me. I gave you something every person wants. A chance to give their life twice for their family, don't waste it."

I smiled, "I guess my time has not yet come after all. Thank you Allison."

I stood up and consciously forced my mind back to my body. It hurt, it hurt a lot and I stank, but I was alive. No one else was here, other than the others who had died and so I took this opportunity to take a shower and get cleaned up, again.

Jared

I had been running for a while when a stalker found me. It took me a few minutes but I managed to kill it. I got to the base I told Rachel to head to after rescuing Kindra and I saw Kindra fighting on the battlefield against several stalkers but they couldn't touch her. I knew more would be coming so I went to make sure the others were alright.

"Rachel, Rain, Allison..." I looked down. "Where is Sterling? Where are the others?"

"They left us," Rachel answered. "We have to go help Kindra."

I nodded, "Let's go." The four of us ran out and I screamed inside when I saw Cali slice her fangs into Kindra's back. The stalkers looked at us and charged.

"Give me the Jewl," I demanded.

"Jared this isn't..." Rachel began to lecture.

"Give me the Jewl!" I shouted.

She handed it to me and I activated the power. I felt my powers grow like they had once before. The stalkers were charging and Cali was standing where she had been, waiting for something.

I could feel the DNA and other things they made the stalkers what they were and I screamed in rage. I raised a hand to show I was doing it and I killed each of them with a thought. I then appeared next to Cali, Rachel had teleported me.

"Cali," I growled. "How could you kill our daughter?"

She scoffed and yelled, "She barely acknowledged my existence. I went to her several times in prison but she told me to leave and that she never wanted to see me again. I'd say it was your fault but I know it's not! She's an ungrateful little brat that got exactly what she deserved!"

"And you will get what you deserve," I replied. "You see I have the power to make you anything I want, to change you anyway I want but the only thing I'm going to change, is your power. I'm going to give you the power of perfect memory, but of only one thing, you killing your daughter. I will burn that image into your mind until you are numb and then I will kill you."

Rachel bound Cali up in shadow shackles.

"Jared," Allison said. "She not gone yet. I don't know how but I can feel her still here, waiting."

My eyes lit up with hope, "Allison, I can't ask you to heal her, because it will probably kill you."

She looked at me oddly, "What do you mean?"

I smiled, "Because you don't heal people, not exactly, you heal yourself. You take other peoples wounds and make them your own, since you heal so quickly it looks like they are healed but if you absorb a wound this great I think it will kill you."

"That's okay," Allison smiled. "I think I should try."

Allison began to work and the wounds started to disappear. Cali scowled at the event but could do anything. After about an hour Allison fell over and stopped moving. Kindra was still on the ground, not moving.

After a few minutes we carried all those they had died inside and placed them in a room until we could find time to bury them.

I went outside and shook my head at the area, stray attacks had destroyed half the city. Police and military hadn't dared come try and stop the fighting or they were busy elsewhere. I tried to find some alone time but Rachel found me instead and comforted me.

Ivar, Jessica and Mathis

Ivar dove in and out of the earth commanding huge chunks of rock to crush any enemy he saw. He did this for a few minutes and killed dozens of them. Jessica launched giant walls of fire across the battlefield, incinerating anyone unlucky enough to be caught inside. Mathis shot lightning at would be opponent and after at least a half hour the three were standing together and breathing heavily.

"I can't do this much longer," Ivar informed them. "I don't have the ability."

Jessica agreed, "We will have to retreat or die."

Mathis nodded, "We have to stay as long as possible."

They all agreed and then I, Kindra, approached them and spoke, "You three have done enough. You can retreat and recover, I will take care of the rest."

"You can't take them all Kindra," Jessica complained.

I turned to the wave of fast approaching enemies and nodded, "Then I die protecting the future of our race. You should be lucky to be considered worthy to fight for this cause, but if you don't have the will to fight for it, leave. However, if you have the will to fight, your bodies can't stop you from fighting. True you may die, but I would rather die free than live as a slave." I then turned back to them, "Wouldn't you?"

The three of them took courage in my words but I could see the fear in their eyes and I smiled, "Fear not, my father is not far. Just a little longer and we can rest."

We then began to fight with renewed strength. The others were on the brink of death when they came, stalkers made for each and every one of us. Jessica, Ivar, and Mathis were crushed in moments and the seven stalkers then turned on me.

"I know you can't hear me, nor do you care," I shouted. "But you will not get to Rain or my mother."

I became invisible but instead of only one being able to see me four of them could, which didn't make any sense. Before the ones that couldn't see me acted and went on to get the others I killed them. They had changed back into the old looking men and were easy targets. The other four were not so easy. After a few moments of dodging I understood, they had been programed, all four of them, to attack me. Deothanos knew my powers and knew one could no longer beat me.

I had been fighting just using physical combat like I had in prison but this called for desperate measures. I quickly changed my power and focused it in a very different manner than I had always used it. I focused it on the four of them, they were no longer even coming close to hit me, I moved before they had even realized they were swinging. I could see every movement and every motion, but I didn't even realize I was blind to everything else.

I managed to kill one of them before I was sliced deep across my back. I turned and saw a large cat looking down at me. I fell to my knees and smiled, "Goodbye Cali, father saw what you did."

Kindra

I had found and brought Mathis and Allison back to the base already, he had said something about finding a praying mantis on his shirt and he accidentally killed it. What bothered me, however, was that I knew they were moving my father but I couldn't figure out where they were or where he was.

My head popped up, "Oh no."

Everyone in the room looked at me and Jessica asked, "What is it?"

"A large number of our kind are almost here," I shouted.

"We should run then," Ivar said.

Rachel shook her head, "If they can track me while I'm a shadow they could track the rest of you on accident."

"She's right," I said. "Ivar, Jessica..." I was about to finish when Jeff appeared in the room.

He jumped to a different spot as someone had attacked his previous location, "Wait! I didn't come to fight."

"I know why you're here," I yelled at him. "We aren't interested."

"You won't be," Jeff agreed. "What about Johnson? Do you want a normal life Johnson? My master has promised that if any of you agree to surrender your powers he will give you a normal life to the best of his ability, which is great. That goes for all of you. You have five minutes. I'll be back then to take whomever wants that with me."

He disappeared. We argued for a few minutes but no one could say that Deothanos wasn't true to his word.

Johnson laughed, "I'm gone, sorry guys but I never wanted any of this to begin with."

Zach shrugged, "I did my good deed, I'm with him."

Jeff reappeared, "Alright whoever is coming over here."

I growled at him, "Tell your master this isn't over."

Johnson and Zach stepped up and he laughed, "Actually I think it is." Jeff and the other two disappeared.

I made a face, "Alright then. Ivar, Mathis and Jessica will form the front line. I will be right behind them and Rachel you stay back with Rain and Allison."

Rachel protested, "Why am I staying back?"

I didn't look at her, "You will find out."

Mathis looked distraught, "I don't have my powers."

Ivar looked at him, "If your penance has simply been to give us back our friend you have done enough."

I could feel the power surge back through his body and he smiled, "Thank you Ivar."

He nodded, "Let's get out there and show these guys why they messed with the wrong people."

They went outside and I followed, staying behind and keeping my eye out. I could feel them growing in this very moment, something that was supposed to be impossible unless... Unless my father had done more than he let anyone realize.

Ivar gathered the earth around his body and a moment later he jumped high into the air and disappeared beneath the earth. Jessica was engulfed by flames and Mathis was surrounded by lightning.

The battle was about to begin.

The Prison Yard

The prison was going berserk, all the guards were dead. The Sector A prisoners had escaped into Sector B and Sector C. Finally the horde of prisoners made it outside. Deothanos stood alone to greet them.

"I set you free," He informed them. "I have a task for all of you and if you don't agree I'll either put you back into prison or simply kill you."

One of the inmates appeared ready to challenge his command and charged. He reached Deothanos but was instantly lifted by the throat and, with a single arm, Deothanos snapped his neck.

"Anyone else wish to challenge me?" He shouted. No one stepped forward.

"Then bow and swear you'll follow me, Deothanos, even unto death!" Deothanos smirked. "Or I'll kill you right now."

The entire horde bowed and spoke in unison, "We swear to obey Deothanos unto death!"

Many in the group did not speak up and Deothanos knew this and looked at the group, "If anyone next to you did not speak the words, bring them forth so we can kill them."

Many died but even more swore to obey him.

Jared

The time had evidently come as I felt myself forced to consciousness by an unseen power. I was inside some sort of container. I removed the tubes that had previously kept me asleep and began concentrating. A moment later and the box burst from surrounding me as I altered it's chemical makeup and bonded it to my body. It was time to take my true form.

I was being escorted by several people with magic, but a few minutes later and they were all dead. I walked out of the area and headed back to Rachel, though it would be a long walk.

*In a new underground lair*

Deothanos was seated on a throne. Jeff appeared before him.

"You have bad news," Deothanos looked displeased. "What is it?"

"Jared has escaped," Jeff told him. Deothanos didn't like avoiding the point and that is why Jeff simply spat it out.

Deothanos slammed his fist into the throne, "How did this happen?"

"We don't know," Jeff assured. "We had given him enough sedative to kill an elephant."

Realization dawned and Deothanos smiled, "That brilliant underestimated Alex. Even in death he continues to fight me. He is the only one who would know, not only how to awaken him but where he would be during the transfer."

"Are you saying he told someone?" Jeff didn't understand.

"No you fool," He shook his head. "Alex may be dead but his spirit and his powers can cross back over because of the close connection he has to Jared, his twin brother."

"But they hated each other," Jeff said.

Deothanos smirked, "I'm afraid that doesn't matter, but for the record that was my doing."

Jeff may have understood slightly but didn't say anything.

"Anything else Jeff?" He asked.

"Yes my master," Jeff gulped. "The virus..." He paused.

"Well spit it out," Deothanos commanded.

"A few dozen containers of the unstable virus were stolen from the labs by unknown people," Jeff warned.

"By unstable you mean?"

"I mean they are designed to remove magic as much as possible from the first generation of infected by mostly to affect the second generation and remove it completely. The overall design allows it to keep the increased speed and strength and so it would make the perfect workers." Jeff explained.

"But?"

"But they have not yet been calmed down, they mutate every few minutes, who knows what would happen if this got out into the public," Jeff exclaimed. "We have to stop this."

"You work on that Jeff," Deothanos agreed. "But first it's time to move my plans ahead of schedule. I need my enemies destroyed so I can concentrate on this virus."

"It will be done."

Sterling

My mind was starting to play tricks on me. I had fallen asleep and found myself in an odd dream. I was with Rain and we were swimming in some weird underwater tunnel. There were leeches everywhere. Every once in a while there would be a spotlight in the water. Rain warned me not stop swimming and to stay in the light or something terrible would happen.

Of course, this was a lot harder than I had anticipated. As she warned, I had slowed my swimming and come into contact with what humans call a mermaid. Rain freaked out and grabbed my arm. She had to pull me out of the water quickly or I would turn into a merman as well.

I was weak, I didn't have the strength to help her, but somehow she managed to get me on dry land. Things looked grim, I had already started to sprout gills on my face. "I need. . ."

Just then I woke up to a loud horn. I must have been near a light house or something. I grabbed hold of my steering wheel and turned away from the shore. According to my map I was only a few miles from DC.

When I looked up from my map, I nearly had a heart attack. There in my windshield was a green woman swimming and staring at me. She wasn't frightened, but she looked unsure of her next move.

"What do you want?" I shouted at her.

She started to swim away, but then turned back and put her hands on my windshield. It was like she wanted to communicate with me but had forgotten how. Just then she looked up suddenly, and then swam away beneath my ship very quickly.

A large net dropped in front of me gracefully. I just stared in awe, wondering what to do. Then a thought came to me, I needed to save the mermaid, but how? I had awoken before Rain told me what to do.

I decided that I had better act fast and worry about that other part later. I opened the bottom of my ship and saw the girl swimming beneath me. A look of relieve came over her as I pulled her into my ship. Then I closed the hatch and threw the switches into reverse. What was I thinking? For all I knew she could be working for the enemy.

Rain

I was a little anxious seeing so many people when we entered the warehouse. Rachel had made it sound like it was just her and Jared living there. Kindra came out of her room and ran towards Rachel. I didn't quite understand what was going on, but went along with it.

After all the excitement was gone, Kindra looked at me and gasped. "What is it?" her friend Zach asked, "an impostor?"

"Uh, no, uh," Kindra was trying to cover her tracks, "I was just surprised to see Rain that's all. Uh, can I speak to you in private, Rain?"

I knew she knew. She seemed to know a lot about everyone. We went into her room and closed the door. It was weird to see her this way, but I guess not any weirder than Sterling. I wondered what he was up to at that moment. I sure missed him.

"What happened?" she interrupted my thoughts, and then without hesitation, "oh, I see." as if to read my thoughts. "Well, your secret is safe with me."

"And Rachel."

She sighed, "of course you realize you can't hide this forever."

"Yeah, I know. But I don't know how he will take it."

Just then Rachel slipped into the room. "I know this isn't really any of my business, but don't you think he has the right to know?"

"Of course, it's just that.."

"He grew up so fast." Kindra fully understood my fear for Sterling. "But he needs to know."

"I guess you're right, but I have no idea where he is right now." I was nearly crying. "for all I know he could be dead." the girls put their arms around me as I looked at my stomach and cried. "It's hard enough that the child won't have grandparents who love. . ."

"him." Kindra smiled sweetly, "but he will have you, and aunts and uncles who love him. "

"Thanks." I smiled, "but he needs a father."

Jared

I opened my eyes, where am I? I was in a simple room, lying on a cotton sheet.

I saw a fuzzy figure in a chair across the room. The vision before my eyes cleared and I saw Alex watching me. I sat up abruptly as my situation and the whereabouts of reality and my current dilemma rose to the surface.

"What are you doing here?" I yelled at him and tried to command something here to obey me and kill him. "You've betrayed me too many times." Nothing moved. Nothing obeyed my commands.

He smiled at me, it looked genuine. After a moment of thought he said, "Not only is everything in this room a non metal." He smirked slightly at the thought, "But this is a dream. I'm in your mind."

"You won't get anything out of me, even in here," I growled. "You might as well leave."

Alex nodded in agreement, "That's okay brother. I was actually here to help, my bit of penance before I finally leave this world and die."

"What did you have in mind or is this just another trick?" I wondered.

"No trick," He smiled. "You will be moved shortly. I'll awaken you enough to move, the rest will be up to you good man. If we see each other again, it probably would be because you are in trouble."

"Thank you," I felt him starting to leave. "Thank you, brother."

He just smiled, "It will be a pleasure to watch from the next life."

And he was gone. I felt the sleep pulling me back and I let it take me knowing it wouldn't be long now.

Deothanos

He growled and threw Alex to the floor as if he were a doll.

"How dare you defy me Alex!?" He was very angry, mostly because Alex had not only let Mathis and Allison go but he had informed the organization he had for a time worked for that Deothanos was going to kill them all. Deothanos couldn't fight all of them.

Alex smiled wanly, "At least..." He was struggling for breath. "At least I die free."

Deothanos growled again and rotated his fingers, breaking Alex's neck. The momentary pain came and faded from the minds of those present as Alex died.

"Jeff," He called.

"Yes my master?" Jeff turned and knelt before him.

"This place is no longer safe," He warned. "Move our guests to the back up facility."

"Why now?" Jeff asked. "I don't question your motives just your timing."

"Because now that Rachel knows the location of our base she will be able to come and go as she pleases," He informed his minion. "She could kill all of you in your sleep and you wouldn't even notice and she could save the impressive specimen who calls himself Jared."

Now this was the first time Deothanos had ever spoken about one of the being of earth as being impressive and Jeff was somewhat surprised, as was Brindee. Only the two of them were present at the time.

"Dismissed Jeff. Brindee," She knelt before him as Jeff had a moment ago. Jeff disappeared as he teleported away to do his work. He smiled at her, "I need your unique skills. You need to create a large enough group of bees to cover a large area."

"For what purpose, master?" She asked.

"If all my minions asked so many questions I'd never get anything done," He scratched his head. "To make it impossible to tell we are moving Jared. Once he's out of the mist his daughter will be able to see him again."

"Unless their is so much to see she can't make any sense of it," Brindee shrieked in excitement. Alex really had underestimated her abilities. Brindee didn't realize that Deothanos had actually made Alex overlook her so she would follow him instead.

"Exactly, now go and wait for the signal," Deothanos commanded. "It will be coming."

E!-Gad! insites

Mantas Victor saw everything! "Alex was nice!" Mantis Victor was vary confused as he was being carried away unnoticed by Mathis. I've got to tell someone! hmmm but who?

now Mantas Victor was contiously using his mist chacra to hide himself, "hopefully they don't notice me >_<

---Normal Victor---

Victor was looking out the airplain window wishing... no more of bogging himslef down. he hated having time to think. normally he had his job to take up most of his time and thats how he was able to cope with the lose of his son a year ago. though the things kindra said and her visions had to be lies. his son was already dead. the CDC couldn't have (in the future) killed his boy in frunt of his eyes.

"well it'll be all over soon." MB conforted, though Victor assumed it was more toward his greifs then Victors.

Victor "what'll be? wait it isn't that knew girl I've heard so much about."

MB recoiled in imbarassment "how did-wait I've told no one!"

Victor "you did, just now... that and I've been reading your mail"

MB shoved victor and began to pout. not wanting to give any more hints away. I hate it when he gets all chummy, its like he can't stand having two sombermoments in his life!

"come ooooon!" Victor pleaded "just tell me who she is."

MB maintained his caccon of info. "don't make me check out the camera loggs" :P

MB knowing he would not win this fight, in his deffence he began to concoct an evil plan so milicious it would make Victor pause. MB cakled then with an evil grin on his face said "I'll tell you Victor if, you go on one date.

Victor "... ... not cool"

MB snirked as he knew he had won, oh victory was sweet asspecially against Victor. for some reason he charrished that more then anything. he admitted it was a weird quork but he still grined just the same.

"I'll DO IT!"

Mathis

I had recovered really well, better than well. Allison had put more of herself into her healing than normal. I couldn't help it but I didn't want to be here anymore. I was friends with Alex I'm sure he'd understand.

I found him alone, not a common thing these days. Deothanos was continuing to poison his mind and desires and even I could see that Deothanos, Alex's key adviser, was really playing Alex like a drum.

"Hey Alex," I walked up beside him. He was looking out into the prison yard. "Can I talk frankly with you?"

"Sure Mathis," Alex was unusually soft spoken right now. I could almost feel him at peace. Deothanos must be busy elsewhere, torturing a kitten or something.

"I want something," I gulped.

"Anything you want, you've been a loyal follower of mine since the beginning, since I was nothing," Alex answered. "Anything you want, I'll give you."

"I would like two things and you have to promise Alex," I knew I was pushing my luck. "Please, it's important to me."

Alex nodded, "Very well, you can have any two things you desire, I promise."

"I want to be free, I've been hiding that I don't have my powers for this whole year," I admitted. "I want to be allowed to leave and live what normal life may be left for me."

"Done," He waved for me to go. "I'll fake your death, otherwise you'd never be allowed to go."

"The other thing," I continued.

"Oh yes," Alex was still looking out the window. "What was it?"

"I want Allison to come with me," I knew he might kill me right there on the spot but he simply smirked.

"I knew you two were becoming closer and closer as time progressed," Alex said. "Can I ask you one favor before you join my enemies and prepare for the coming battle?"

I nodded and he finally looked me in the eyes, "Tell my brother I do not do these evils of my own volition. Deothanos has been controlling me for a long time now. Almost since the beginning. Please tell him that."

"I will," My eyes teared up. "The next time I see you..." He cut me off.

"The next time I see you?" He repeated. "Will be in hell, unless you get to heaven in which case I will never see you again. Deothanos will have me killed for this." He thought deeply for a moment and then said, "You'd better get going."

I hurried down the halls and found Allison, "We have to go now. Alex agreed to let me leave with you but we have to go now."

She hurried and we ran out of the area. The field dropped for a fraction of a second as we reached it and we barely made it through. I had no idea where we were going but we were leaving that place.

Zach

I woke up and found some clothes next to the bed, they weren't fancy but at least I got to take off this prison drab. I walked into the next room and saw a girl about my age sitting on the ground. She must have had fire as a power because she had a ring of flame spinning around her body. She must have heard me walking because it dissipated.

"Hello," She said. "My name's Jessica. Kindra didn't mention your name so I don't know it."

I offered my hand, "Zach, Kindra talked about having friends on the outside, once. Then again I only just met her when they put her in solitary for throwing Alex into the middle of a riot. The little rat is lucky he got out alive."

Jessica snickered, "Well Kindra is resting, she's had a rough year."

I nodded, "Me too. That place is, ruthless." I turned and rubbed my head. "Well anyways what would you like for me to do?"

"You're planning on staying with us?" She looked skeptical. "Fine, but..." She stopped as two people walked in the door. She motioned for me to be quite.

I was poised, ready to act. The intruders were two women but I would never underestimate women after seeing what Cali could do.

Suddenly Jessica stood up, "Rachel? Rain? It's so good to see you!" She ran over and they did a group hug. "I'm sorry about not being here this past year Marty took us to the past and didn't come back to the right time."

Rachel smiled, "I knew I sensed others out here. Where is Marty and Daila? Not to mention the others."

Jessica's face drooped, "I think Marty and Daila are dead. Mike and Kim, we don't really know." She paused and then explained, "They got left behind, at least two hundred years ago."

Rachel shrugged, "Assuming they hid, they could still be around."

Jessica shook her head, "Probably not, we were being attack he brought us back."

I could see, the one I thought was Rachel eying me the entire time, now she finally said, "Who is he?"

"He helped Kindra escape from that prison," Jessica smirked. "Good news right?"

Rachel's face lit up, "Where is she?"

"There is something you should know first Rachel," Jessica warned.

"I don't care, where is she?" Rachel insisted.

Kindra walked out of the bedroom she had been in and asked, "What's all the racket about?" She then noticed Rachel, "Momma?" Kindra ran over and nearly tackled Rachel.

Rachel didn't know what to say. Kindra spoke first, "I know, I know, I grew up fast even for one of us but the times demanded it."

Rachel finally smiled again and I felt like an extra wheel. Rachel walked over to me and gave me a hug, "Thanks for helping my daughter out of prison."

"Zach," I provided for her and squirmed out of her hug. "It wasn't completely selfless. I got out because of it as well."

Rachel shrugged, "True. Now then let's figure out what do to next."

In a Dark Laboratory

"What do you mean it's not finished yet?" Jeff was yelling at a poor unfortunate scientist. "We need this ready for testing in the next few days."

The scientist was trembling, "It's not that simple. You want us to create a virus that will only affect those with magic and to create a cure for it at the same time. They are too similar to other humans in a few generations the virus would undoubtedly mutate and begin infecting everyone and the cure would be useless." He back up, "Please understand we are doing our best, we just don't have enough people."

"You need people?" Jeff smiled. "I believe that can be arranged. We can get more people involved with the project but you'd better start showing better results, do you understand?"

He nodded, "Indeed I do and thank you."

Jeff disappeared and the scientist breathed a sigh of relief and put on the protective gear before going back inside the containment area.

Regular day in the office

Victor was going over the paper work and was rather confused, just then MB walked into the room particularly agitated today. Victor went on ignoring like he usually did "Hey, MB Do you know what happened to Mathis? this paperwork is a little confusing."

He then muttered how he hoped his grandchildren wouldn't be as stupid as Victor.

I rolled my eyes and just handed him the paper.

MB "well, it looks like we got ourselves a mole."

Victor"mole?"

MB "Yeah the paper is obviously forged possibly an assassination Alex didn't want us to know about, or something."

Victor "Alex has been doing weird things since I told him what Kindra said then she broke out" Victor was hoping to read his movements of it all and see if Alex was going to jump ship that way Victor would know how to react but it turns out

MB then sarcastically stated "and of course that wasn't your fault."

Victor looked at him insulted at the accusation then looked at the paper again. "even if it was a secret assassination who would I report it to" Victor then sighed "I wish there was something more I could do." ~Shudder~

Victor then whipped out another file "Subject 246-12, someone named Rachel, I think she wasn't working alone. we'll probably find another suspect in Mexico if we look around in the area for any abnormal thefts. people like us like grand openings."

----the other Victor's----

A splitting headache overwhelmed Victor's little head. He rubbed his beedy little eyes then yawned. "Sorry MB not sure what just happened, a what were we talking abou-! AHHHHHH!!!"

Victor squeaked as he had seen his furry self in a puddle. He then began to look around frantically, he didn't recognize the surroundings, it looked like gigantic pipes running across the halls and massive insulation spread about all over the ceiling.

Victor began to run, run as fast as he could, "MB!-MB!-MB! What is happening to me!"

Sterling

Ever since Jared started making me look older, my life had become more complicated. I didn't know it was possible to get more complicated. I guess being a child for 4 hundred years will do that to you. I guess it had never occurred to me how naive I was.

Sure, I was aware of all the hatred and slaughter going on around me, but I had never actually felt very strongly about anything. I guess you could say, "ignorance is bliss." I started to change, mature I guess. And Rain knew it. The more mature I got the more attractive I was to her. I didn't understand it, I felt like the same guy. Regardless, I knew she was hiding something from me. I didn't know what, but I knew it was something big.

That first year together went by so quickly, it was as if I was anxiously pushing time forward to see what happened next. But now that she was gone, time seemed so slow. My life lost meaning. Why did she have to go and steal fruit from that tree? I told her not to do it. She's been acting weird lately. She's always hungry and demanding things to eat. I was literally seconds from home when she was captured.

I cried and cursed, she was the only thing that mattered to me and now she was gone. I had to get her back. I knew where they would take her. And I needed Jared's help. I tried meditating in a church to find him, but all I got was static. It was as if someone was blocking me from finding him. I knew something must be wrong, Jared never blocked me without telling me first.

I decided to test out my abilities again, it had been awhile since I'd done anything that exerted a lot of energy. I climbed onto the roof of the church and then up the steeple. I figured I would try flying. Dumb? Maybe. But I was arrogant.

I concentrated really hard until I sprouted metal wings. Then I jumped. Luckily it was night so there weren't any spectators this time. I flew about 5 feet before I started falling towards the ground. Luckily I only broke my arm. I decided the only way I could get to her now was to hitch hike or run.

I decided to run for a while. If it took too long then I'd hitch hike, but I really didn't want to risk getting in the wrong car. Over the past year Rain had stressed how important it was for me to be a strong protector. I was having a really hard time with this. My whole life I had been either alone or protected by someone else, the idea of protecting someone else was so foreign to me.

As I ran, I started thinking about my life and what it had become. I felt like Forest Gump. I didn't want to stop until it all made since. Though, I decided I didn't have the momentum he had, and decided to steal a boat instead. I then tried to "pull a Jared" and manipulate the boat into a submarine. I knew I couldn't go very deep, but it seemed to work well enough.

I had been having nightmares a lot lately about a holding facility where prisoners were killed mercilessly by the dozen. So I decided not to sleep for a while. This proved more difficult than I had anticipated. Mile after mile of blue ocean and small wildlife got boring and I drifted to sleep. As a safety precaution, I designed the ship to turn on auto pilot if this happened.

Mathis

I blinked and opened my eyes, the only thing I could see was fuzzy shapes.

"Wha? Where I am?" I tried to grab my head but my arms were suppressed, gently. A cold cloth was placed on my head and a hand, I could feel the pain leaving my body.

"Just lie still Mathis," It was Allison's voice. "I'll take care of you."

"But why?" I asked. "I'm been nothing but cruel to you."

I thought I heard her laugh, "You've never been cruel, but you haven't been nice either. I'm one of the good girls Mathis. That's why."

My vision faded and I promised myself I'd find a way to repay her kindness.

Brindee

I was sitting in my quarters waiting for Deothanos' order. Just when I was about to give up hope, there was a knock on the door. He entered shortly after and briefly stated, "It's time."

He left and my adrenaline started pumping. I'd been training for this day for a year. I just hoped Mathis wasn't training as well. I concentrated really hard until I located his position in the building. He had just released the pure bred to her quarters.

In an instant I was zooming down the hall towards him. I started out as a single bee but grew into a swarm as I gained momentum.

He started to scream, which only exhilarated my thirst. I was rapidly gaining speed as he dodged around corners and ducked down hallways. He was no match for me and he knew it, I just wished he would have put up more of a fight.

He ran into a dead end and covered his eyes with his arms as he sank to the floor, "have mercy on me!" he whimpered. It was really pathetic.

I stung him over and over again as my anger took over. After a few moments I realized what was happening and completely lost it. I shrank back into my human form and ran back to my quarters with tears streaming down my face. I had never imagined I was capable of something so evil.

The door closest to Mathis opened and he was pulled inside. They shut the door behind them. Everyone continued as if nothing had even happened.

Rachel

They were taking me to the facility I wanted them to, just as planned. They put me in something they called Sector A and said Deothanos would be down to see me shortly. Well I wasn't about to wait for him. I became a shadow and left immediately, I jumped from one guard's shadow to the next. They didn't notice I was gone for a good while.

I was hoping to see Allison but I guess her power was not dangerous and she was probably in a less restrictive area. I wandered the halls looking in the medical area, I was assuming they'd have to keep him unconscious to contain him. I walked into one room and I saw Rain on a table tied down. No one was in the room and it didn't look like they'd done anything yet. Must have been getting prepped.

I let down my invisibility and untied her. She looked quite relieved to see me to say the least. I undid her gag last, mostly because she didn't need it out for me to get her our of there if I had to leave in a hurry.

"Rachel I need to talk to somebody, please," She pleaded. She looked older, more experienced than I. This last year weighed heavily on everyone it seemed.

I just smiled at her, "We'll have plenty of time to catch up we just need to get you out of here and find Jared, then we'll go find Kindra and break out of this place."

"I'm pregnant," She looked down as if she had something to be ashamed of. She was still seated on the operation table.

Honestly I couldn't blame her much because I knew instantly the only person who could have been the father. I put a hand under her chin and pulled her to look up at me.

"He must be an amazing man for you to have found him worthy," I tried cheering her up. "Come on the only reason Deothanos isn't up here with you I'm guessing is because he's going to see me. Once he realizes I'm gone the game will be over."

We hurried through the halls and finally found the room with Jared safely inside. I shadow stepped inside and gently placed a hand on his face. He stirred at my presence but he was hooked up to a machine that we designed to keep him unconscious.

I disconnected it and heard Rain yell something through the door. We were out of time. I appeared on the other side of the door and waved goodbye to the guards as I brought Rain to the realm I had called home for nearly a year.

"Take my hand Rain," I had a tear forming on my face. "We have to leave."

"But Jared is still in there," Rain protested.

I turned away, "I know but if the guards know we are here it means Deothanos will be here momentarily. We are safe for a little while in the shadow world but not forever." We could see the guards walking around and through us trying to figure out where we'd gone. I was openly crying now, "He knew the risks when he let them capture him. But now that I know where this base is I can come back any time, day or night and they will never be the wiser."

Rain took my hand, "Let's go then."

I began jumping from place to place, down the halls and finally out into the open air. It was much more draining then I had thought it would be taking a second person with me. Then again it's not the distance of shadow stepping that draining me but the number. I can jump two feet or two miles and it drains just as much and I hadn't rested since that encounter.

"Come on I know a base nearby that was never compromised by the enemy. Jared and I used it just a week ago," I said to Rain. "We'll walk but it's not far." I then remembered something, "If you can't make it I'll either carry you or make the effort to shadow step, alright?"

Rain smiled and we walked to the base.

MB

(MB has been brainwashed and is very delusional. Nothing about in this post Rain and Johnson is true)

Ever since Sunshine's death I had been different. I needed to avenge her death, and the more I worked with Victor the more my anger kindled. How could he be so optimistic? Our children had run off together and betrayed us. But perhaps he wasn't privy to such information.

Alex had told me all about it. At first I didn't believe him, but after he showed me the survey lance of her breaking out of the facility slaughtering people on her way I had to believe it. They had tried to catch her and Johnson on several occasions but every time ended with a bloodbath. Johnson and Rain just laughed as if they we're killing daisies.

They slaughters had become increasingly gory as the year passed. They had even been caught fornicating in a chapel.

It was disgusting! And now she was carrying his spawn.

I wanted nothing to do with either of them. My main focus was righting the wrongs they had done and saving the planet from more evil magic users.

I had agreed to surrender my powers to Alex. They were evil, I didn't want to be cursed with them any longer.

Rain

We'd been running for a year, but Alex finally caught up with us in Brazil. A lot of things had changed in that year, namely Sterling and my relationship with him. We weren't exactly upstanding citizens. Sterling's powers weren't what they used to be, they weren't as powerful but he could now alter earth alloys.

With his power we were able to easily get money from ATMs and with my power we could easily hide from the police.

As we got further and further from the life we knew, we got closer to each other. We decided to get fake ID's and get married in Vegas on our way out of the country. We figured if we left the country it would be harder for them to find us. We tried to use our magic as little as possible.

It was lucky that Jared had started changing Sterling's appearance because he looked very different than he had the first time I saw him. He looked about 20 now and was rugged and handsome.

I had started to get weak recently, because I was hiding a secret from him. I was carrying his child. I knew I couldn't tell anyone because they would take it away from us.

I had let my guard down for a second so I could get some fruit to suppress my appetite. The people who owned the tree called the police and I was captured. When they brought me into their station they recognized me from a flier sent by the US government and contacted Alex immediately.

Luckily, Sterling wasn't with me and remained free.

--In the USA holding facility--

"My, this is a surprise." Alex grinned after the doctors had examined me, "so who is the father, you tramp?"

"I'd rather die than tell you!"

"Oh, someone special, I presume. Well, he will be a perfect addition to our collection."

"Yes indeed." Deothanos stepped from the shadows, "you've done enough, boy, leave me now." after Alex and the doctor left he continued, "of course you realize you can't have this baby."

"You slime! You wouldn't dare!"

"Oh, wouldn't I? I can't have another heir to my throne running around, now can I?"

my eyes went wide. "well, who else's baby would you be caring. But enough about that, there's someone I want you to meet."

He slid the door open slowly revealing my father. "Dad?"

"You're dead to me." he growled, "Do you expect me to come crawling back to you after you betrayed me?"

"What? What's going on?"

"Don't play dumb with me!" he yelled, "I don't have to listen to this, I'm leaving. You can live your sinful life without me!"

Jessica

We had made it unnoticed most of the way across town and into an abandoned warehouse that was supposed to be the rendesvous point were we supposed to hide. Something seemed different about this city in general. Ivar insisted he go in alone first and check in out.

I just sat down on a rock and looked at Johnson, in the light we had here I noticed he looked different somehow. I wasn't sure exactly what it was but he looked older. Then again I hadn't seen him in quite a while he could have just grown up a bit. He noticed me looking at him and smiled slightly.

He slowly made his way over to me and sat down beside me, "So Jessica, do you want to go out sometime and get something to eat?" He said it awkwardly and I could tell he was nervous.

I tried to let him down easy, "I'm sorry Johnson, Ivar and I got back together about a month ago. So no I don't think that would be a good idea."

I felt awful doing it he was totally crushed and I could tell, I wasn't quite sure why. Last time I'd seen him he'd had a thing for Rain. A dark figure approached and I shot to my feet and got ready to fight.

It was a woman carrying a man over her shoulder, she resembled Cali.

"Who are you?" I demanded. "Tell me quickly or I'll burn you."

"You don't recognize me?" She looked puzzled for a moment and then she appeared to realize something. "Oh right. It's me, Kindra."

"Kindra is a little girl," I insisted. "You are much closer to my age."

I was about to attack when she raised a hand, "Wait I can prove it. You are Jessica, your power is fire and you are..." She looked at Johnson and paused as if trying to appraise him like a merchant would appraise a piece of merchandise. She gently put the other man down and walked closer to Johnson. "Your power makes it difficult to see you Johnson Taber. Your father is Victor right?"

Johnson was entranced by her, I must say even I was a little jealous now that I got a better look at her. He smiled weakly, his upset of being crushed by me passing in a moment and I rolled my eyes.

She nodded, "Mist, you have control of mist but there is something else, you gave part of your powers away. To your father? He wanted to keep you safe from the people he works for."

Johnson started to get a little upset but she placed a hand on his lips and said, "Everything your father has ever done has been for you, whether or not you agree with his choices he has thought it in your best interest. My father would disagree but he is a good man just on a confused and jumbled path."

Ivar walked out of the building and I had to jump in the way to stop him from attacking Kindra.

"It's Kindra," I told him. He didn't look convinced and I continued, "She knows all about Johnson. Things I didn't even know and I doubt you knew. That was one of the powers she was just breaking into last we saw her but to be on this level..."

"You mean you haven't been here this whole time?" She asked. "Where have you been?"

"We were taken to the past after the attack and brought back," Ivar said. "How long have we been missing?"

"A year," She shook her head. "I've had to do things, be something I'm not proud of. You left me in prison for a full year. Six months of it I spent in total isolation. Why didn't you come get me sooner!"

She was looking control of her emotions and Johnson motioned inside, "If it's clear we should get inside."

I put my arm around Kindra and whispered gently in her ear, "We just got back tonight Kindra. We didn't even know you'd been captured until you just told us."

She just cried on my shoulder, I guided her inside and found a bed for her and let her cry herself to sleep on my shoulder. I laid her head down on the pillow and walked out into the main area.

Ivar and Johnson were waiting for me. Ivar was evidently taking charge, "The facility is intact, the defenses are intact, but there in no food. By the general look of the place I say someone was living here and left in a hurry, probably so the place wouldn't be discovered. It was fairly recent too."

Johnson nodded, "I'll stay here and watch over them, you to go find food and bring it back. They'll wake up hungry if they've been in prison. That food probably isn't very good."

I shook my head, "I don't know how much has changed Johnson, we can't go out. Yours is the only face they aren't looking for. Besides remember what Kindra said? Your power makes it hard to see you, that goes for their searchers as well. If you did it on purpose I'm sure you would be invisible."

He looked uncertain but finally shrugged, "Whatever. If I don't come back don't blame me."

Ivar shook his head, "I'll go with him."

"Then that leaves me to tidy things up while you are gone I guess," I sighed. I really didn't want to clean but my face really would be known, the most wanted list isn't something that goes away in a year.

Johnson a little older

A blaze of techni-colored swirled around Johnson as he noticed some of his group didn't make it, he tried to let go but an inexplicable pain ran through him as his body wasn't as in tune with the rest of the group. His mind raced and memories that weren't his seemed to flood into his head. and his body rippled with age.

when the chaos stoped Johnson was lying on the floor sizling and a little diffrent.

Kindra

Kindra was sitting with Zach at their normal table, "So you are sure your contact is right and my father was captured a few days ago?"

He nodded, "What about our deal? You didn't forget did you?"

"Just make sure your contact has you in interrogation in ten minutes and keeps you there for at least twenty more and don't tell him why," I demanded. "I better go show them I'm a good girl and won't fight during the transfer."

Zach laughed at the thought and I sauntered off to get checked out and restrained. After fifteen minutes of checking, double checking and triple checking the restraints they placed on my arms, legs and even one on my neck, they decided it was secure and let me into the elevator that would take me up and out to the corridor separating the two areas.

I was being transferred to the female area even though I was extremely dangerous, I guess they figured I get in less fights over here but I would doubt that. About half way through I saw the hallway I need to find. One of them was holding a chain that led to my neck.

I flexed my right arm against the shackles, they were loose just like Zach said. So that meant one of those who had put the restrains on me was his contact. That really didn't matter at the moment. I was barely able to get my right arm out without them noticing it was free.

"Sorry I got a charlie horse," I groaned. "Just a sec please."

They stopped and the leash on my neck went slightly slack. I quickly located Zach and he was a few floors down, back in the mist. That's okay, they won't expect me to go down. I quickly grabbed the leash and ripped it from the man's hands. Then I went invisible and ducked inside a room. Alarms went off immediately. Using my free arm I got the chains off and the collar and made my way down to where Zach was. It had been less than a day since I tried to escape and the camera hadn't been fixed in that room yet. Zach was in that room.

I opened the door and said, "Come on let's go."

He looked around, "Kindra? You can go invisible too?"

"I can do a lot of things now let's get out of here," I replied. "Come on."

I led him by the arm through the facility, avoiding the people that were using cameras to try and find us. Getting out with him was a lot harder than it would have been alone. We made it out of the mist safely.

"Now then," I came visible. "Time for you to put your power to use and get us past the security field."

"The what?" He stammered. "That sounds bad."

"Not really," I shrugged. "It's basically just like the guns they have except it's surrounding the facility like a giant fence. You can get through it."

"I'm not sure I can," He murmured.

"You get us out of here or you get to deal with Cali," I said pointing.

"I guess I can try and run fast enough for that," He stammered. "But don't get mad at me if you get zapped."

I shrugged, "And if you fall unconscious I'll carry you to safety."

He took a deep breath and put his arm around my waist and lifted me up, "Here goes."

Cali was very close and then suddenly we were on the other side of the security fence. He had, as I suspected, fallen unconscious. I looked up at the post that helped the field to form and blew a kiss at the camera pointed at us. I picked him up and ran into the night intent on finding the closest allies I could sense, Ivar and Jessica.

Rachel

A week ago I had seen Jared, he told me the time had not yet come but that he would soon contact me and tell me where to go to find Kindra. He hadn't quite been making sense when he said that but given the circumstances I don't find it very surprising. He'd made me leave in the middle of the night.

I put my head down and drifted off to sleep. I sat up abruptly, unsure of my state of wakefulness I called out for Jared.

"I'm here Rachel," I saw him and knew it was a dream, like before. "Follow me back to the place they keep her."

"Wait Jared," He disappeared very quickly, they must have a more effective means of blocking him, probably telepaths. I reached out and found his location, but the process revealed mine and I woke to a bright, shining light.

I stared in unbelief, "Raymond? You're dead."

"It seems the dead are not too far a reach for my master," He put his hand out to me. "Join me with him and we can rule the planets under his command."

"No!" I yelled at him. "I've seen what future that holds for us. He will kill all who oppose him Raymond."

"That's why is has given me the privilege of offering to let you join us," Raymond explained. "He is willing to forgive you past choices and let you come with us."

"What about Jared?" I asked. "Will he give him the same clemency?"

Raymond dropped his head and shook it slightly, "Jared will never accept this path."

I raised my chin and glowered at him, "I'll never abandon him. So strike me down then Raymond and prove yourself to your master."

He steeled his face and the beams of light focused in on me and sliced through the image. I sighed and appeared nearby.

"You are no longer my brother then," I lamented. "I'm sorry I had to abandon you Raymond but I would rather you die than live a slave to that creature."

"You can't defeat my light Rachel, you never could!" He brought the light to bare on me and disappeared and reappeared behind him.

"Don't you understand it yet?" I taunted. "All your light does is disperse me and let me take form elsewhere."

"Light can go in all directions!" He yelled. The light spread in all directions and my powers reached a new level. The light simply made me a shadow against the walls and ground.

It was an amazing well defined, perfect outline of me. I walked towards him even with his light focused fully on me it had no effect.

"How are you doing that?" He panicked.

"Where you shine the brightest light you reveal the darkest shadow," I said calmly. The shadows began climbing his body and choking him. "Your powers were never a match for me, I just didn't understand how they worked. Now die brother."

"How callous of you to off your brother so quickly," It was a deep voice.

I turned and looked, "Deothanos, nice to finally meet you."

"And you my dear," He smiled. I lost my grip that was choking Raymond and he ran over to his master.

"I'm sorry master," Raymond said. "I failed you."

Deothanos patted him on the head like you would a pet, "Have no fear my child. You slowed her escape and let me find her."

I laughed out loud, "Do you really think you have me in your grasp? You don't even know where I am. I can manipulate the shadows. You think that shadow you're looking at is the real me? The only person who can fight me is powerless before me and you think you have me in your evil clutches? I laugh at your foolishness."

He slammed his hand into the ground and I felt the mental vibration before it actually got to me. I jumped far away to a shadow that was out of range of the attack. So maybe he did have me in his clutches more than I had thought. No matter I know where to find Jared and Kindra. It would all be over soon.

Pondering

Chaos had ensued, and MB seemed to be unconscious. Victor's mind seemed jumbled as if not sure if the information that had been downloaded into his head was authentic or carefully planned propaganda.

The girl was dragged away, feisty as ever. Victor put the large pink teddy bear he was going to give the girl on the toppled desk.
"MB, you OK?" Victor asked as he helped his lug of a partner off the floor.

"That Girl is going to get it!" MB's voice lathered with hatred.

Victor replied as if he didn't hear that last part. "you're right MB she's been Acting increasingly aggressive and irrational." then reflected internally, "possibly the next evolution our nature we'll all act like that... monsters."

"Victor, she's a teenager and like all teenagers they need to be taught discipline."

"you're right MB, her body and mind are probably going wacko...but you don't think Alex would ever let himself be killed by the CDC do you?"

"that's a bit of a shift, what did that girl do to you?"

"well..." Victor looked a little miffed as the whole experience seemed to only appeal to his emotional side, nothing that made logical sense. The government wouldn't kill its citizens and Alex's survival instinct was too high to be on a sinking boat for long. But still.

MB seeing his internal conflict. "no I wouldn't trust the CDC as far as I could throw 'em and I like Alex about as much as a box of cobras, and you like-" MB turned away realizing the affects of what may happen if he said the last thing that came to his mind.

Victor looked hurt, as if to say even all this time and you still don't trust me.

Barging into the room Alex broke up the conversation. "whats going on here, what happened."

"she gave me a message the CDC is going to kill all the magic users even you."

Alex looked a little stunned. "regardless" he was mulling over the prospect in his mind. but to give himself some time to think. "you didn't tell her that you caught Jared did you?"

Victor and MB in unison "no not yet"

Alex "good" Alex patted Victor on the shoulder, it twinged in phantom pain. The battle of Jared actually would have paralyzed him for life and killed MB twice over if not for Alison, the healer.

Alex "oh and that crater of a town we found Jarid at, the cover up is a broken dam. don't forget." looking back at Victor then walking out with the teddy bear."I've got something to check out."

Kindra

By my counting they'd had me in this prison for close to a year now. Six months, they'd given me six months in solitary for throwing Alex in the pit. I just wish I'd thought of slamming Alex head first into the ground faster than I had, he'd be the one dead now. The door opened slowly and a couple guards walked in with weapons on me. They were good, they had modified the pistols into rifles, shotguns and even grenades now, though the grenades were lethal from a single blast. The shotguns were only good at close range, excellent for quelling riots.

A third guard walked in and around me.

"Hello boys, is it time to go already?" I smirked. The light wasn't shining on me quite yet. "I was getting used to the alone time to meditate on my powers."

"Alex wants you to know that is the only reason he isn't going to keep you locked up forever," The guard behind me answered and he pushed me forward. "Move, don't give me the privilege of shooting you. I'd make sure I shot twice."

My smirk changed to a grin as I walked out into the guard filled hall and they were all shocked. The little girl they had put in there didn't walk out. I was easily in my teens, perhaps fifteen or sixteen. I'd been making myself older on purpose, some of my father's powers had worn off on me.

They led me into Sector A once more and pushed me into the middle. The floor went quiet as I walked over and got my food and walked over to my usual table. People were sitting there.

"Move," I commanded. "This is my table, just because I've been gone for six months doesn't give you riffraff permission to sit here."

One of them stood up and turned around, "Listen..." He stopped when he saw my eyes. I had the look of a predator ready to kill. He continued, "Look around sister, do you see anywhere else to sit?"

I didn't look around before answering him. I grabbed him by the arm, flipped him around and slammed him into the table. I whispered in his ear, "Does it look to you like I care?"

The others at the table stood up and a fight began, me against at least ten others, doesn't quite sound fair. I guess I'll go easy on them. Prison time had changed my attitude a lot, then again I did what I had to do to survive. I'm not saying I'm proud of what I did, but I did it nonetheless.

They came at me like professionals, at robbing norms. They didn't expect the speed at which I countered them. I broke an arm and three ribs in a few seconds and two of them were down. A few moments later and five were down. The others gathered their buddies and left. I did all that without spilling one drop of food from my plate. I cleared the table and sat down.

*On the top floor*

"We need to get her out of there," One of them insisted. "She'll kill them."

"Exactly," The other replied. "The new toxin poisons even the new breed and has made this prison overflowing. We don't have enough room to fit them all and we have several such facilities. If she kills them we don't get in any trouble. What's Victor going to say? Or Alex?"

The first man smirked, "Good point."

*Back to Kindra*

Zach sat down across from me and said, "I thought they'd killed you, or worse."

"Good guess?" I passed by his knowing who I was again and smirked. "If they kill me, my father will know and my mother."

"You mean Rachel right?" He asked. "Cause that other one is down here all the time quelling the big riots. She's amazing."

"But she chose to betray us," I looked down. "Willingly." I glanced up and saw Victor coming down. I smirked at Zach, "Looks like it's interrogation time again. One question before I go, were you one of us from before or part of the new group?"

"From the beginning," He shrugged. "For some reason I am resistant to Alex's mind games and he can't manipulate me like he can some of the others."

I smiled and then turned as I heard Victor call my name and look around for me.

"I'm right here," I shook my head. "Not what you were expecting? Too bad. How about you come down here and I'll show you why I was in solitary for six months. Let's go."

Victor looked at me funny but the prisoners all moved and formed a line for me to walk straight to him and I did.

"Sorry just an interrogation, besides you'd probably kill me," He looked uneasy. "That and they are getting you new clothes."

They had given my new clothes when I'd gone into solitary but I'd grown so much I'd had to tear them and they barely covered me still and not close to modestly. He led me down a hall and towards the interrogation area. I saw Samantha and she bumped into me and I quickly read what I needed. A moment a person ran up with clothes and handed them to me.

I wanted to thank her but I had to keep the facade and I just gave the lady a stern look. I entered a bathroom and changed and then went into the interrogation room. Alex was not present.

"Where is the dog keeper?" I asked. "Two dogs but no keeper? That's strange."

MB punched me across the face, "Shut up. We didn't bring you in here for you to give us lip."

"Did you want me to give you more than you can handle traitor?" I replied. "Not you Victor you were tricked. Why do you still work for them MB? They have broken their agreement with you. How do I know? I'm good like that."

He hit me again, "Shut up I said, we are here to question you!"

"Hit me again and you'll find out why I was put in solitary," I growled at him. My eyes challenged him but he was undaunted.

He stood up and hit me harder than he had previously. The blow knocked me across the room. My eyes teared up, not with pain but with the knowledge of what I was about to have to do. I jumped up and broke the only camera in the room. MB charged me, I side stepped and slammed him face first into the wall. I heard the crunch as his nose broke and he fell limply to the ground.

Victor looked clueless. I grabbed the table and pushed it against the door and braced it.

"Victor I have to tell you something," I grunted as the door was being forced open.

He stood up and walked closer.

"They are lying to you Victor, they plan on killing all of us," I said. "Open you mind and I'll show you what I mean."

He looked unsure but they door was nearly open. I dove and placed my hand on his head.

Death and destruction surrounded us. Men and women being gunned down by people wearing CDC uniforms.

Victor stared in disbelief, "This can't be. You can't see the future."

"Did you forget who I bumped into in the hall?" I asked him. "She can."

He then saw something horrifying and he had to look away.

"This is the path you are on now Victor," I said. "They are planning on killing your son and you, no matter what you do to help them."

"I can't go against them," He shook his head. "I can't I'll lose my powers."

"You can follow their rules without obeying their orders," I instructed. "The most basic guideline you most certainly agree with."

The vision began to fade as my strength waned.

"Police the magic users as we do ourselves. That is the oldest rule they have and the basis for their organization. Follow that and you need not break your word while you follow your own path, the path unwritten."

I couldn't hold it any longer and I jumped away from him and tried to fight the guards and make it look like an escape attempt. They threw me back in my cell in Sector A and locked me in. I sighed, well I told him he can choose for himself now.
