I (Rain) was outside helping my mom with some gardening when Brindee flew by. "So, have you decided anything? You can't leave me hanging like this."
"What's your problem? I'm not mad at my parents anymore, in fact I can't remember why I was even mad in the first place."
"Come on, I am so bored! I need something to do."
"Why don't you go join a hive or something? I'm busy."
"Fine, if you won't do anything, I will!" With that, she flew over to where my mom was kneeling over some flowers. It was the perfect target. Brindee was headed straight for her.
"Mom, watch ou-" I jumped towards her trying to block the irritating little cheerleader. "OW!" She flew right into my forehead.
"I'm not dead! HA HA HA! I am invincible! Sweet!" She then flew off towards our neighbor's house.
"What's wron-oh dear, that's going to be tender for a few days." She said noticing the swelling pink bump on my forehead.
"Mom, one of those chosen babies turned into a bumble bee and she was trying to kill you-oh, I don't feel so well." everything suddenly went dark.
--Brindee in flight--
I whizzed through the trees, I had never felt so alive! Well, actually, I was starting to feel a little tired. I decided to stop on a small dandelion to rest when suddenly something huge and metal came crashing to the ground. I was about to go investigate when two boys ran up behind me.
"We're too late! He got away!"
"Don't worry, we know where to find him. He can't hide forever. But we need more people."
I changed back into my human form, and recognized one of the boys to be Mathis an old boyfriend of mine. "Hey boys, did I hear you needed some backup?" They turned around quickly.
"Where did you come from?"
"I was here the whole time, sweetie, you just couldn't see me because I was a bee."
"A bee? what kind of lame power is that?" the other boy scoffed, "thanks but no thanks." He started to turn away and was getting ready to pursue the metal boy.
"Are you allergic to bees? Did you know there is a 1 in 3 chance of being allergic to bees? Those are pretty good odds. The best part is that I don't die when I sting people."
"Hmm, that is interesting. Well, ok. I guess you can come along. But you have to keep up."
"I thought you'd see it my way." She grinned and then kissed Alex on the cheek, "there's more where that came from."
--meanwhile in the hospital--
"Well how was I supposed to know I was allergic to bees too?"
"It's ok, it's the thought that counts." Sun gently stroked Rain's hair. Rain closed her eyes, and Sun had to fight back the tears as she looked around the room. She hadn't seen her baby hooked up to so many machines since she was a preemie.

"Oh, and one more thing. Just to make sure you don't mess things up again, I am sending Mike with you."
Ivar just rolled his eyes and went out the door to find Kimberly. Allison came out from behind one of the computers.
"How come we don't have this one on our records, sir?"
"I," it was hard for me to admit, "I didn't even know he existed. There is definitely something different with him, something that the rest of you don't have. It's like, he was chosen to be our leader or something. One thing is for sure, we have to get him on our side before someone convinces him to fight against us."
"Why, sir?"
"I would guess that he's more powerful than all of us combined, but that's speculation. Do me a favor, try to get all the information you can on this kid. We can't encounter him until we know what we're up against."
"Yes, sir, right away. One more thing, why Mike? He doesn't have any powers."
"I have my reasons. Right now it isn't important. What is important is your special assignment. As soon as you find anything out, call me. No matter what time it is."
She nodded and then did a little cheer as she jumped into a seat by one of the computers. She started typing something really quickly and was really getting into her work.
Good kid, I just hope she always uses her high energy for good. It was still unclear what exactly her power was, but she was naturally very intelligent and that was her greatest asset to our cause.

* M.B talking with the president *
"I know you told me not to bring this to you but, we have a new situation sir," M.B said handing the president a folder. "Some new kind of power user."
"Armor and he could fly?" The president was obviously skeptical.
"According to one report he took a full bolt of lightening and stood up on the other end of the city after smashing into the ground."
"Who do we have that can handle it?" He asked.
M.B looked around uneasily, "You put him on desk duty sir."
"Ivar is the only one we have?" He looked concerned. "He's going to throw this in our faces, you know that right?"
"Give him a chance sir," M.B pleaded. "He's might have been angry but not without cause, he felt he had no choice but to save her life."
"Fine. You tell him."
M.B nodded and walked out of the room.
* Saturday morning, hours before the above meeting around the same time that Jared was attacked *
I walked into the office and sat down at a desk. Frustrated was the least of his emotions right now.
"Welcome to my world Brian." It was Mike. "You are going to follow my commands until you get off desk duty."
"Do you know why I'm the youngest CIA agent ever Mike?" I asked, innocently.
Mike smirked, "Intimidation won't work on me Brian. I know you can't use your powers here without getting in more trouble."
I stood up and and grabbed him by the throat and picked him up off the ground with a single arm, "I wasn't referring to my powers." I set him down, "I'll do what you say Mike. Just don't intentionally irritate me."
Mike was surprised and quickly collected himself, "Good Brian that's just what I'd expect."
The rest of the day consisted of me being bossed around like some kind of trivial house pet. I could have told the president to go to hell and quit, that was one of the stipulations I insisted on keeping after our negotiations. I could quit whenever I felt like it and not be breaching the contract, but I couldn't let Kimberly be punished alone because of me. I suppose that's why he did it to her as well.
A few hours after noon Jessica burst into the office I was working in. She threw something on the desk in front of me, "What's that?" She was obviously angry, I could almost see the fire seething from her body.
It was my PDA, I picked it up and... I never took that picture.
"I lost this in New York during my last mission. Someone, probably the kid I was fighting, found it and modified this picture," I answered. She wanted to believe me. It was a bad time for my partner to walk in.
"Hey Brian could you help me real quick?" Kimberly was the woman depicted on the PDA.
I shook my head, "I'm a little busy right now."
Kimberly walked out and Jessica looked at me, "Who is that?"
"Look I took this picture," I showed her the one I'd taken of Kimberly walking out of a building as I was being introduced to her. "She's my partner."
"Oh? Your partner?" She took it the wrong way.
"No not like that I-" Jessica cut me off.
"I don't want to hear it Ivar," She had tears running down her face. She was about to leave when I jumped closer and kissed her on the lips.
"We work together on missions," I explained. "That's all."
"And they shared DNA," Allison said, she was trying to get me in trouble.
"No we didn't," I nearly yelled. "I gave her some of my blood because she had lost most of hers. We didn't share I gave her what she needed to survive." Allison disappeared as quickly as she had appeared.
Jessica visibly relaxed, "So you got in a fight with another magic user, lost your PDA but he didn't like you and used it to try and get me to join him?"
I shrugged, "I guess, but how did you get it?"
"One of my friends had it," She said. "I'm going to go now I-"
I cut her off, "My name is Brian here."
"I'll see you later Brian." She walked out. I could tell she was still confused, so I didn't pursue her like I wanted to. She needed her time to think about it.
I went back and sat down at my desk. Kimberly came in a few moments later.
"So that's your girlfriend," Kimberly said. "Seems like a nice girl, a bit confused."
"Someone was trying to make it look like we'd slept together," I answered the obvious, unasked question.
I was about to ask her what she needed me to help with when Secretary Landon walked in.
"You need me," I smirked. "Why should I help you?"
"What?" M.B looked confused. "We have a mission."
"I know. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. So answer my question. Why should I help you?" I asked frankly. "I realize I didn't have authority to reveal the things I did to my partner." M.B raised his hand for me to stop and he motioned for her to leave before he shut the door.
"This has nothing to do with that," M.B said. "This one is more powerful, or seems to be more powerful than any you have encountered yet, possibly even more powerful than you. We need you Ivar."
I leaned back in my chair, "Find somebody else."
"I can expunge this event from her record," He said suddenly. "It will be as though she was only here because we had nothing for her to do."
"Swear it M.B," I demanded. "If you promise it will go away I will take this mission."
He gulped, "I promise I'll make it go away if you complete the mission."
"Done," I stood up. "Oh one more thing. She comes with me."
He nodded, "Fine."

Jared DeFalen
Oh me? I'm your average guy, really I am, except that I'm an orphan. Other than that I get slightly above average grades. I don't have a girlfriend. I'm a sophomore in high school, which is normal for sixteen. I have a small group of friends with whom I associate. Until recently I thought I had a pretty average life. Then last Monday night came around...
I live with my uncle in some small town north of DC. Yeah I know, get on with it right? Fine, last week I had a dream, I was told I was the child of the future and that I should be wary using my powers. It warned me against the coming war and told me I'd have to choose a side, neither side would let me sit idly by once they knew of my power. It told me my family and friends would become a weakness that would be used against me if I didn't let them go. Well, I never had had much use for them before.
Heartless? No, just cool, smooth, calculating, like a giant computer but I guess their was a reason for that.
"Jared!" Someone wanted my attention, but I didn't care. I was relaxing on the small hill outside my backyard.
My uncle had told me my parents had died when I was just a baby, four years old he said. The same time he lost his wife, same accident. Everything was different now that I had my powers, my mind moved incredibly fast and I felt stronger, much stronger. I couldn't remember their death but I swear I remember the earliest memory was minutes after my birth. A saw a woman glowing against the background setting me gently in a crib. She was my mother, the woman in the pictures my uncle had, that was not my mother but I didn't tell him that. It was all so clear in my mind now, before it had been dark as if hidden from me.
The light, it had told me I'd have a truly unique power. I probably did, truth be told I'd never used it before and I hoped I never had to.
"Jared!" That was the third or fourth time my uncle had called my name, this time he added something. "Some of your friends are here."
Strange thing about that, none of them knew where I lived. I walked around the corner and smirked, "Who's your friend Alex?"
Alex smirked, "Jared meet Mathis."
I shook my head, "You are wasting your time and mine. I'm not interested."
"You can't stay out of this war forever Jared," He insisted. "Why not help us fight the injustice in this country?"
"Because you are creating injustice in the process. In my book the end never justifies the means," I growled back. "Get lost and take your pup with you."
"What did you call me?" Mathis evidently had quite a temper.
"I said to take his pup, meaning you, with him." I smirked as I could see his face getting red. "And don't let the door hit you on the way out." They weren't inside my uncle's house.
"Say that again and I swe..." Mathis was cut off but Alex slapping his face.
"Don't you go making any promises you can't keep," He warned. "I broke you out because I needed muscles not brains or lips. So shut up and do as you're told."
Mathis sneered and took a step back.
"What's the matter?" I taunted. "Need a few more before it's an even match with me."
Alex laughed, "Not at all. I was going to take it easy on you. I figured Mathis wouldn't be able to manage that. After I beat some sense into you I'm sure you'll come around."
The door swung open, I didn't turn and look, "Get back inside and whatever you do, don't call the police."
"Wise move."
I felt like an invisible fist came out of the air and grabbed a hold of me. He was trying to keep me immobilized while he threw nearby objects at me. Telekinesis. I took a deep breath and burst the telekinetic grip. Alex looked surprised but not alarmed. I turned around and didn't have time to dodge the lawn mower he'd thrown at me. As I hit the ground one of the blades cut my arm and I began to bleed. I jumped to me feet and focused for a moment, almost instantly the bleeding stopped and the wound healed.
"You are challenging me with healing powers?" Alex began to laugh maniacally. It really didn't fit to have such a nerdy kid laughing like that but I let it slide.
"You know nothing about my powers Alex," I retorted. "Just because I can heal doesn't mean that is the extent of my abilities."
"Then by all means," Alex said after a moment more. "Indulge me."
I grinned as I allowed my body to shift into what it had wanted to for some time. I can't really describe what it looked like and do it any justice so I took a picture for the records. ( :P )
Alex and Mathis both took a stepped back as I soared into the air. This felt good, really good, like I was freeing the true me and the rest was some cage to hold it in. Mathis shot a bolt of lightening and knocked me out of the air. I hit the ground a little shaken but unharmed. Evidently this wasn't any kind of normal metal, possibly bio-metallic would be a better term for it.
I stood up and Alex and Mathis had had sense enough to run while they could, I couldn't see them anywhere nearby. Then again that lightening bolt had shot me clear across the city, the papers would be reeling from that one. The people staring at me made me feel awkward and I found a place to return to normal. My clothes were still intact so evidently it was a form of shape shifting that my clothes became the new me, but that didn't quite feel correct. It didn't matter, the government searchers would be here soon, hopefully they'd have forgotten my face from the dream.
(Sorry it's kind of rantish/rambling.)
Jessica
(Some changes occurred that I haven't edited yet in Luke's post and I might not.)
My best friend came running up to me at the mall, "Hey what's up?"
She looked concerned, distraught really, "I'm sorry Jess, really sorry."
"About what?" I was confused.
She handed me a PDA. I grabbed it and looked, there was a beautiful woman's scantily clad picture on it and it was in a bedroom. The picture was obviously taken by this PDA. I handed it back, "Where'd you get that?"
"Where doesn't matter but you know that's Ivar's," She said.
I looked again, left the pictures area and found Ivar's information.
I looked away, "He must have a good reason for having her picture in a folder labeled important."
She put a hand on my shoulder but I just walked off, I'm going to go ask Ivar about this.
* Across the mall barely in view *
Mathis was looking at the nerdy kid, "So Alex, do you think it'll work?"
Alex nodded as the girl came running up, "There I did what you asked now leave me alone."
"Well we did promise to let her family go if she did what we asked," Alex resigned. "Alright go home, just remember the deal is broken if you ever tell anyone about this."
The girl left and Alex laughed, "It's amazing what you can do to a picture with the right computer software, isn't it?"

Ivar
"Stay for a minute Agent Burnett," The President said to me as the others walked out of the room. Only Secretary Landon, the President and myself remained. "Why did you do it Ivar?"
"Sir," I said respectfully. "I take full responsibility for what happened today please refrain from punishing Agent Grayson and just send her back to her team."
"That's not the question I asked."
He was persistent.
"She got excited when she located the target and followed him when he bolted. She nearly got killed by him because of his power and I was forced to use mine to protect her. You said," I pointed at M.B. "The first rule in this division was to keep each other alive. If I hadn't done everything I did after the first attack she would have died."
"Giving her your blood Ivar?" M.B. asked in disbelief.
"She received an injury and was bleeding out, by the time I found her and got the bleeding stopped she didn't have enough left to survive. I did what I had to do and if the same thing happened next time the only thing I might do differently," I was getting angry. "The only thing I would do differently is not let your surveillance team spy on me. I knew they were watching the whole time I figured they would understand the necessity of the situation and save a life rather than keep protocol. I guess I was wrong. I just hope you would feel differently if it was yours."
I stormed out of the room before they could respond.

Allison and Mike
Mike was a middle aged guy who was put in charge of all the techies.
"So what are we going to do to him?" Allison was practically jumping up and down and running circles around Mike.
"First off, you need to STOP MOVING! Our orders were to stand here by the front entrance until he arrives."
"But what if he doesn't use the front door?"
"What other door would he use? And they say you're smart?" he laughed and gave her a noogie.
She giggled and then stood still, which was really hard for her. Within a few minutes Ivar appeared. He climbed the stairs and greeted the usual door guards. Then he pleasantly greeted Mike who was standing in the front entrance, Allison hiding behind him.
"Hey, I haven't seen you before. You new?"
"No. I'm afraid you're going to have to come with me."
"what? why?"
"Oo, you're in so much trouble!" Allison squealed, and then ducked back behind Mike.
"Save your questions. I'm just your escort."
Ivar didn't seem tense at all as they walked towards MB's office, but he was getting really annoyed with Allison who just kept saying "you're in big trouble." and would then hide from him.
You can talk the talk, but you can't walk the walk. He smirked.
Inside MB's office, the president and Kimberly were waiting along with Jeff and Marty. Once inside, MB's dismissed the surveillance kids but asked Mike to stay.
"Do you know why you two have been brought here?" The president asked. Ivar shrugged, and Kimberly just looked down at her shoes.
"We're putting you under probation for your behavior today. I understand it's your first day, that's why we are not suspending you from the force. That and the fact that you would be a menace to society if we let you go. You will now be put under Mike's charge on surveillance."
He rubbed his hands together and in an abnormally creepy voice said, "ah more specimens." then laughed maniacally. MB shook his head and glared at him, "Uh, I mean, yes sir. I would be happy to add them to my team." the maniacal smile still remained.
