Rain

After the game, we all decided to go to bed, since we had exhausted ourselves by showing off to one another. That night I was having the most horrible nightmare.

I dreamed that my parents were being held captive in a dingy basement with no food or water. They were getting weaker by the minute and seemed delusional. Then the red haired boy entered the scene. He kicked them and spat at them yelling, "tell me where they are! I know you know where their head quarters are!" He was getting very agitated. Finally he shouted, "Fine, if you won't tell me where they are, then I will take evasive actions!" He grabbed my mom by the ponytail and held a knife to her throat. "Tell me or she dies!"

I woke up soaked with sweat. I thought I saw someone standing in my room, but when I rubbed my eyes and tried to focus she was gone. I got up out of bed and rushed down the hall to Ivar's room. He was snoring so loudly, and was sleeping like a rock (ironically). So I decided to try Jared's room. To my surprise he met me at the door.

"I... uh, we... I think my parents are in trouble."

"I know." He dodged my glance and refused to make eye contact.

I felt a pierce in my chest as the reality sunk in, "it wasn't a dream, was it?"

He just bowed his head and turned away, putting a hand on my shoulder to comfort me.

I sunk to the floor and screamed through my tears. After a few minutes, I decided I had to stop Alex. I had to save my parents. "We have to stop him! Before he goes any further."

Jared looked at me with sadness in his eyes, and replied, "Tomorrow. Tonight we need to rest."

I was shocked at his reply, but knew he was right. I reluctantly returned to my room.

MB

(This is actually Edmund. sometime after Jessica's speech, perhaps the next afternoon)
I walked casually into the president's office and sat on the corner of his desk. I rearranged the things on his desk while I waited for him to enter the room. I did not stand up when he finally entered the room, a little irate.

"What's the meaning of this? You disregard all protocol then just show up in my office. Stop that! Don't mess with my things. What is it that is so important? I fired you days ago, and now you dare show your face here, like this?!"

I grinned and got up from his desk. I avoided eye contact, but tossed about signed baseball he had on his desk. "I've got your daughter in custody. And also the young man she is working with, what was his name? Ah, yes, Alex. But they come at a price my good man."

"I assure you, no price is too great to have my daughter back."

"I thought you'd see it my way." I waved my hand, and a guard brought the two children in with their hands tied and their mouths gagged. Then I waved the guard out. Alex winked at me, the trap had been set.

(I figured this might help move things on a bit since the whole truth or dare thing kind of killed it. hope this works for you.)

Jared

I woke from my troubled delirium to notice Rachel return with Allison. I tried but failed at sitting up and then she asked me the question.

"Rachel please wait outside," I whispered. After she'd left I sighed, "I didn't want her to hear where I'd been shot. The entry point is not where you'd guess it'd be for what got it."

Allison made a strange face, "Where'd you get shot?"

I pointed to my lower chest, "That's where it entered but I was at a funny angle and it ascended my torso." My finger was moving up along my chest.

"Where?" She insisted.

"This isn't easy for me," I frowned. "Normally I heal on my own but this is, different. All of my own strength is being used to simply keep me alive."

She put a hand on my chest and her face became one of horror, "How are you still alive?"

I chuckled, "I'm not sure how human I really am. Normally a bullet that pierces the heart on both sides is fatal, almost instantly. My magic is forcing my body to operate with an injured, dying heart, but I don't think it will be able to hold on much longer."

She placed her other hand over my heart and I could feel a soothing calmness overwhelm my body, despite the stress it was under. After a few minutes, she nearly collapsed. She backed away and frowned.

"I guess you too have your limits," I smirked. "Don't worry I should be fine now. Think of it as useful exercise combined with practical experience."

"Well I should probably go rejoin the others now," She replied.

"Thank you," I said after her. Rachel entered immediately. "I'll be fine, you go have fun alright?"

Based on how I no longer showed pain on my face she was relieved enough to follow after Allison. I allowed myself to sleep. I'd be fully restored in the morning.

Daila

"Ok, since we all want to see each other's powers let's just skip the whole game." Ivar had returned, still looking a little flustered.

"what did I miss?"

"nothing much, Marty rearranged things, Raymond put on a light show then Rachel ran off with Jared. Since you're back, why don't you show us what you can do?" I explained.

"wait," Rain interrupted, "maybe we should try to do it on a smaller scale so we don't hurt each other or draw too much attention."

"If you insist, but Jared said this place is impossible to find." I added. "What can you do?"

Before Ivar could answer, Rachel came out of the other room, "Allison, I need your help with something."

"How did you. . ? we all thought you left." I was confused, but let Allison go. After all, I didn't think she could actually do anything that amusing.

--Allison

I followed Rachel down the hall, which was nearly impossible as it was dark and she kept skipping big chunks of the hallway. It was like she was teleporting down the hall.

I entered what appeared to Jared's bedroom, he tried to sit up, a little embarrassed at my presence.

"Relax, she's going to help you."

I had confided in the girls the other night telling them how I felt left out because everyone had really cool powers and all I could do was heal. And apparently not very well, since Rain was in the hospital for quite some time. (she was unaware that Alex visited Rain after she healed her)

"I can heal you."

He looked confused, but within minutes he countenance softened and he laid back on the pillow. I walked over to him and then asked what had happened, and where it hurt, so I could focus my power.

Jared

She nodded. Women, they are strange creatures that's for sure. I could have worse choices in a girl that likes me though. I shouldn't cheat, the only reason I knew of her feelings was because when she came in for a checkup. When I checked her pulse and started talking to her, her heart rate became elevated, among other things, but I shouldn't use that knowledge to my advantage. Who am I kidding, I'm probably the last person on the planet who would abuse such knowledge.

I shook off the strange thoughts swarming my mind and focused in on the present. She was staring at me.

"Where'd you just go?" She asked. "You looked far away."

"I can get lost in my thoughts sometimes. My apologies," I replied.

"No apology necessary."

I nodded, "Good. Off we go then."

I donned my armor with a few modifications, so she had places to hold on easier. She wrapped her arms around my waist and grabbed a hold of the armor. I put my arms around her and began to fly off, somewhat slowly for me, to the grocery store. We needed more food for the next few weeks. I'd had plenty but more people came than I'd expected. I landed in the darkness of the parking lot and began inside.

She followed and whispered, "Are you planning on stealing food?"

"Yes and no," I answered. "I'm going to buy all the food."

"That's not stealing," Rachel concluded.

"With a fake credit card," I added with a smirk.

We took the next hour gathering food and headed outside with our prize, after paying. We went around the back where no one could see us and ran into five unfriendly looking people.

I cringed, "Hello guys, excuse us we were just passing through."

"Not without paying the toll," One of them reasoned. "You pay the toll and we let you and the beauty go."

"What's the toll?"

"All that food."

I considered, "Take it." I let go of the cart and started walking away with her in tow.

"Wait a minute," A different one said. "What if that isn't the whole toll?"

"What else do you want?" I turned slowly around.

"We want the girl," The same one said."

My eyes flared and I growled, "You can't have her."

The others had been mostly ignoring me and Rachel until I said that. They all turned to me, "Did you just tell us we couldn't do something?"

I turned to Rachel, "You're going to be fine okay? Just do that thing you're good at and come out when it's over."

She looked a little worried and nodded. A moment later she disappeared. I turned back to the men.

"Wo man, where'd she go?" One of them said.

Another one pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, "It doesn't matter. This guy thinks he can tell us when we can and can't do."

"Put the gun down," I said calmly. "Just put the gun down and I'll walk away as if nothing happened."

"You scared?" He took a step closer. "Are you scared of me?!"

"No," The cold reality of my response sent a shiver down his spine. "I'm afraid for you. You don't want me to do what i wish to do, but if you continue in this course I will have no choice."

The others pulled out guns and pointed them at me.

"No more talking," I said and snapped the first guy's arm, nearly breaking it completely free of his body. I caught the gun and dodged to the side as four shots pierced the air around me. I quickly altered the gun to emit a slightly different result. I fired and the bullet shattered in mid air and plastered one of them with shrapnel. They tried to follow me but they moved too slowly and I fired two more shots before one of them had a chance to fire back. The bullet struck me in the chest. I could feel it still inside and I forced it back out the way it had come.

The last one walked up to me and starting yelling profanities into my face. I didn't see what hit him but I did see Rachel standing behind him a few moments later. She put her face very closely into mine and said slowly enough for me to understand.

"I'll get you back safely."

She proceeded to shadow step back, with the supplies to the hideout. She went through the front door but stepped completely past the room with people and lay me on the bed. She treated my injury and shadow stepped me to my bed to sleep. It took her less time than it had taken me to fly there to get back.

Rachel

I can't believe he'd ask me to do that. I sat invisible for a few moments before I stood up and took a deep breath. Jared was in the shadows as well so I could be there in a flash and back. I took another deep breath and took a single step, which for most people would have not been sufficient to reach him, but for me, well it came naturally. I quickly pressed my lips to Jared's and backed away. I took me seat and noted his surprise. He didn't look upset though.

The light returned to normal and my invisibility faded. Everyone looked confused except Jared and my brother. I spun the bottle and to my surprise it landed on Jared.

"Great I just get here and it's my turn," He smirked. Before I could ask he said, "Dare."

"I want to go flying with you," I grinned. "That would be fun."

Most of those present had never seen his power and didn't know what I was talking about.

"Alright," He spun the bottle and it landed on Daila. "You continue for me. We'll be back later, I have some things to pick up while I'm out. We may not be back until the rest of you are in bed so don't wait up."

I loved the way he took charge, not because he took charge but because he was so confident in himself. He said it and everyone listened, not that he was telling them anything abnormal. I went outside with him, it was my first time outside since he'd brought me here after being shot.

"How's your shoulder?" He said as if reading my thoughts.

I rubbed it with my hand and smiled, "I had a good doctor, it's doing good. I think we heal faster than normal humans."

He only nodded, "Do you want to fly now or after we pick up the goods?"

"Why don't we fly to pick up the goods?" I wondered.

"It's harder to carry while flying that fast," He stopped and thought about something. "Speaking of which how are you planning to hold on at supersonic speeds?"

"Well," I made a face. "I didn't really think you had to go that fast."

Now he seemed to understand, "Oh, you want a leisure flight."

Raymond

Ugh, why me I'm only here because those people that are after my sister and I, I frowned and rubbed my forehead. Rachel was sitting beside me and gave me a nudge. I glanced over and she was looking at me as if to say 'well'.

I looked at my accuser, "Dare, I guess."

"Blast," Marty muttered. "I don't know your power."

"He can manipulate light," My sister kindly obliged.

I gave her a glare as the other spoke, "Ah, put on a light show for us. One minute long should suffice."

"A light show?" I grumbled. "Alright."

I closed my eyes and felt for the power, I dug it out from within and brought it forth. My body began to shine as I enacted my power, filling the room with a warm glow. My eyes opened and I pushed the light forward into the air and in the middle of the circle, extinguishing all other light sources until only mine remained. I danced the light and colored the walls and faces of the onlookers with marvelous shades of color they had likely never seen before, or rather, the brilliance and intensity they had never seen. So filled with rapture were we all that no one noticed Jared enter the room and sit himself down in the circle.

I ended the light show and smirked as they clapped for me and I shrugged, "That wasn't much of a dare."

Marty smirked, "I didn't know what exactly she meant. I'll do better next time."

I spun the bottle and it landed on my sister, I grinned evilly. She had secretly confided in me her feelings toward Jared. She looked at me in horror as I asked the fateful question.

"Truth?" I paused, "or dare?"

I knew she dare not say truth for then I would assuredly make her tell everyone how she felt about him. The reply came slowly, "Dare."

I created a single source of light in the room so that she would be sitting in shadows. I leaned over and whispered in her ear, "I dare you to kiss him on the lips. You may go invisible if you wish."

She was invisible before I had finished speaking.

Rain

I grinned at William, and replied "I don't need magic to do that. But I'll try it."

I closed my eyes and got into a yoga position my mom had taught me that was supposed to clear your mind.

"What are you doing? Meditating? What's the dare?" One of the other kids yelled.

"shh, you're breaking my concentration." After several minutes, I opened my eyes and grinned. My eyes looked like little pools of water.

"Whoa! What the...!" Ivar jumped up.

The others burst into laughter as he fled the room trying to cover the front of his pants.

"That's not quite what I meant," William chuckled, "but that was great! You're turn, who's next?" I spun the bottle and it pointed to Marty.

"Alright," I thought about it really hard then I whispered to Marty. Marty looked annoyed. But nodded his head.

In a blink of an eye everything in the room had changed. The chairs were in disarray, the boys had their shirts on backwards, and the girls had their hair in pigtails. I giggled, and Marty just shrugged as if he didn't know what had happened.

"What just happened here?" Allison looked around, "it wasn't like this a second ago."

Marty bowed, "thank you, thank you!" He spun the bottle and it landed on Raymond.

"You're up. Truth or dare?"

Truth

What is truth?
Some say the absence of lies,
others say truth is knowledge,
I tell you truth is a feeling.

William

"I know what you feel you really don't want to do, so I won't make you do that. I will however be slightly cruel."
Those in the group could see the malicious look enter the child's face.
"For now all I want is a display of the control you have over your power."
Every time I do this it makes me feel more than just a little strange, sending feeling and sometimes thoughts. "I know this is a little weird, but I want you to make Ivar a little wet and maybe a little warm, basically make him sweat."
"Okay, just do that and no one else will need to know any thing about it."

MB

I was sitting in a basement tied to my wife and a pole. Alex came into the only visible light with one of his new friends, a man who looked just like myself.

"A striking resemblance, amazing isn't it? Alright, Edmund you can stop pretending now." I saw my twin turn into a young man. "Yes, I think you will be a very important asset to our team."

"You'll never get away with it." I glared at Alex.

"Oh, but I already have. You see, I just turned your daughter's best friend against you, and he is going to go to his father. You know the one. He's a pawn for the police. We need him on our side, you know. He will lead us to all the others, and then we will manipulate them to join us."

"You're a terrible boy!" Sun screamed, "I hope you die a horrible death!"

"Oh, come now. I've just begun. You've yet to see my power. Now, behave yourself before I send you out to make more enemies, Mrs. Landon."

"You devil! What you're doing is wrong! Identity theft is a crime!"

"Calm down, honey. We don't want to provoke him." I whispered to her as he left the room chuckling.

"How can I calm down? Without knowing if it is day or night we are both powerless and you know it."

"Yes, but he doesn't, so let's keep it that way."

The government darkening

Johny was in the school lunch room (Rain was gone he assumed she was at home because she was still suspended), and just saw the track with the Video. "Wow, Jessica had more family problems then I thought." he saw her earlier that day on the curb, he offered help but she shied away. "this explains a lot. Doesn't it Rai-" looking at the empty table he sighed, still not used to her absence.

Mr. Landon walked up. "oh hey-" Jonny was cut off.

"where is Rain!?!" his rage obviously showing, though he was trying to keep things down. there was a slight pause. "Does Victor have her?"

"what? my dad? why would he-"

"don't mess with me on this Johny you're a good kid. I know you have powers!"

"not anymore my dad neutralized 'em. I promise."

MB got abnormally close and Johny just reacted, frost happened to his actual eyes. Wincing in pain, MB thought to himself "wait if he's been neutralized he shouldn't have been able to do that and if lied about being neutralized he would be neutralized, something more must be at work here. A lieing element user."

Johny ran, and when he caught his breath, he realized he was in trouble. "ah..uh? Jessica, maybe she can smooth things over." one thing was for sure he didn't want to see MB again when he was angry.

---back at Washington

The president was rubbing his temples he was about to head out there to confront what all was going on to the press. "this is not my day."

Then there was a friendly tap at the door."Sir?"

The president looked over "yes Harvard, director of the CDC."

"we saw what happened out there, and we just might have a solution." the president cocked his head. "I know you're a good man Mr. president, I even voted for you. now I'm not sure if you really are hiding people or if its a farce but Mr. president, if you had and if say they have a disease of any sort, even in the blood." looking the president in the eyes "this may be a way out. read this before you go to the press, consider our proposal."

the pudgy CDC man began to walk away, "Sir, you still have a lot of life left in your campaign, hate to see the entire government in an upheaval when it doesn't have to."

---on a grassy hill

Victor flexed his arm he could feel his son's power flowing through him and even a tap into his(and his own) elemental power.

Victor's partner(no longer Marco, he's in a mayonnaise jar underneath Victor's coat) "interesting. looks like the one with the red hair is the leader."

over the walkie talkie, "we gathered some intell. his name is Alex. careful reports say hes a wiley one."

Victor looking over to his partner "we may not be able to do this the nice way."

(Plans to have the CDC and the other secret organization join, to get Alex into a trap/cell then to have a reconisince mission to try to get Kimberly to join and be Victor's new partner, if that fails. then he'll try to convince Alex to be his new partner(other option, he brakes out). questions, just post)

Jessica

(Time is changed from my comment.)

It was nine o'clock and the press conference was about to begin, my father thought I was making a speech to help his reelection, but Alex had sent my a note reminding me if I didn't do this I'd lose my powers and any chance of revenge against him.

I took a deep breath and walked out into the room. I waved to the cameras, I'd become used to them during the past four years and felt quite at home, I'd have been at ease if I wasn't betraying my father. I stepped up to the podium and waited for the applause to settle down.

"My fellow citizens, I come before you tonight in horror and shock over some things I've witnessed over the past few days. Such things that I could no longer remain quiet even though my father was the one responsible for the things I saw." I took a slight pause and then continued, "The things I am speaking of are in these photographs taken by some friends of mine of American citizens being held in cells that would make hardened felons flinch.

I held up several pictures of captured magic users. I proceeded, "They were held and some still are being held in these cells, without charges and without trial. Some are barely being given enough to stay alive. I wouldn't expect anyone to believe me, unless of course I had one of the prisoners with me. He came to me with this information and told me there were more. I know this young man has a criminal record but I went and saw this facility myself." I turned back to the back, "Come out here Mathis." I started clapping and the others followed.

Mathis walked out, he'd been skillfully dressed in worn clothes and had not eaten anything that entire day to fit the role better. He stumbled weakly unto the stage and awes rose from the audience.

He walked up to the microphone, "I feel incredibly used and hurt by this set of events, I haven't done any criminal acts for several months and they came and took me and threw me into that dungeon, if you can call it that good. I..." He looked away, tears flooding his eyes.

It sickened me but I put an arm around him and comforted him, "Tell them who visited you."

He was sobbing and he barely made out the words, "The president."

"And what did he tell you?" I asked him.

"He told me I was going to rot in their until he felt like releasing me," He said with equally overacted sadness.

"And did he let you go?"

He shook his head, "One of the guards had pity on me and left my cell unlocked while no one was looking."

"Thank you Mathis, that is all," I pushed him gently towards the door. "You see my father had direct knowledge of what was happening down there."

A reporter raised his hand and asked, after I pointed at him, "Why are you telling us this?"

"I thought the public should know what evil he is authorizing," I stepped away. "That is all." I walked out and hurried to somewhere I could be alone and began to weep and sob.

Jared

I rolled my eyes as the others started to play a game of truth or dare. I would have joined them but I had some other matters that urgently required my attention, the results of the lab work were coming in. Kimberly had, at my direction, stayed in the lab and looked pleadingly at me as I walked in.

"What news do you have?" She asked.

"I don't know yet," I walked over and began reading the results. I frowned, "This is impossible and very bad."

Her expression became one of fear, "What's wrong with me?"

"According to this," I took a moment to double check. "Nothing."

She stood up, "And that's a bad thing?"

"Yes," I said frankly. "It means what is wrong with you is even more serious than I thought and my machine can't detect it, meaning..." I trailed off.

"Meaning what?" She looked frightened.

"You know," I changed the subject and walked closer with a syringe full of a sedative. "For a spy you really don't have good composure. I would think this wouldn't worry you at all."

"I'm faced with an outcome that could be worse than death," She explained. "Death doesn't scare me. The powers you people have, that worries me."

"Us people?" I laughed. "You are one of us, or didn't he tell you that. You don't have the powers like we do but whatever he did caused this problem you are now experiencing." I put the sedative on the table next to her, "Roll up your sleeve, I need a blood sample, then you can go join the others. If the danger isn't serious there is no need to keep you in here. I'd rather you became friends with the rest of us."

At the White House

(right before Jessica's speech)
"How did you manage to lose the whole team?!" the president shouted at Mike and MB. "I figured with three adults this wasn't going to happen. I figured we'd lose one or two, sure, but not ALL OF THEM! And where did Agent Grayson disappear too!"

"I realize this isn't ideal, but don't lose all hope. We've still got a few on the map. All we've got to do it track them down and convince them to join our team." Mike suggested.

"And what if they refuse? What if they try to kill you? How will you defend yourselves?" the president was getting hotter by the minute.

"I have an idea," MB interjected, "there is still one child in our custody, sir. Your daughter. She will be loyal to you. I can almost guarantee it."

"Almost isn't good enough. You better be right about this, Landon. Or the two of you will be stripped of your badges and all the privileges that go with it. Understood?"

"Yes sir." they both muttered.

"Now, come on, before we miss my little pumpkin's speech."

Rain

(not sure what day it is, someone else can decide, I'm guessing it's around 9pm)
It felt like one big co-ed slumber party, or something. I felt bad about running away from home and all, but I left a note for my parents explaining in great detail my reasoning. I am sure after time they would come to understand. They weren't really like us, they were adults and their powers weren't as strong. Not to mention, their bodies had already started to. . .well, deteriorate. It's not the right word, but you know what I mean.

It was a little weird seeing a bunch of rogue kids, complete strangers might I add, all living together in complete harmony. With Jessica and Johnson out of the picture, I found myself letting my deepest secret out little by little every passing day. Ivar didn't seem to mind too much, and the others just gave us a hard time. There were about eight of us living there now, and I could tell Jared hadn't expected so many to join him all at once, though I think he enjoyed the company. It was about an even split between guys and girls too, though one of the guys was a bit younger than the rest of us.

We started to play a friendly game of truth or dare. Of course, it was William's idea, but we all went along with it.

"Alright, so what you do is you spin this bottle, and whoever it lands on has to pick truth or dare. And then you decide what they will have to do or tell." William was a bit too eager, and I could see he loved being in charge of a bunch of older kids. "I'll go first, of course." he gave it a good spin, nearly hitting Ivar in the knee. It seemed to be spinning forever. Then it stopped on me. "Rain, truth or dare?" a devious little grin started to show on his lips.

"Uh," this was going to be difficult, because I knew whichever I chose it would somehow involve Ivar. I decided to get it over with quick, before it became extremely annoying. "Dare."

(sorry about putting words in your mouth, but I am hoping this is the opening you need to post *cheesy grin*)

A Dark Room

Victor's trigger happy ex-partner enters a room, there is one person inside, his face is shrouded in mystery and indistinguishable.

"Sir why did you take me off his team," The man complained. "I was only doing what needs to be done to all of them including Victor."

"I know," The other answered. "But the more he can disarm the better, they will focus their anger and hatred on one another and perhaps will kill some of each other off."

"You know as much as I do that we only have a few years before their powers reach maturity," The man continued. "There are too many to do it his way."

"Patience," Came the reply. "I've been searching the ancient texts for help, they do not give me any idea how they are being so organized. Every time that they were wiped out and their were none to teach the rising generation we took them off guard and slaughtered them by the hundreds. This time less than two hundred exist and we've only disabled a half dozen."

"Perhaps we missed one all these years."

"No," The shadowy figure shook his head. "The armored one must be the child of the woman we held in captivity for centuries. She must have designed him with the knowledge he'd need to survive. We must take his powers and bind him before all is lost."

"It shall be done my lord."

The man left to get the word out, top priority was the armored one.

Alex

"The subtle nuances of mind manipulation," Alex laughed hysterically. "I just hope it worked. If she believes it happened she will sever herself from the other even though nothing actually happened!." He laughed again.

Jeff turned to him, "What if her anger gets the better of her and she comes after us?"

Alex turned to his naive minion, "Let me worry about that little one. She wouldn't want us leaking the video you forged of that event she thinks happened, would she? That will keep her in place. Tomorrow I'll remind her she has to destroy her father's career and it does have a time limit."

"Right you made her promise to destroy it tomorrow, but you did that yesterday," Jeff smirked. "If she doesn't she won't be a threat to us anyways."

"Either way I win," Alex shrugged. "Any luck figuring out where Jared disappeared to Mathis?"

Mathis shook his head, "Brindee and I have been searching everywhere, it's like his base is invisible and he drives a car that defies physics."

Alex scratched his head, "His car does defy physics, at least physics as we know them now. Fine, what about Marty and Daila?"

"They seem to have found Jared or simply disappeared as well, no sign of them anywhere." Jeff chimed in. "Local traffic is dead, nothing about his car."

"Then we must build our own group to combat his," Alex reasoned. "Mathis and Brindee stop searching for Jared and start looking for more people. Jeff you go work on creating that video if we need to blackmail Jessica and I'll go do what I do best." He grinned evilly, looking toward and past the camera, as the screen fades to black.

(So yes Alex can manipulate the mind of someone who is weak-minded or has had their mind dulled. Hence the need for the drug. He didn't use it for the normal purpose, but he is still really evil because he made her think he did.)

Jessica

I was still upset and sad from what Ivar had done but I was not nearly as mad, in fact I wasn't even sure I wanted to help Alex anymore. Just then Alex walked in with another guy, I think he worked with Ivar.

Alex smiled at me and walked over, "Hey beautiful. You ready for your big speech tomorrow?"

I hesitated and answered, "I'm not sure I want to. The truth is I'm not even sure what I'm doing here anymore Alex."

"You are here because you were betrayed by your boyfriend who was making out with his partner. Maybe they are more than just partners in title-" He trailed off.

"What do you mean?" My eyes narrowed.

"Well I don't really want to show you," He said frankly. "You'd probably go berserk and try to kill him or something."

My anger started to flare, "Alex if you don't show me you'll be the dead one."

"Alright, alright, come down," He glanced at the other guest. "Go get the tape." He looked back at me, "Are you sure you want to see it?"

"No," I answered honestly. "But I need to."

The tape showed Ivar in bed with another woman, the time stamp was two weeks earlier. My eyes filled with tears.

"How did you get this?" I asked.

"She recorded it on her webcam," The stranger filled in. "Alex asked me to find it so you could see the truth. Who knows how long he's been cheating on you and how many other times things like that have happened."

I shook my head in disbelief, "I don't believe it. I know him."

"Do you know him?" Alex asked. "Do you?"

I caught my breath and pointed, "What's that?"

He paused the video and zoomed in. It was a note from someone, I recognized the handwriting.

"What does it say?" I pleaded.

It zoomed in again and cleared up. My face went from sadness to utter hatred, "I'll destroy my father's career if it's the last thing I do."

"Do you swear it?" Alex asked with a grin on his face.

"Yes!" I screamed.

"I know the perfect way," He answered. "The perfect payback too, but first let's have a toast." He offered me a drink.

I took the drink and everything started to become fuzzy. I don't remember anything after that until I woke up the next morning, but I knew what he'd done. I was on a curb somewhere in the city. I'd been used and discarded, and I know Ivar wouldn't take me back now.

(FYI the video was completely doctored and created by Jeff? but yeah it was a date rape drug. Alex is an evil man.)

Jared

"Okay Dad," Rain called back to him. She motioned for us to be quiet.

I was a little overwhelmed to say the least by the prospect of getting six people in one day, but I wasn't going to argue, perhaps this was the path I was chosen to walk.

"Alright then," I stood up and whispered, not wanting the dad to hear us. "We'll take my car. After picking up Ivar's old partner my car will be filled to capacity. And don't worry about Alex, even he wouldn't dare challenge all of us together."

They got in the car and talked about who knows what. Ivar sat beside me as to direct me to her apartment. We arrived shortly and Ivar and myself got out and left the others in the car.

We strode up to the door and knocked. The door opened and she was there.

"Come on Kimberly," I commanded. "You're coming with us."

"What? Why?" She asked. She didn't fight as I blindfolded her.

"I need to test your blood for irregularities," I gave her the basics but not specifics.

She gulped, "What are you looking for?"

I sighed, I hadn't wanted to tell her yet and I didn't have to. Ivar smack her over the back of the head and she fell unconscious.

"I guess that works," He carried her to the car and placed her in the back for them to situate her. "Let's get to that safe place now shall we?"

I drove and a couple hours later we arrived. Everyone had fallen asleep. I pulled into the underground parking lot and parked the car. I nudged Ivar and he woke up, the ones in the back began to stir.

I heard someone ask, "Are we their yet?"

I smirked as I opened the door and put Kimberly over my shoulder, he must have hit her pretty hard.

"Everybody out, find a room or just go to sleep on the couches in the front room, there are two people already here a boy and a girl, twins. They will probably be asleep so please keep it down," I walked inside letting them finish waking up or stay there, it was just as safe as the rest of the place.

I didn't sleep as much as normal people, four hours of sleep was me sleeping in. I took my captive to the lab and placed her on the bed. I quickly took a blood sample then, I put some of it in a machine to analyze it and put some under a microscope. I couldn't see anything unusual and that made me worry rather than feel relieved.

I took some more and put it in the cold storage unit, so I could test it later if after I'd rested. It was quite early in the morning and I normally went to bed around midnight and woke up around three. I let the other machine continue its analysis and went to bed.

Rain

"see, I would join you, but there's the whole 'my dad works for the government' thing, and I think that would get in the way of your plans." after thinking about it a minute I sighed, "what would I have to do?" Since working for the government was not exactly top on my list, and ironically clashed with the whole vision my parents had in raising me.

The boys almost cheered, or wet themselves, I wasn't sure which. They were about to say something when these two kids came bursting through my door. "we want to join you!" they said in unison.

"and who are you?" I asked.

"Marty, I work with your dad."

"Daila, I live in Africa. Well, I did until Alex kidnapped me."

"Do you have a place we can hideout for a few days so Alex can't kill us?"

"tell your friends to keep it down, will ya?" my dad grumbled half asleep.

Ivar

"I love cookies," I said as I walked inside. "I've had a pretty rough day myself, sorry about yours. Mine is probably much different because it wasn't a fighting day."

Rain looked confused and Jared filled in, "His girlfriend broke up with him cause she caught him kissing his partner?"

He nodded, "Anyways, I'm-" I felt something a bit strange, like I was being watched. I glanced at the window and didn't see anything, but I still felt it. (His sixth sense thing coming into play.) I shrugged it off, "We were wondering if you wanted to join us."

Jared continued, "He isn't referring to the government company your father works for nor the evil organization Alex is forming. We'd be a group of super heroes, if you can call us that, fighting to preserve freedom, justice and liberty. Not making law just enforcing it, on our own kind first and foremost then at a normal level if we can ever control the big picture."

I grabbed a cookie and took a bite, "These are delicious."

(Leaving it off there muahahaha.)

**Monday night**
"Creep! I hate you! You black mail me, take me from my home, and then force me to do your evil biddings! I'm not a puppet!"

Alex just chuckled, "You'll be great! Go on now, he's waiting."

He pushed me towards the door. I stuck my tongue out at him, then walked casually into the computer lab where Jeff and Marty were working. Jeff had made an excuse to leave, and winked as he passed me in the doorway. I gathered my thoughts, and then approached the handsome young man flirtatiously. "Hey handsome" I gave him a seductive grin as his heart nearly jumped out of his chest, "what are you doing here so late at night?"

I felt so disgusting as I playfully stroked his chin and ran my fingers through his hair. He shuddered at my touch, we were connecting. Then I accidentally broke character, but only for a split second. He noticed. His eyes got wide, and then he pulled me close to him and whispered in my ear, "I want you to giggle like I am saying something dirty to you," I was confused, but did as he said. "I am going to freeze time now."

I felt a rush of energy, and felt as though we were spinning. We then looked over to the door where the scum bags were watching us snickering. They were frozen in time, with all their charm. "Watch this." He grinned as he ran over to the door. I swung it open really hard, knocking Jeff and Alex to the ground. "Come on! I don't know how long it will last!" He grabbed my hand and we ran out of the office as fast as we could, "I knew he was a double agent when he tried to cover up what he was doing. I am surprised he didn't notice how quickly I got his hot dog yesterday."

I kicked the boys as we ran past. And giggled a little. I knew that this bliss would not last long, because once time started again they would come after us, and they would not be so kind this time.

Time suddenly started up again, it was as if a very loud bell tolled in our heads. Marty almost collapsed with exhaustion. I quickly brewed up a storm that whisked us miles away from the building. We landed outside a quaint little house just as two boys were entering.
"I know those guys." Marty said, so we decided that we should go to the window and see what they were up to, not sure if we could trust them or not.

--Alex and Jeff--
"What the..."
"That #*$%$%#@$&! I should have known he'd try a stunt like this! Why didn't you tell me he could freeze time, Jeff?"
"I didn't know."
"Come on, we've got some fish to fry!"
"Fish? I am hungry."
"It's a metaphor, you moron!"
"Oh, my ribs hurt."
"Stop whining or I'll give you a reason to whine!"

(Alex was really mad, so he may have been saying a lot of words at once.)

Rain

**Monday night**
I was just about to doze off when someone knocked on the door.

"why won't they just leave us alone!" I groaned I as got off the couch. My parents were both already asleep.

I wasn't surprised to see the last kid from the hospital, "what do you want? I thought you said we'd be safe here." I rolled my eyes when I saw Ivar, "you can come in, but you have to to be quiet. My parents are sleeping. We had a few visits. That irritating little nerd came back, this time with reinforcements. My mom had to fend them off. Then after they left that dumb cop showed up and tried to trick my dad into giving up his powers. He put up a bit of a fight, but then gave up and ran off somewhere with his kid. I'm I forgetting anything? Oh, yeah. I was just about to go to sleep because I've spent the last couple of nights in the hospital thanks to Brindee and that nerd! So unless what you have to say is really important, I'm not interested. By the way, your button thing didn't work. Or maybe it did, but there was a huge delay, say about 3 hours." I said sarcastically. The boys were speechless. "Do you want some week old cookies?"

Jared

It was just after dinner, which was delicious, that I decided I needed to head out again, my enemy wasn't getting one victory and calling it a day. It's a good thing I placed several fake shields as well all over the north eastern states, they'll never find this place that easily. I had to get out there and protect more.

I found them talking in what had been adapted to be the living room, they were talking about how life would never be the same now that they couldn't even go home. They were taking it marvelously well considering but I guess something about these powers manifesting did that.

"Hey guys," I said casually. "I'm going out now if you want to and have any skill you can try and repair the mainframe I found, I didn't steal that unless the junkyard is going to miss it. Anyways it's broken and I'm not sure exactly what is needed to fix it."

Ray smirked, "I'll take a look at it. Uh, where is it?"

I pointed down the main hall, "I put up signs a few minutes ago so you know where everything is. Oh the training area is down that way too, if you go look at it and give me suggestions I could find ways to improve it. Right now it's probably only useful for me and for physical training."

They both nodded and kept talking, so I walked out and got in my car. I drove around for a while and found some beeping, three of them in one building? Two of them were weaker but the other was distinctive. I got out of my car across the street from them and started to walk up to the door when another car pulled up.

A familiar face stepped out. I smirked, "Hello Brian or should I say Ivar. Who are you right now?"

He made a face, "I'm still not sure why they gave me a code name, everyone found out in less than a week, I'm probably the worst spy ever."

"Probably," I didn't argue. "You don't act the spy very well."

"How would you know?" He got defensive. "You are a kid from a backwater city that barely has a mall."

I joked, "Hey, we got that finished a couple weeks ago don't go mocking it."

"That's my point," He sat down on the curb.

I nodded and sat down next to him, "So who lives here?"

"A friend of mine," He looked confused. "Wait, why are you here?"

"My radar detected three people inside with powers," I explained. "Your friend and his parents?"

"Her parents actually."

"Girlfriend?" He had been opening up before I said that, now he was like a wall. "Not a girlfriend but you did something and your girlfriend doesn't want anything to do with you now?"

"What?" He did not like the subject.

"I've seen it before," I explained. "Look you got to find her and apologize, make a total fool out of yourself and hope she can forgive you for whatever you did or sometimes even what you didn't do. I mean I don't know that you actuall-"

He cut me off, "I kissed another girl."

"And you two were on non other girl or guy terms?" I guessed.

He only nodded, "Look, my boss lives in there so you probably don't want to come in."

"Wow really," I grinned. "I wanna meet the president."

"Not that high up," He sighed. "My girlfriend's dad is the president, this a just a friend. If you can call her that. I just need to warn her."

"About the enemy agent trying to steal our powers and neutralize us as threats?" I asked.

"How did you know about that?" He wondered.

I laughed, "Because I very nearly killed the main guy doing it today for trying to capture and neutralize two I found today. His partner shot one of them and I flew off the handle a bit, literally."

Ivar nodded, "I would have killed him."

"And that, Ivar, is why I'm not you nor will I ever be you. Now then, let's go see who's side your female friend will join. Yours or mine."

"We are on the same side," Ivar said. "Aren't we?"

"Not exactly," I sighed. "You are, because of government intervention, forcing people to join you or be imprisoned."

"For their own protect-" He stopped mid sentence. "I see what you mean. You are only planning to go after the criminals."

I nodded, "If someone wants to remain neutral that's fine by me."

"Do you have any more rooms?" He asked, his eyes looked at the ground.

"Don't you have a contract?" I raised an eyebrow.

He smirked, "Yes, but I made a stipulation that I can leave at any time for any reason without violating the terms of the agreement."

I chuckled, "Smart, where's your partner anyways?"

He made a face, "Not doing so good."

"Maybe I could come take a look?"

"Why are you a doctor?" He laughed.

"I was considering it," I answered. "Just because my schooling had normal grades doesn't mean I didn't have other interests. Genetic science has always fascinated me."

Ivar slapped his knee and stood up, "Let's see if we can't recruit Rain, before we stop by Kimberly's place."

I smiled. Perhaps fate had led me out that door to find this one, troubled and without a cause, wanting to do good but not seeing the path. Was I truly one of them, or something else, like a beacon that none could steer away from. We walked up to the door and knocked.

(I guess this would be after the visit from Victor by an hour or so?)

who has the power?

ok, so here is a list so far.

Ivar-controls earth

Rain-controls water

Sun-controls anything during the day (power is limited, not as strong as the kids')

MB-controls anything at night (power is limited, not as strong as the kids')

Jessica-manipulates fire

Allison-healing power

Marty-can freeze time

Jeff-telecommunication and teleportation

William-(Unknown aka Undecided afaik)

Jared-controls metal and crude (meaning not sophisticated like computers) electronics and force fields (like the one created to protect the location of the hideout)

Johnson-power mostly unknown

Victor-controls darkness and shadows (and ghosts)

Brindee-super bee (shape shifter)

Alex-power not totally known, can move anything

Mathis-lightening

Daila-power unknown, but I am thinking torrent winds

Raymond-Manipulate and focusing of light, can also amplify light(Needs some light, moonlight would count only for a full moon or near full, to use his power)

Rachel-Ability to turn invisible if in a shadow, can also shadowstep (go from one shadow to another within sight)(A bright light shined on her negates her power)

mishappenings

Marco was wandering the halls. There was a crazy priest guy and a ghost buster man both after him. Thank goodness they probably never actually dealt with paranormal activities, otherwise Marco would be spectral splatter.

"laboratory?" Marco mused as he saw the sign. Peeking his head in he saw some inmates being pumped full of!?! "that feels like essence of Victor."

"sign the paper now!" a squad with guns yelled at the inmate.

Looking back into the room, there was no mistaking it. Marco had to tell someone.

Zipping down the halls. he passed a door were he felt the essence of the boy again. "hey there, you feeling better squirt?"

The boy looked over a little spooked. He was hooked up to an I-V. "what do you want from me?"

"have you seen Victor?"
"yah. he just left."
Marco was about to jump off when he felt something different. "you feeling ok?"

"yah, my dad made me promise to give my powers to him to make sure the CDC wouldn't do any expiriments on me but-" the kid was near to tears.

"aw don't cry little guy" putting out his hand for support.

flapping it away in disgust. "I HATE THE GOVERNMENT! I HATE IVAR!!!"

"whoa kid, whats up? why don't you explain everything to uncle Marco." Marco now sitting on the bed.

"Because of Ivar recruiting people, my dad now is working for the government. The "secret" agency... now, he'll never have time to be home."

Marco "there, there-"

A nurse turned the corner."everything going ok in here?"

Johny "yah dude, we're-I'm fine, just a little disorientated, man."

The nurse looked at Johny oddly, but she set down the food and walked away.
Marco escaping Johny's body "phew that was a close one. Thanks kid." then Marco began to look at Johny.

"no-no-no"
"you need some rest." swiping his arm threw his head, Jonny fell on his pillow fast asleep; his mouth being left awkwardly open.

"now to- hey Johny!" the hot headed agent interrupted Marco's sentence. FOOOMPT! slurp!-slu-slurrp!

--back at the car.
Victor "so did Johny get the message?"

"nah he was sleeping, dude."

Victor looked over to see the less hot headed agent gurgle his coke then said in a happy tone, "where we headed!"

Victor "Marco?"

Shoving some Fritos in his mouth from the seat. "Hrmf?"

"oh no... Marco."

"look it'll be fine, like the old days an adventure!" turning the car into full gear. "now let's drive!"

Victor put his hand to his forehead and tried to think of a solution.

Several meters down the road Victor said. "the place is that way."

Brian

*Monday Afternoon*

I could have sworn I'd seen that Jared kid driving his car around but I couldn't figure out where he'd gone enough to follow him. It didn't really matter, the only thing I had left now was my job. Perhaps if I could just get Jessica to talk to me she'd understand I only kissed back because... I'm a fool. There is no excuse for doing what I did, I didn't blame Kimberly but I had unconsciously been shunning her. Only talking about work and whatnot.

Kimberly seemed to be getting sicker by the day and I wasn't sure why exactly. She said she felt fine and she acted like she was fine too but her skin had started to look dull. I'd found a few more agents for our cause and a few more that were powerless, evidently someone was tricking people out of their powers. That's why I'd called this meeting.

"Alright," I said as everyone was gathered in. Only Rain was absent, but I'd tell her next time I saw her and her parents. "I called this meeting to let you all know something you may not already know about our powers. There are two parts, the physical side and the mystical side. The physical side is permanent but the other is not."

"What do you mean it's not?" Someone asked.

"Let me finish before you interrupt please," I said calmly. "If you promise to do something or swear something that is untrue and you fail to uphold your end of the bargain you will lose your powers."

Someone raised a hand and I pointed. They asked, "Is it permanent?"

"I don't know if it is or not," I sighed. "The only reason I brought it up is I've found several people who had powers but had lost them due to this. The description they gave me leads me to believe it's one of our kind. So be careful before you promise anyone anything or you might end up regretting it."

They talked to each other for a few minutes, "That's all I had. Dismissed."

I had asked Mike to call the meeting and let me be in charge otherwise I'd still be just the lowly peon I always had been.

Confrontation

Victor was siting on the curb staring at a map.

The trigger happy CDC agent rolled up in his car while he was yelling on the phone. Then glared at Victor.

Victor stood up and held out his hand, then held the phone to his ear. A frustrated voice answered "what happened?"

"we tried it Trigger Happy's way." seeing the pause Victor continued. "I've neutralized two threats today and now we have three aggressive. With all do respect, make it so the squad only has tanks and tazers, let me be the only one with the gun. You know you can trust me, I'm under contract after all."

The stress now mellowed in the burly man's breath. "I'll definitely consider it, agent 23."

"oh and sir, I know just about were they are." he smirked as he handed the hot headed partner the little complimentary map with a red circle. "they'll be within 2 miles of that location. But somethings blocking me from getting everything."

"good work Victor, consider your previous suggestion done."

"might I suggest another, we should wait for things to cool down. The armored fellow doesn't seem rational, with his powers he could go on a rampage. The others will have a hard time trusting me now-"

"look Victor there spooked and they haven't fully manifested there full potential. The threat must be neutralized before they... well they have grievances against us now."

"At night sir. That's when I'll be at my full potential."

"very well."

---Near dusk

Victor walked slowly to the Landon's door and knocked. "hello MB, may I come in?"

A little stunned at Victor's presence "of course, come in."

With a worried face Victor sat down on the couch. "Have you seen Johny."

"no, no I haven't." MB bit his tongue on telling him the stress he was having. Both his daughter and wife were upstairs exhausted from being attacked from their own kind.

With a sigh Victor asked. "promise you'd tell me if he were here?"

"Victor you know I would. but I haven't seen him in days."

"really?"

"yes." MB shuddered at the thought.

"silence!" Victor shuddered and MB looked at him dumbfounded.

Victor stood up quietly "sorry old friend, but I'm afraid you're lying." he jogged to the back room, where someone had strategically placed Johny and quickly ran out the door.

The darkness of night was shifting as it was MB's only defense now. Whipping out black clouds to engulf the traitor.

"CDC I need help!" he yelled into his walkie talky. And where the hot headed agent sprang out with a four wheeler took the boy just as Victor was flung by the ankle into the air. And jaws of blackness were about to engulf him(not necessarily to kill but definitely entrap.)

His boy crossed the property line and the shadowy figures vanished and Victor laid on the ground covered in mud. The CDC agent returned picked victor up. Looking back as they all left Victor said "I thought you were powerless. You promised you hadn't seen him."

"I am a man of my word, I had no idea he was hiding there." Leaving MB weakened and in his door way. There were some cries from the second floor. "honey what was that racket? honey?"

Victor thought he felt something from the others but it was too weak to tell.

The CDC agent broke the silence. "now off to the second site."
"Yes but make sure Johny's ok." looking down into his boy's eyes that were twitching. "what happened to you my boy."

Johny was shaking, he seemed to be in shock. All he could say was, "trap. trap. it's a trap."

Jared

(Sorry Luke I'm going to do some good modding with your guy.)

I know you must be wondering, what exactly is my power. You've probably heard of or seen the armor, well that's part of my power. The other part is the ability to manipulate and alter mechanical and electrical devices, including the creation of such devices. That's where my skill ends, I have little to no skill at altering computer software. I might be able to develop such skill but at the moment my plate was full.

I'd created a device that locked on to the distinctive genetic pattern of my kind. The only problem I was currently having was the range was only about one hundred feet and it didn't give or barely gave a direction. I'd been driving around for hours on this Monday morning and it was just a little past noon. I was driving to each of the high schools in the area hoping I could find them at school. I was getting close to giving up when my radar started going crazy. I checked it. Two different people, close in proximity and in genetic pattern. Siblings?

I stopped my car on the street and walked over to the high school, lunch was just ending. Great how am I going to find anyone here? Then I saw her, she seemed to blaze among the things that surrounded her and there was another near her, he almost looked like a shadow. She was dressed in bright clothes and he in dark ones, probably the reason for that. I walked closer the group they were sitting with was beginning to break up.

"Excuse me," I offered my hand. "I don't think we've met. My name is Jared. You are?"

"Going to be late for class if I don't hurry," She answered as she took her tray and dropped it off.

I wasn't going to give up that easily, "I don't believe you are aware why I'm here."

"You want a date or something?" She asked. "Well forget it."

"Not exactly why I'm here," The cafeteria was almost empty. "I know you have special powers."

She and her brother stopped dead in their tracks and turned around. He stepped toward me and spoke, "What do you want from us?"

"I want you to come with me," I answered truthfully. "I want you to help me."

"Who sent you?" She asked. "Alex or the government?"

"Has it occurred to either of you that there might be another group that simply wants to exist in peace?" I smiled. "I'm that group."

He laughed, "You must have quite the power to think you can exist in peace all by yourself."

I nodded, "I do. I can fly, have bulletproof armor and can heal if you did somehow manage to hurt me. Not to mention my ability to manipulate hardware, mechanical and electrical. I am a child of the future, I was created to protect our kind. I didn't choose this, it was chosen for me but who am I to second guess my mother."

He rolled his eyes and turned back to her, "Who does he think he is?"

She just stared at me, "I believe him."

A canister of gas fell into the room between us and I donned my armor. I guess it probably looked like some kind of aura surrounding my body and the armor materialized. I saw her turn invisible and heard a gunshot. She fell to the ground, I couldn't tell if she was dead or alive.

I heard a man yell, "We are supposed to contain them, what's wrong with you! You shot without authorization."

The smoke was fairly thick and I was pretty sure it was knockout gas. My armor was protecting me. It began to clear and I was an older man with a gas mask on stop dead in his tracks when he saw me.

I shot over to him and punched him squarely in the chest. He went flying back into the wall and stood up gasping for air.

"You're one of us?" I couldn't believe it. "You traitor. You'd better pray she isn't dead."

"Or what?" He smirked. "You gonna promise something to me?"

"I'm not a fool," I spat back.

"Then what? What are you going to do if she's dead?" He grinned.

I knew he was just taunting me but I didn't care. I came closer to him and heard a gunshot, the bullet hit into my armor and was deflected.

"It's not just for looks if that's what you thought," I said. I grabbed him by the throat, preventing him from speaking. "If I ever see you again and you are trying to take our powers or kill us. You will die. Unlike you, I believe in second chances. You aren't even giving us a first chance."

I threw him into the other person with him and went back and gathered them both up and flew through the ceiling, to my car. The top was down and I plopped them both in the back. They started to wake up, evidently it had lessened effect on our kind, but that wouldn't last, they would adapt, they always had.

I put the top up and started away. As suspected they followed me, I headed out of the city, I didn't want to hurt anyone during the chase. The boy climbed in the front with me.

"Thanks," He said. "If not for you we'd both be captured."

I shook my head, "They'd have tricked you into losing your powers and then they'd release you. For some reason they are behaving differently this time around. I guess a bunch of bodies in this day and age would attract too much attention so they are trying a different way if possible."

He blinked at me and looked in the back, "I stopped the bleeding before climbing up here, she should be fine for a few hours. Do you have a base or something?"

I nodded, "But I'm not going there til I lose them, and that could be difficult if they managed to hack into satellite feeds."

I looked behind me and couldn't see them. I got off the interstate and pulled into a parking garage. I smirked as he looked clueless.

I handed him a map, "That's the hideouts location. I might lose consciousness doing this."

I got out of the car. I found a vehicle that looked similar enough. I then altered the external hardware or my car and the other vehicle so they changed appearance. As I finished I felt my consciousness sliding and I got into the passenger seat and started the car before fainting. The car would remain on until he turned it off, otherwise he couldn't have driven it anywhere.

I woke up a few hours later, very sore. He was sitting in the car, waiting for me. She was awake but wasn't out of the back. We had made it back. I took a deep breath and got out of the car, motioning for them to follow. The bullet had taken her in the right shoulder. The hideout was underground.

"How big is this place?" He asked.

"I found it, not entirely sure how big it is," I answered him. "Some areas need some fixing up, but most is good."

He walked off, "I'll be looking for a room."

"This way," I laughed as I realized something. "I still don't have your name."

"Rachel," She said as she followed me. "My twin brother's name is Raymond."

I glanced over at her and smirked. She glared at me, "Don't you dare."

"Dare what?" I continued smirking. "I set up my lab this way, it's where I keep the medical supplies."

"How did you get all this stuff anyways?" She asked. "I mean where did it come from?"

"The truth is I stole most of it," I frowned. "I'm not proud of it but it was necessary. I plan on repaying for all of it when I can."

A few minutes later we got to the lab and she sat down on the hospital bed.

"Do you have any allergies?" I asked.

She shook her head, "None that I know of."

"Alright," I handed her a pill. "It's penicillin, just in case it got infected."

I made her lean back as I found the tools and poured some medical alcohol on the wound. She gave a small yelp in pain.

"Sorry," I whispered. I carefully extracted the bullet and dropped it on the plate next to her. It was a hollow point. "Guess you're lucky you're tougher than a normal human."

"Thank you," She smiled at me. I smiled back.

I finished up on the wound so it wouldn't get infected or bleed. I took her down to the housing area and found her a room.

"If that gives you any trouble my room is just down the hall," I pointed. "Can't miss it, it's the one that's been fixed up." I started to walk away.

She nodded, "Jared?"

I stopped and turned back, "Yeah?"

"If they found us at school where we weren't using our powers at all can't they find us here?" She looked quite concerned.

I shook my head, "I cast a spell of sorts, you can't use powers to divine the locations of anyone inside this place or the place itself. We're safe, not to mention I have about twenty different alarm systems set up. We'd know they are here before they did."

She looked much more at ease, "Good, when is dinner then?"

I shrugged, "I had been eating whenever I got hungry I guess now that there are other people here we should eat together so we grow a bond that will help us better in the inevitable fights that will come."

She nodded, "Show me the kitchen then."

"Don't you want to get settled?" I wondered.

"Nope, it's not that I'm hungry I just don't have anything to get settled with," She grinned.

"Oh well," I scratched my chin. "We could fix that."

"I don't want to go steal stuff," She objected.

I laughed, "I meant go to your house and take your stuff tonight and your brother's things as well."

"That'll work."

"Good," I led her to the kitchen. "I'll be in my shop, still haven't finished some modifications on my car." I walked off and went to my workshop.

(If curious Luke I'm basically having Victor use his power to find people as I'm sure you would have him do anyways. :) Oh and the place they are in is an old base that was created by a previous generation of their people but never found.)

Sun

Coming back into the room, I asked my daughter with a concerned look on my face, "is everything alright? you keep having strange visitors."

"yes, everything will be fine as soon as we get home. will you talk to the doctor to see what he can do?"

--a few minutes later--
"We'd really rather keep her here another night to make sure everything is alright."

"I understand, but she really would like to go home, and seems to be doing much better."

"Perhaps she could use a little sunshine, why don't you take her for a walk. We'll see how she handles that, and then I will let you know my decision."

"Oh, thank you doctor!"

The nurse brought us a wheelchair and a blanket and escorted us to the door, "Now, I don't want any funny business, Mrs. Landon. I'm going to trust you to bring her back in here so the doctor can decide. We already had one patient run off on us this week." she shook her head and went back inside.

"Well, she doesn't have to worry, I wouldn't want to go home without my lucky T-shirt." Rain grinned as I wheeled her around.

An idea came to my mind, I remembered the girl that came to visit had cured Rain just by touching her head, "let me try something." I whispered to her. I then pushed her to a corner of the garden where no people were. I then place my hands gently on her head and focused my energy. I could feel her pain and suffering, it was as if I was taking her pain and giving her my energy. After a few moments I was feeling exhausted, "how do you feel, my dear?" I nearly gasped from lack of air.

"I'm fine," she quickly turned to look at me, "but mom, how are you? you look terrible."

"Oh, I think I'll be alright. Let's just sit under this tree for a bit to rest, and then we'll go see what the doctor has to say. I have a feeling he'll let you go home. Like the doctor said, all you needed was a little Sunshine."

She grinned and hugged me. We just sat there in silence, hugging one another for what seemed like forever.

Alex

I smirked, my plan had worked perfectly. Jessica was now on our side and Ivar was now in emotional turmoil. They didn't even realize I'd made her kiss him. I laughed manically at the situation.

"So Jessica?" I turned back to her. Mathis, Jessica and Brindee were all sitting in my lair. "Want to get even with your father? He is the one that assigned them to work together."

She answered, "What did you have in mind?"

"Ruining his reelection plans," I grinned. "You see the media still knows little about what's going on. So you just go back to your house and ask your father if you can give a speech on his behalf and once the entire USA is watching, you tell them what you really think of him." I chuckled slightly at the thought but added, "No not really, you read this." I handed her a piece of paper. "With a new administration comes our greatest chance of victory, the turmoil that will ensue will offer us a chance to capture and few of them and if necessary, kill them."

She read the paper and smiled, "He'll be ruined."

"I know," I grinned wickedly. The whole place filled with evil laughter.

(Okay a bit corny but that's the point.)

Brian

Kimberly and I were driving down the streets checking on our latest lead when we got a call to stake a place out and wait for somebody. They gave us a name but I forgot it.

"So Kim--" I was cut off by her kissing me. The problem wasn't so much the kiss it was probably the fact that I liked it.

She pushed back a few moments later, "I'm sorry I just couldn't stop myself like the time--" She stopped as a familiar voice screamed at me.

"You cheater!" Jessica was only a short distance away. "I saw the way you kissed her back. We're done, it's over Ivar." She spat my real name out on purpose.

Kim noted it but didn't say anything. I slammed my head into the steering wheel and drove Kim back to the office.

"Get out," I told her.

"But Brian we are still on duty," She complained. "I'll get in trouble again."

I didn't reply. I just drove out into the country and vented my angry on an empty field for the day.

Jared

I looked behind me when she said 'boys' and saw the little kid known only as William. Wow this kid really does get around.

"Can I speak with you Rain?" After a moment's pause I added, "Alone."

Rain seemed relaxed more now that I mentioned Ivar's name. She nodded and the nurse walked out.

"Go wait in my car William." I said to the boy. He looked unhappy but complied. I closed the door behind me and stepped closer. I felt her body in turmoil as I stepped closer.

"What happened to you?" I asked. "Are you one of us?"

She gulped, obviously hesitant. I interrupted her, "Alex has been here."

She nodded, "How do you know that?"

"It was a guess," I explained. "He came to visit me as well. I turned him down and he tried to kill me. You are in a much more public place and therefore that was not an option for him, but he'll be back and even if he isn't there are others who would have detected the same electrically anomaly that brought me here. You have to leave as soon as possible."

"Okay?" She looked slightly distraught.

I turned to her and looked her in the eye, "I promise I won't intentionally cause you harm, ever." I had to add, "Unless it is in self defense, against you. Just trust me okay?"

That really seemed to help her trust me. She didn't look worried at all. She probably should have I didn't actually prove I had magic and if I didn't my word would be as worthless as a politicians.

"So where should I go?" Rain asked.

"Your home of course," I shook my head. "You should be safe there and if not," I handed her a small device with a button and a second smaller device. "Swallow the small device, it won't hurt you in any way. The first one you need to push every hour or the other one will send out an untraceable, unstoppable, undetectable signal to me and I'll come get you."

I walked to the window, " You seem like a good girl Rain, keep it that way okay?"

She stared at me out as I donned my armor and stepped out the window, now flying. I yelled in the window, "Oh yeah and if you press it twice in a row I'll come running, well flying."

I flew to the ground, got in my car and drove off, She doesn't talk much, but I guess I didn't give her much of a chance.

(Better?)

Rain

I was just about to take another nap when some boys came into the room. They was the third "visitors" I had had that day. And I had never seen any of them before in my life. I just hoped they weren't nearly as annoying as my last visitor, mumbling something about joining his cause then when I refused he did something that caused my body to relapse (thus the reason for still being in this awful place!)

"Danson sent me"

Oh great. I rolled my eyes, what does this moron want. Assuming that anyone who was a friend of Ivar's had to be a moron, all jocks are.

"You're sure popular today, miss Rain." the nurse grinned as she took my blood pressure. Then she leaned over and whispered in my ear, "is he someone special? Your heart rate is off the charts!"

I wasn't sure how to react to that, so I just nodded and chuckled under my breath. "So, what can I help you two boys with today?" I said casually, as if I'd known them a long time.

Furthering the story

Victor was standing in a black room with a light on him.

"Agent 23, after knowing your specialties and knowing we can't fight this battle unarmed, you have been sworn to protect this land from any threat and I think you know what you're capable of along with the rogues. The only safe way to disarm these potential bombs is to break the bond. this is your main duty, to ensure it to the end."

"sir I know it's in my contract." a little annoyed about just finding out what all the trimmers meant, but now there was only one thing he really cared about. "what about my boy."

"neutralize him and we won't have a problem. You're dismissed, you'll have all the support of the CDC. No one will you know you exist. Be... sly, we have to stop this infection before the world implodes from it spreading."

Victor stared at the ground, he agreed that these powers were too much for any one and this would be the only humane way to do it... he didn't want to think of a necessary alternative

-"Agent 23...Agent-Victor"

"what?"

"watch your six"

After Victor left the room. the Dr. leaned over. "should we tell him about the chip?"

"no, if he finds a loop hole in the contract, goes rabid we need to take him out." the burly man looking over to a man in the corner looking intently at a monitor. "any progress on the anomaly known as Marco?"

"well after he went through the floor we lost him. What we need to do is know more about his abilities and what type of spectrum he's running at, in order to fully neutralize-" the monitor began to slowly start beeping. Marco quickly ducked his head back into the wall. He could hear gunshots. "oh no, they got Victor on the strings."

Down the corridor "there he is!"

Marco: "oh crap! got to get help."

Since no one else is posting

Marty and Jeff are alone in the computer lab searching the radar for surges of energy around the globe, in hopes they'll find Alex or Jared. It's around noon, the meeting had taken place at 7 that morning.

"Hey, Jeff, what are all these little blips over in Canada? And Russia? And, hey, there's one in Africa!"

"Nothing, Marty. They're just blips. They don't mean anything." he pushed a few buttons and the blips went away.

"You want something? I'm starving, I feel like we've been at this for hours. I wonder if the others are having any luck out in the field?"

"I'm sure they're just as tired and hungry as we are, since they haven't contacted us yet. A hot dog sounds great right about now. I think I saw a vendor just down the street on my way to the meeting this morning."

"Great! I'll be right back! You like it with everything, right?"

"Right, hurry back." After Marty left the room, Jeff pushed a few buttons and made the blips reappear on the screen, "Now, let's see who we've got here." He clicked on one of the blips and an image of a beautiful African girl came up. "Yes, I think Alex will enjoy having you on our team."

--meanwhile, in Africa--
"Look, I don't know who you are, but if you don't leave me alone I am going to have you arrested."

"I'd like to see you try, Dalia." Alex grinned.

"How do you know my name?"

"I know more than that about you, and if you don't join my team I am telling your father what really happened to his precious vineyard."

"You wouldn't!"

"Try me."

--back in the observatory--
"Hey, Jeff. Sorry, they were out of. . .who's that?"

Jeff quickly pushed a few buttons and made the screen go black, "Oh, no my computer just rebooted! What were they out of?"

"Sour kraut. Did you locate the suspects yet?"

"No, nothing yet." he suppressed a grin as he took a big bite of his hot dog, "I'm sure it's only a matter of time now."

"Gee, I hope so. This job isn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be."

"Just a matter of time." he said softly with a slight grin on his lips.

*Jeff's power is teleportation. He's the kid in the military looking clothes on the title.*

updates

Marco was reflecting on the crest of the roof slightly sulking "aw the girl's having a problem with her mom, I just sap that memory and...chaos had happened. There was a bee and the hospital. bargity." Melancholy, Marco simmered over his failed help. "I got to do something to make things right."

The father MB seemed to be rather preoccupied, the mother was not to be consoled. The worst of it Marco didn't even fade out of existence like he had at the ice cream place. "I miss Victor and our old smashing days." in the mist of his recollections a boy came up the street fuming but obviously wanting to take his mind off it.

"Stupid dad running off to another mission." Johny stated in grief, "totally thought after the ice cream parlor he'd be different. Not to mention uncle Jerry keeps almost dieing by freakish accidents every night."

"Dude! I can help with that." Marco thought to himself has he hovered over to the boy. and swung his hand threw the boys head. "one of my psychedelic moments in my past should help a lot."

The boy seemed to pause, stumble then he meandered off the road (100 yards away form Rain's house) and slowly laid down his head smiling an unnatural smile.

Marco grinned. "there one good deed for the day-" ring! ring! Marco cocked his head. As the ring tone turned into Beethoven emitting from a black box that fallen the ground. "weird I must not have been alive when those things were invented."

Marco picked it up 'n' song it open "hello?" it was Victor. "Dude! what up! long time no see"

on Victor's end

What, Victor thought to himself, while Marco was rambling, he thought that he had gotten rid of Marco.

"whoa-whoa where's Johny?"

"oh right here."

"let me talk to him"

Marco looked over, Johny had began to drool a little bit.
"he's a little indisposed"

"Marco I'm not playing around here-"

Johny began to soil himself. Suppressing laughter Marco said "of course not."

Unamused Victor persisted "where's Johny?"

"going to the bathroom pfff!"

"Marco, I only get one call. Can you take a message?"

"oh that's fine I'll come over there."

"wait no!"

Pulling a ghost dad, Marco filtered threw the wires and spewed out on the other end like spaghetti. "GAH! don't touch me again!" Trimmer.

After some solidification "Sorry Vic, so whats the situation?" then Marco looked around. It was a dark room, (Marco could be seen) there were men standing around in a big circle looking aggressive. Victor was in a bio containment suit and a burly man in the background picked up a phone. "get me sector 7 paranormal activity"

Marco "no cake?"

Jared

(Short one)

The race the previous night was great, I won of course and I didn't realize there was a prize involved. Five thousand dollars, I was a little bit shocked and almost felt bad since my car wasn't even in the same league with those guys, almost. The kid's name turned out to be William, nice kid too. I felt a tremor of electronics going haywire nearby. I was cruising the streets at the moment and decided to stop by.

It was a hospital, yeah I know I'm not a big fan of these places but I was curious. The front desk stopped me.

"Who are you here to see?" My mind froze for a moment.

"My mom," I answered. "She just had a baby, which way."

She just pointed down a hall. Once out of sight I continued towards the area I felt the disturbance. I was born in this hospital. The thought just occurred to me. I shook it off and glanced into a room, there was a nurse taking some readings from a girl and a woman, I presumed was the girl's mother, standing nearby anxiously.

I stepped inside, "Excuse me I think I'm lost." The nurse didn't look over. The girl glanced over nervously. "There is no reason to be afraid." I smiled. "I just need to make sure I'm in the right place."

She looked at me as if I was going to kill her. I thought quickly, "A friend of yours said I would find you here, at least I think it's you. Ivar Dannson sent me? Your name is Rain right?" That little brother really did follow his older brother just about everywhere, amazing really. Quite a capable young man.

Rain

I kept fading in and out of consciousness. I remember the doctors saying things like, "we need more . . ." and "she's starting to stabilize again." I opened my eyes, my mom rushed to my side.

"Oh, you're awake sweetie! Do you want something to eat?"

All I could do was nod my head, I was so weak and dizzy. As my mom left the room, the nurse came in to check my vitals, "You're giving us all quite a scare little missy! Glad to see your eyes open. You have a visitor." She moved aside so I could see who was there. I had never seen the girl before in my life, I prayed that she was not here to finish me off. "All done, I will give you a minute alone with your friend." I nearly panicked.

"Don't worry, I am not here to hurt you." the girl reassured, "your dad sent me to help." She laid her hands on my head, as if to give me some kind of blessing. She then closed her eyes and pointed her face towards the ceiling. I could feel her energy soaring through my veins. The machines were going crazy. I saw a black mist pouring out of my body, as if she was expelling all the evil from me. She finished seconds before the doctor came rushing in.

"What's going on in here!?" he shouted, pushing the girl aside. He grabbed my wrist to take my pulse, but paused as he noticed the machines returning to normal. I looked at him and grinned. "Why, it's as if. . .everything is back to normal. You look. . .100 times better!"

My mom came into the room, nearly spilling the breakfast she'd brought me. "Is everything alright doctor? Who are you?" She asked the girl. The girl just shrugged and slipped out the door. She was gone before anyone even knew what had happened.

"Your daughter, she. . .just a few more tests, she may be coming home today."

My mom set the tray on my bedside table and hugged me, tears streaming down her face, "we were afraid we'd lose you!"

Mike

"Alright guys, since it's Sunday I will try to keep this brief. Since MB's daughter is in the hospital I am in charge for a few days. She got stung by a bee, who apparently is one of you. Don't laugh, this is serious. Ridiculous, but serious. The bee that stung her is not on our side, she's a cheerleader from Brian's school named Brindee. Mostly harmless, unless you are allergic to bees. The doctors have been pumping medication into Rain for the last 24 hours and just as she seems to be getting better, the bee poison comes back into her system somehow. She's not in critical condition yet, but, Allison we may need you."

"Me? Why me?"

"In case you hadn't noticed, you never have any scratches or bruises on you and you are constantly running into things. Anyway, that's your new mission. Good work getting information on that kid Jared. He told Brian and Kim he's on our side, and has already recruited another member for our team."

"Where are they? How come they aren't at this meeting?" Marty mumbled.

"Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, Marty. Our opposing team consists of 3 members so far." Mike laid three folders on the table containing pictures and information on the three kids, "Alex appears to be the leader. He is highly dangerous and should never be approached alone. We need to take him in before he gets more reinforcements. Right now, he seems to be focusing his efforts on two people, Jared and Jessica, the president's daughter. We need to keep them on our side no matter what!"

"So, who's the other kid Jared recruited?" Brian asked.

"Funny you should ask, I think you should need to see him for yourself. Let's just say this kid is a lot younger than the rest of you. Oh, and before I forget, the local police are trying to get in our way. They've got Mr. Taber in captivity. I am not sure why, but we need to find his son before they do. Got it everyone? I'm not giving anyone anything specific to do except Allison. The rest of you are all going to focus your energy on finding Johnson, Jared, and Alex and bringing them to head quarters. For some reason we keep losing them from our radar."

Jared

* In an obscure abandoned scrap car yard *

There I was minding my own business when I hear an audible gasp. I crawled out from underneath the car and saw a kid no more than ten years old staring at my car.

"Don't even think about touching my car," I growled.

The boy now laughed, "You call that a car? You certainly put it in the right place. It's like it belongs here."

I blinked, this kid's audacity surprised me. There was one thing in this world I did care about, my car and he was blatantly calling it a piece of scrap metal.

"How does it even run?" He continued unfazed by my stare. "I mean some of the cars here look to be in better condition."

"Fine I can make it look nicer if that would suit you," I said.

"Please do, it really pains me to look at it," He taunted.

I put my hand on the vehicle and the paint job and outer bodywork repaired as I used my power on it. It was a silver convertible, resembling the horse design but slightly modified. His eyes went so wide I thought they were going to pop out of his head.

"How'd you do that?" He asked.

I grinned, "Magic."

"Magic?" He looked happy rather than surprised. "I have magic too."

I raised an eyebrow, he was too young to have been there himself unless he got and organ to something from someone who was there.

"Do any of your siblings have magic?" I asked as I crawled back underneath the car.

"My brother Ivar does," He sounded sad. "But he ditched me and went to work for the government."

"Really?" I nearly laughed, but I held it in. "I'm sorry. Maybe I can do something to help."

"There are some races tonight a few miles from here, maybe you could take me," He sounded happy.

"What kind of races?" I asked.

"Car races."

I smirked, "How would I go about getting entry to one of these?"

"With this thing?" He did not sound impressed. "It looks cool and all but it's not a race car."

"When I'm done with these modifications it will be just about anything I need it to be," I grinned, he obviously had no idea what I meant.

I crawled out from underneath and looked at him, "You should be going. I'll be here, remember I didn't ask you where exactly I still need you to get to the race. Just swing by before they happen and show me the way."

He left and I smiled, I was going to be able to test out my new baby in a real race.

What is magic?

What is magic?
My friends say it doesn’t exist.
But I can feel it, though not with my hands.
I can hear it but not with my ears.
I can see it, not with my eyes.
Taste and smell but not with my mouth or nose.
From all senses, maybe a sixth sense or no sense at all.
It is everywhere and nowhere.
It moves like fluid, it swirls all around me, inside me.
I can sense it in others, most are dim, some brighter, more powerful.
Now I need to learn how to understand it and how to control it.

Kimberly

After being briefed I assured them I wouldn't screw this up a second time. We had traveled in a car this time and reached the town he was supposed to live in the early evening. We had no idea where to begin looking for him so we decided to hit the mall and see if anything turned up. Well their mall wasn't much but it wasn't bad. We left Mike in the car we left him a spare key if he needed it, he was asleep anyways.

A kid bumped into me, he had blue jeans and a black polo. I nudged Brian and he turned to look. The kid looked back and smirked at us, almost daring us to follow him. Well we didn't have much choice and we did so. He headed into a cafe and sat in a corner booth with his back to the corner. We walked over and sat down at his table.

"I've been expecting you," He glanced at Brian. He looked at me, "But you, you are not right."

"What do you mean?" I demanded. "I'm not alright?"

He shrugged and nodded, "I'd have to do more tests but yes, something about you is definitely not human."

Brian laughed and he said quietly, "I don't know if you noticed but I'm not exactly human either."

The kid rolled his eyes, "Really? I hadn't noticed. You were sent from the government to..." He paused, looking for the right word, "Assess me?"

"Not exactly," Brian looked uncomfortable. "We are suppose to take you in whether you join us or not."

"You don't look like you like that order," The boy looked displeased. He glanced past us and then stood up, "Let's go then and let's be quick about it."

I followed his gaze but didn't see anything unusual, "What's going on?"

"I'll tell you later," He answered.

We stood and went to our car. He shook his head, "That's no good. I can't believe you two led them right to me."

"Them?" Brian asked. "The darkness?"

The kid nodded, "My name is Jared by the way." He was still walking. I glanced behind us and saw a group of people round the corner.

The boy rounded a corner and started to run. I looked at Brian and followed after him. We got around another corner before they could see which way we had gone.

"Now explain who they are and why they are after us," I nearly shouted.

"They are trying to kill my, our, kind off forever," He said. "At least I think that's the right group. For all I know they could be the government except that I recognized him. You don't look well that's why I mentioned it, it's probably nothing."

Brian nodded, "He is right you don't look so good."

"So where are we headed?" I asked Jared.

"My car," He answered. "It's a little busted up but it'll get us back to your headquarters."

"So you are coming with us, just like that ready to sign your life away?" Brian seemed agitated. "Don't you desire freedom in the least?"

"Who said I was going to sign my life away?" Jared retorted. "I just have more than enough enemies without the government after me as well. Your buddies Alex and Mathis stopped by too. So yeah I have enough enemies."

"Mathis is powerless, he broke his word," Brian snickered.

"I guess the bolt of lightening struck me on it's own then, and on a clear sky," Jared replied calmly.

We made it to the car and got in. Jared insisted he drive.

"Do you even know how to get to Washington from here?" Brian asked.

Jared only nodded and he made Brian sit in the back. He actually had a fairly nice car if he could have gotten it fixed up. I looked back and saw the guys pulling up.

Jared looked in the mirror and smirked, "Let's go."

He put the car in gear and began driving. He quickly pulled away from the other guys, but he was speeding very badly. We heard the lights and saw a cop car behind us. I heard his phone start ringing.

"Uh," Jared explained. "You'd better answer that, it's my uncle."

I took the phone off his arm and answered it, "Hello?"

"Who are you and where is my nephew?" A gruff looking man asked. He had a police helmet on.

"I'm a CIA agent and right now your son is driving me to safety," I answered honestly.

"Riiighht. Let me talk to Jared," He demanded. "And tell him to pull over already, I'd hate to have to arrest him."

I faced the phone towards Jared, "Sorry Uncle Fred, I can't pull over there are some really bad people trying to kill us right now."

Jared shifted again. Six gears? Did he modify this thing? He began to pull away from the cop car and I saw the speedometer going over one hundred sixty. It didn't have more numbers than that.

Jared smirked and he said, "If this baby had wings I could make her fly."

We got back to Washington in what must have been record time, at least for cars. He dropped us off in front of the headquarters as we directed and he drove off before we could say anything more.

"Great we had him this close and then we lost him," Brian complained.

I shook my head, "He'll be back."
