I'd been observing them for quite some time now. I had gotten used to the idea of there being two of me, but now that there was only me again it seemed odd. The other Kim was less skilled than myself and made it a habit to get killed, which drained both of us. I of course did everything in my power to stay alive. Unknown to them, I was actually living in the same place as them.
A few times I ran into Jared, Kindra or Rachel, but I told them I was just a memory. They didn't believe me of course, but they understood that I wanted to remain hidden. I just wish my other half hadn't been so foolish.
Now that it was all over, I felt safe to come out of hiding. I was a lot older than they had remembered me, I had survived many decades. I met Sterling and Rain face to face. I stood in their way.
"Excuse us." Rain said politely.
"You can't go."
"What? Who are you? And what right do you have. . ." then it hit him, "Kim? But we thought you were dead."
"Not yet. But this will be the last time I die." I said humbly, "You can't leave. The virus has already effected you and will eventually effect your ship. You will never make it home. And if you did, you would destroy them. There is no way of knowing how this virus would effect your people, it's best not to risk it."
"She's right." Rain slipped her hand into his and squeezed it tight, "Besides, Kindra needs us. And Rachel's son needs a playmate." she grinned warmly.
"Then it's settled. Come on, let's go tell the others we're not leaving after all."
"Please walk slow," I started, "I don't have the strength that I used to have. My old age is catching up to me. Now that the virus has taken over my body, I suspect I only have a short time left before I can finally cross over to the other side."
"You've been looking forward to this for a long time, haven't you?" Rain said as she put her arm around me.
"Longer than you'll ever know." I winked, "suffice it to say, I was there when Noah built his ark."
CONCLUSION:
Once they all met up again, they went deep into hiding. Kim only survived a few more hours. Rain and Rachel both gave birth to beautiful baby boys. Sterling stepped in to be father to both boys. And the rest is history. . .

Sometime in the past
Mike and Kim were left at the door in a panic. Then Mike realized something, he had the same ability as the man who invented the door in the first place. He got the door open in time for a few people to enter before a hoard of arrows came whizzing through the trees. One hit Kim and another hit him. He thought they were goners until a familiar woman pulled them into the fortress and shut the door.
They could hear the turmoil outside, but knew that they would be safe in the fortress. Kindra smiled when she recognized the girl she had rescued, "I knew you would come back for us."
Mike was genuinely confused, and even more so when Kim gasped her last breath of air and suddenly turned into a happy healthy five year old. Kindra could see his confusion and decided to tell him what was going on.
"She is one of the ancients, we believe. As far as we know, she can't die. When she dies she is reborn. The only problem is, as time goes by she loses her memories that were once restored with every birth."
"Why is that?" Mike was feeling faint.
"I don't know, we figure she just blocks out all the horrible things she seen in her life."
"I see. I don't mean to cut you off, but I haven't got a lot of time left. I need to tell you some things."
"Go on." She put his head on her lap and listened intently.
"You need to warn them."
"Warn who?"
"The last generation. My generation. Terrible things are going to happen if you don't warn them."
"I see." he countenance grew dim
"No, you need to be the light. You're the only hope these kids will have. And your son, Jared. You need to start creating him as soon as possible. . ."
"What? I'm not even married."
"Please, I. . .I'm fading fast. Do this last thing for me, when I die cut off my arm so you will always be able to open this door."
It was the last thing he said. Kindra sat helplessly holding this stranger in her arms. Just then a man entered the room. "He's right. The first thing we need to do is try to save as many of this generation first."
--Flash Forward in time--
Kindra and the man (Jared's father) have been locked away for some time. Every once in a while they had tried to mentally make a baby. Their first few attempts failed and ended in still birth or miscarriages. The guards were starting to get wise to the situation, so Kindra developed a new power that manipulated the minds of the guards to see her starving and thin instead of pregnant.
This was difficult to maintain because they kept switching guards on her. Mike was one of the successful births (the others had been killed by the government as soon as they were discovered). Luckily, there was a new man in charge, and he decided he wanted to study Mike. So he raised him as his own. Mike was never told where he had come from or anything about magic.
Eventually, his adopted father discovered that Mike didn't have any powers and decided to train him to be a super soldier. To his dismay, Mike wasn't interested in killing people, but instead interested in the advances in technology.
Kim had been killed a few times, and as Kindra predicted suppressed most of her memories. The only memory she kept was her combat training. She was discovered by the government in the 70s, killed, then reborn. So they decided to keep a close eye on her and try to raise her as their own. She, of course, rebelled and ran away. Being naive, she didn't survive on the streets very long. Eventually in the 2004 she was reborn again, and managed to find an orphanage to live in.
Needless to say, the government was very excited to discover her in high school in the 2020. She was 16 and very persuadable. As soon as she graduated and turned 18 the government owned her.
Since technically there were two Kim's living in that window of time between when she arrived in the past and when she left the present, only one Kim retained her memories. Once she was out of that window of time, the original Kim came out of hiding. This Kim is completely different from the Kim that we are familiar with. She has never met any of the other characters but knows all about them, since she retains all of the memories that her other self forgot as well as her own.

I watched helplessly as Rachel and Kindra tried to fight Deothanos. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to try what Kindra had suggested. Only instead of speeding up time for Deothanos I actually froze time. Somehow I had managed to focus the magic only on him, but it only lasted a minute. Jared had come in while I was attempting to help and had somehow taken that power from me.
I wasn't angry, but it made me feel more helpless. As they struggled to get the Jewl from one another, I discovered that I had another ability that I wasn't aware of. As the Jewl slipped from Jared's hand and headed towards Deothanos I stopped it midair. It just floated there between the three of us for a moment until Deothanos overpowered us and held the Jewl in his hand.
I decided to join the girls for moral support. We watched Jared outsmart Deothanos. As his powers drained he became older and frail. Until eventually his old age caught up to him and he didn't have enough power left to stand. Though I had learned to hate this man from the time I was a small child I ran to him.
I lifted Deothanos' head and hugged him in my arms. "Why did you do it, Uncle?"
"Greed, my son, greed." He was surprisingly at peace, as if Jared had humbled his rebellous spirit.
We listened as Jared explained to Rachel and Kindra the responsibility they held.
"Those are wise words, my boy, but don't believe in such fairy tales. People are what they are, and in time another foolish man will come along and thirst for all the power in the universe. You must train your boy, and train him well. Listen to Kindra, become her devoted servant."
"Yes, uncle. I will."
"You're a good kid, I always liked you." He smiled a senile smile then closed his eyes and departed in spirit.
I cried openly, he was the last remaining of my family. Then I realized something, "No, he's not."
I stood up boldly and went to find Rain. We came back to talk to the others. "I am going home. I don't know if we'll make it, but I'm going to try. Before coming here, I gave most of my power to my ship. I am hoping the virus hasn't mutated enough to effect my ship yet." I then gently pulled the Jewl from the cold hand that was holding it, and handed it to Kindra, "as long as you have this, I will always be able to find you."
"We'll miss you!" Rain sobbed as she hugged the girls. We then parted ways and boarded our ship. "You'll love our home, especially now that you're a queen."

The World Situation
A week after first exposure riots began worldwide as nothing was able to stop this super-virus and it was beginning to kill people. Madagascar even closed all their ports and were killing anyone who tried to get there by boat, but somehow the virus got to them anyways. Every world government was overthrown in a matter of days, the dictatorships ran out of bullets and even burning the bodies didn't seem completely effective, probably because the infection rate was one hundred percent of people who were susceptible got the virus if they even came within twenty feet of an infected person.
People began to come together in groups, away from cities as the cities destroyed themselves. Two months after the last city went silent, as if the universe were saying it is done, the cities structures all around the world began to break down as the virus mutated even further and began to affect metal and concrete, even plastic. One year later and all of the worlds technology had faded, all that remained were isolated pockets of humans. The only children or elderly that had survive had been immune to the virus. Of those that weren't immune no one over the age of thirty or under the age of sixteen lived.

Jared
(It's taking too long so I figured out a way to slide this in there smoothly.)
My poor Kindra, her vision was failing already and I had only begun to do what I had set out to do. That's alright though, in the process I discovered the Jewl had many more properties than I had ever imagined.
I saw Sterling walk into the room where my wife and daughter were fighting Deothanos. I walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry brother. We can overcome him."
I walked into the room and waved at him. Everything in the room seemed to freeze as he looked at me. Rachel stopped attacking and so did Kindra. All three watched me as though I could move the world with this power and I could, but I needed something else.
"Hello Uncle," I smiled. "Well I guess you'd be more like a distant cousin."
He scowled, "So you really are a member of the royal house like me then?"
"Yes," I responded. "My ancestor forsook the throne and passed it to your ancestor, but that's beside the point. You want this don't you?" I held up the Jewl, taunting him.
His eyes lit up and he tried to rip it from my hands with his magic. I firmly held on to it and grinned, "I'm going to make you fight for it."
"You will lose," He answered. "I've been holding back thus far."
"I know," I held my grin. "And I was letting you keep me in prison. So I guess we're even. Oh wait that's right, I have the Jewl, even has no meaning now."
He again tried to rip it from my hands, this time he almost succeeded and it stopped somewhere in the air between us. He began throwing things at me trying to break my focus. I altered the metal in the room and created a barrier to protect me.
Rachel and Kindra stood behind me ready to act. I glanced back, "Stay out of this one girls. Just trust me."
A moment later I got hit by an object and thrown into a wall, "No!" The Jewl reached his hands and the walls of the room shook. Everyone slammed into the far walls, except me and he began crushing them like they were flies.
"Deothanos," I screamed. "I'm the one you're after, let them go!"
"Oh very well," He sighed. "But they were such fun little pets. Perhaps I'll keep Kindra and Rachel alive as my personal slaves. They are very beautiful, give them a few years and they'll be perfect."
I growled at him as he threw me around the room like a rag doll. He then picked me up and tried to crush me but to no avail.
"Why aren't you dying?" He said in frustration. "This should be working."
I smiled as I broke the grip he had on me and walked up to him, "Can't you feel it working?"
"I feel my power draining away," He complained. "How?"
"I altered the properties of the Jewl, it is giving me all you powers because you used its power," I shrugged. "I knew you'd fall for using it."
"There must be a catch," Deothanos said.
"I will die," I said frankly. "But so will you, your body is too old for the virus it is infected with."
"What are you going to do?" He asked. "Why did you need all my power and yours added together?"
"I need it to make certain nothing like you can ever happen again," I answered calmly as I picked up the Jewl and felt the surge of power flowing through my body. I could barely manage it. Deothanos was laying helplessly on the floor and I could feel the movements of the universe around me.
I nearly lost focus on what I was doing this for when Kindra and Rachel ran into the room. They starred at me in wonder. I imagine I must have looked strange to them, my powers would have been fully manifesting and I would have been dripping in power. I nearly killed both of them simply for existing, that's when I looked into Rachel's eyes and there I found my purpose.
"Father!" Kindra shouted. She turned to Rachel and said, "Mother, we have to give him our powers to help him, he needs all the power he can receive."
The surge of power increased as they gave me, truly, honestly, and in love, gave me their powers. I felt my body lift into the air and I saw even clearer the universe before me.
I had to watch my words at this point because I could feel the universe bending to my will. I thought methodically and the words just came to mind, "Magic will no longer be given as it has hitherto been given. From this day forth anyone or any species, with any level of intelligence, who truly and diligently seeks to command the forces of magic will be allowed to control it. There are no constraints on scope or depth of the power they wield, except that the body will still be used as a focusing device and there is the limit."
I felt the power fading and my life beginning to dwindle.
*Kindra's perspective*
"Father!" I screamed as he fell to the floor and didn't move. I ran to his side and lifted his head up gently. "Father? You can't go father."
He smiled up at me, "It's alright my darling." Tears were streaming down my face, my mother reached us a moment later, "My beautiful wife. Don't cry, I knew this was going to happen. I didn't have a choice. If I had waited much longer he would have killed you both."
I buried my face into his chest. He looked years older than he had moments earlier.
He spoke again to my mother, "Rachel, go to Deothanos. Receive the virus he carries, you will survive the change and so will the child." He placed a hand on her belly, "He'll be a healthy baby."
I could no longer see the future, or anything else. Magic had truly changed as he had commanded. Mother didn't want to go. He sighed and with great effort he stood and walked with her to Deothanos. I sat and stared at him in amazement. My father would be a legend, I would make sure he was remembered. There he was dying and still he worried about my mother more than his own life.
Deothanos was still alive but only barely, the virus hadn't done it, losing his powers had. He left my mother near him and walked back to me.
"Kindra," He smiled and stumbled. I caught him and laid him down.
"Not a very fitting place for a hero to die," I joked. "We should at least move you to something not metal."
He smiled again and replied, "That will not be necessary. Metal is my home, it is more fitting that I die here than anywhere else. Kindra, you must survive. Watch over your mother, she will change and your brother will not be a human, but watch over them. In many years to come a child of his will seek you out and want to learn magic from you. You must be ready to teach."
"What will happen to me?" I wondered. "What will the virus do to me?"
"Nothing," He answered. "You are immune. So go, take your mother somewhere and help her until she gives birth, then go and learn the ways of magic."
"But father..." He cut me off.
"Kindra!" He raised his voice as much as he could. "This is the last command that I give you. Please obey me."
I hesitated, I didn't want to let him go. I had just gotten him back. Slowly I nodded, "Yes father. I will do as you command. I will be waiting for your descendant."
"Good," He smiled once more. "He won't be alone Kindra."
"I understand."
His smiled faded and he closed his eyes and stopped breathing.
"Father!" I put my head on his chest and cried for a long time before my mother urged me to leave. "Alright mother, let's go hide."
(What happened to Rain and Sterling? I don't know, you can make a post if you want Dee. Hope you aren't mad at me.)

Sterling's rude awakening
"What is going on" I just kept asking her, but she was in a rush and wouldn't tell me anything.
"You need to speed up time.."
"Right, and how am I going to do that? I can't even make a submarine with auto pilot."
"Uh, you have other powers."
Before I could ask her anything else she was out the door. Rain came up behind me. She stood silently and didn't say a word until I spoke, "what is going on here? and why are so so quiet all the time now?"
"I, uh, there's something I've been meaning to tell you. But this is hardly the time or place."
"Now is as good a time as any, especially if I die the minute I leave this building."
"You can't die, you need to take care of us." she stopped short, realizing what she'd just said.
I just stared at her in disbelief. She answered the question in my eyes with a crooked smile. "Right, then I guess I will have to go out there and fight for you." I said boldly, trying to sound macho. Maybe I over did it a little, because she giggled a little as I turned and marched towards the door. I had to think of something quick, something romantic and maybe a little cliche.
So I took a line from the popular earth film Gone with the Wind, "And if a bullet gets me, so help me, I'll laugh at myself for being an idiot. There's one thing I do know... and that is that I love you, [Rain]. In spite of you and me and the whole silly world going to pieces around us, I love you."
With that I was out the door.

It was coming to quickly, my father wasn't ready yet, Deothanos would not wait. I didn't blame him though, he only had a few weeks at best until he was powerless, I could sense the virus growing inside him. My mother had sensed him coming as well and was going to meet him and delay him as best she could, while I found Sterling.
He was in a room alone with Rain, I really didn't want to intrude but I had no choice. I knocked on the door once before walking inside. Fortunately they were just sitting together on one of the couches.
"Pardon," I said. "Sterling I need to talk to you, alone."
He excused himself from Rain and stepped outside with me and followed as I began walking off towards the exit.
"We need your special talents right now Sterling," I pleaded. "Not the power you are most familiar with."
"Why what's going on?" He asked. "Are we in danger?"
"Yes, Deothanos is outside right now battling with my mother," I informed him. "Only you can stop him."
"What do you mean?" He asked again.
"He's been infected with the virus," I told him. "He's got a few weeks before it begins to affect him. You can speed up time. Specifically the mutation rate of the virus, but it doesn't matter whether you simply age the virus a few weeks or his entire body or even all of us in this building, but you have to stop him Sterling. My father isn't ready yet and, if I woke him from the state he's in he'd die and all of this would be put to waste. My father will need us when he is finished, all of us."
We finally got to the door leading outside. I continued, "I'll be helping block his mental waves but I'm no match for him, all I can do is give you a fighting chance to succeed. Good luck."
I opened it and charged out into the open, invisible. He was busy fighting the shadows that seemed to be alive.

A Dark Room
"In moments we'll have apprehended all of your little terrorists," Deothanos spoke to the man who had issued the order to deliver the gas to the various cities. "It's over. We win."
"Do you really think I'd make it that easy?" The man spoke. He was chained to the chair he sat in. "My mind was so highly resistant to your attempts to steal the information."
"I checked twice and it was the same each time, I know you didn't make it up," Deothanos waved it aside. "Trying to trick me. Do you want more punishment?" He laughed, "You actually amuse me somewhat."
"You didn't get all the information from me," The man grinned. "There are bombs linked to each of my soldiers that was the gas. Bombs of sufficient magnitude to shatter the containers. They are set to explode if and when I die. Your mental probing weakened my body and I am holding on by shear will."
"You're bluffing. If you had that why haven't you just died yet?" Deothanos' question was answered by a beeping on the counter. It came from among the things they had found on the man now chained.
The man grinned, "All are in place. My bomb was set to explode with me as well. You'd better run."
He breathed out in a sigh of relief and suddenly all across the world bombs exploded in simultaneous destruction. The bombs themselves were minimal, but the gas they released was like a poison.
It moved and expanded, seeking out living targets. Infecting humans and then in a moment, it was gone. As if nothing at all had happened.
Back in the dark room Deothanos laughed and then suddenly sank to the ground, "Oh no. It is working. I only have a few hours. I have to make my move against them sooner than I thought."

I got out of the shower and got dressed, it hadn't even occurred to me that everyone else thought I was dead.
I walked out into the main area and didn't find anyone. I decided to extend my senses and find my dad. He was in his room, I think crying.
I went to his room and went invisible before walking in, he was having a conversation with my true mother.
Mom had a hand on his back and whispered in his ear, "It'll be alright Jared. She was a strong soldier and died fighting for us."
He looked up and sniffled, "I know, but I didn't even get the chance to tell her how much I love her. How proud I am of the woman she has become. Her powers and her abilities, her smile." He drooped his head down and Mom shushed him as he cried.
He had his head in a pillow and couldn't see me become visible. Mom did but I put a finger over my lips as she stood. I carefully sat down where she had been sitting and put my head on his back and wrapped my arms around him.
He stopped crying and sniffled again before sitting up and looking at me. He looked happy but he asked, "Is this a dream?"
I smiled, "No dad. I'm really here, Allison succeeded in the impossible."
Mom had left the room. He wiped his eyes and tried to pretend he hadn't been crying.
"I'm glad you're okay," He hugged me.
I stayed in his embrace for a while, human touch in such a protective way is something I hadn't felt in a year and it felt good. My powers showed me something I didn't want to see in that moment.
"Dad," I moved back from the hug. "Sorry to ruin the moment but we have a lot to be worried about."
He nodded, "I know, I helped a lot of it move along."
My eyes went wide, "You helped them steal the virus? But you were in prison."
"I helped them by making a huge distraction in the fight they caught me in," He shrugged. "I didn't have to get caught but since I was I figured I'd use it as many ways as possible against them."
"Well anyways," She said. "We need to stop them."
He shook his head, "This was my plan from the beginning. Deothanos will be stopped, one way or another."
"But if no one has magic, he wins," He was still smiling. It then hit me, "With this virus he will lose his magic as well. So we move to protect the virus?"
He shook his head, "It can't be stopped now. Not even Deothanos with the Jewl could stop it. We need to be prepared when it comes to us."
"Why?" I asked. "Prepared for what?"
"I'm going to make all of us temporarily immune," He smirked. "I'll need all of your help to do that. Sterling got here earlier and will be very helpful. Once the virus has spread across the world I plan on..." I put a hand on his mouth.
"I can see that Dad," A tear filled my eyes. "You know she's pregnant right? Mom doesn't even realize it yet but she is. That's why I made her stay back during the fight."
He nodded, "I know, we can both feel things about other people and other things. The hard part is getting Deothanos to come to us before he loses his powers."
I grinned, "That's the easy part. He knows we have the Jewl and he will need that to protect him from the virus."
Dad grinned back, "Let's prepare then."

The Meeting That Didn't Happen
A group of a few dozen were gathered in a room and the leader was standing in the front talking to them.
"We aren't like most terrorist organizations," He admitted. "We don't have any demands. We just want to kill people and have them fear our name. That's why we've stolen what we believe to be a high concentration of nerve gas for release in the general public around the world. Each of us has been given the extreme honor of carrying the gas in those canister that will be undetectable to anything short of opening it, which would make it too late anyways. We all have our targets. You have twenty four hours to get to your locations and, now set your watches, in exactly twenty four hours, release the gas."
The watches were all set to the same second and everyone disappeared into the streets and city, moving for their intended targets.

Sterling
We just sat there staring at one another, not knowing what to say. I'd never met a mermaid before. Just then, my ship crashed into a rock. I opened my eyes and looked around. My ship was dark and looked as though it had been thrashed around in the open sea. Apparently I had fallen asleep, I had not woken up, there was no mermaid, and there certainly wasn't an auto pilot.
"Stupid Mermaid, I wish she'd just leave me alone." I grumbled remembering that she had haunted my dreams for years. Is she of any significance? I don't think so. I tried to steer the boat but it was dead. The engine had likely been damaged on the rocks. On the bright side, I had made it to my destination alive. That was more than I could say about what I found left of the city.
Apparently I had missed the big war. Who knew? I felt a little remorse, but not as much as the others felt. Since I was not native to the earth I did not feel every death like my brothers, and my wife. I gasped as I realized that I was coming to rescue Rain, I had hoped I wasn't too late.
I weaved in and out of the city wishing I could sense the others like they could sense one another. Then I saw them. They looked like something from a movie. Just staring off into the wasteland, hand in hand, her hair gently blowing in the wind.
For a second I decided I didn't want to disturb them, but then decided I needed to find Rain. I cleared my throat a little. Jared turned and looked at me sternly, I blushed. I didn't know what to say. "You missed the party." he said sarcastically then looked the other way.
"So I see. Have you seen my w--uh Rain?"
"Yeah, she's inside." Rachel nodded towards the warehouse.
"Thanks. Sorry if I uh interrupted anything." Geez, that was a dumb thing to say. I brushed it off and went to find Rain.

Cayos of Thanos, ripples
the last thing Victor could remember was, he was filling out the report. putting the pen to paper while MB flew. it all seemed so fragmented at the time.
Groaning in a heap of metal Victor said "I liked that pen." though that was the least of Victors worries, smoke was flying into Victors face and his partner hacking up blood.
Victor "MB! MB! can you hear me!?!"
they were only 4hours from Florida and their Cessna had crashed on a small rock protrusion, complimentary a near by island.
Victor was able slip out of his harness, and he crawled his way over to MB,
MB:"That back stabbing-Alex he finally made his move." the missiles that had brought them down was from the sister plane they were flying with to catch Sterling. "if its the last time I see..." MB's face was turning blue and his eyes were beginning to roll back.
"shut up and stay with me!" Victor pleaded as he was looking for something to stop the bleeding.
Victor was tempted to use his corrosion power to dislodge MB, but the plane at that point would probably crushed.
the time was nearing dusk and Victor was punching MB in the face. "oh your not leaving that easy. whats the capital of Vermont! who's your uncle?" please answer.
mumbling deep from his breath MB replied "Dieing wont be so bad-" Victor cutting him off, "Dash it all, MB you don't-" Victor thinking fast and trying to help, "whats Canada's national bird! sing the national anthem?"
MB, "Victor-Victor he (Alex) was bad from the get go" pausing to take a wheezy breath "and stop asking though stupid questions. just let it go!... besides I have nothing to live for. my daughters a whore, my wife is gone and the man who ruined my life is by best friend. right now death sounds-" MB's strength began to wain.
Victor looked over to the sunset then back to his dieing partner. "give me your power, before you go unconscious, give it to me!"
MB replied faintly as his continuous was fading. MB "w-what?" Victor commanded "Give me your power or you'll Die!"
that dusk, MB mumbled his reply, but it was too late to save him.
the reason the crash didn't kill victor as well was that he had no hart. the cruel obedience contract the CDC gave him, was forcing him to live.
Victor pulled the last metal barb out of his chest were his hart should have been, blood flowing freely. "at least I know I can still die of blood loss" Victor curled into a ball and wept now staring into the night sky left to die. his spark weak.
somewhere else flying fast a mantis sprite was hurling threw the air trying to reunite with the host. "I know with in a block radios were Zack and were the other prisoners have gone to!"
lying on the rocky suffice Victor began to recant what MB last words from memory."Victor-Victor..."
Kindra
I found myself lying in a field when Allison appeared next to me. I smirked and laughed.
"Guess I didn't save you after all hm?" I grinned widely. "Oh well I just hope this is heaven."
She laughed right back, "This is your mind Kindra. You have to make a choice now, because I'm dead either way, but you have to choose whether you want to continue living or die with the rest of us."
"Why did you heal me?" I suddenly understood. "Why would you do that?"
She asked me something I didn't expect, "Why did you give your life to save me?"
"So you could continue living and do more good," I answered. It wasn't a hard question. "And because you are like my family."
She nodded, "And so you are to me. I gave you something every person wants. A chance to give their life twice for their family, don't waste it."
I smiled, "I guess my time has not yet come after all. Thank you Allison."
I stood up and consciously forced my mind back to my body. It hurt, it hurt a lot and I stank, but I was alive. No one else was here, other than the others who had died and so I took this opportunity to take a shower and get cleaned up, again.

Jared
I had been running for a while when a stalker found me. It took me a few minutes but I managed to kill it. I got to the base I told Rachel to head to after rescuing Kindra and I saw Kindra fighting on the battlefield against several stalkers but they couldn't touch her. I knew more would be coming so I went to make sure the others were alright.
"Rachel, Rain, Allison..." I looked down. "Where is Sterling? Where are the others?"
"They left us," Rachel answered. "We have to go help Kindra."
I nodded, "Let's go." The four of us ran out and I screamed inside when I saw Cali slice her fangs into Kindra's back. The stalkers looked at us and charged.
"Give me the Jewl," I demanded.
"Jared this isn't..." Rachel began to lecture.
"Give me the Jewl!" I shouted.
She handed it to me and I activated the power. I felt my powers grow like they had once before. The stalkers were charging and Cali was standing where she had been, waiting for something.
I could feel the DNA and other things they made the stalkers what they were and I screamed in rage. I raised a hand to show I was doing it and I killed each of them with a thought. I then appeared next to Cali, Rachel had teleported me.
"Cali," I growled. "How could you kill our daughter?"
She scoffed and yelled, "She barely acknowledged my existence. I went to her several times in prison but she told me to leave and that she never wanted to see me again. I'd say it was your fault but I know it's not! She's an ungrateful little brat that got exactly what she deserved!"
"And you will get what you deserve," I replied. "You see I have the power to make you anything I want, to change you anyway I want but the only thing I'm going to change, is your power. I'm going to give you the power of perfect memory, but of only one thing, you killing your daughter. I will burn that image into your mind until you are numb and then I will kill you."
Rachel bound Cali up in shadow shackles.
"Jared," Allison said. "She not gone yet. I don't know how but I can feel her still here, waiting."
My eyes lit up with hope, "Allison, I can't ask you to heal her, because it will probably kill you."
She looked at me oddly, "What do you mean?"
I smiled, "Because you don't heal people, not exactly, you heal yourself. You take other peoples wounds and make them your own, since you heal so quickly it looks like they are healed but if you absorb a wound this great I think it will kill you."
"That's okay," Allison smiled. "I think I should try."
Allison began to work and the wounds started to disappear. Cali scowled at the event but could do anything. After about an hour Allison fell over and stopped moving. Kindra was still on the ground, not moving.
After a few minutes we carried all those they had died inside and placed them in a room until we could find time to bury them.
I went outside and shook my head at the area, stray attacks had destroyed half the city. Police and military hadn't dared come try and stop the fighting or they were busy elsewhere. I tried to find some alone time but Rachel found me instead and comforted me.
"Rachel, Rain, Allison..." I looked down. "Where is Sterling? Where are the others?"

Ivar, Jessica and Mathis
Ivar dove in and out of the earth commanding huge chunks of rock to crush any enemy he saw. He did this for a few minutes and killed dozens of them. Jessica launched giant walls of fire across the battlefield, incinerating anyone unlucky enough to be caught inside. Mathis shot lightning at would be opponent and after at least a half hour the three were standing together and breathing heavily.
"I can't do this much longer," Ivar informed them. "I don't have the ability."
Jessica agreed, "We will have to retreat or die."
Mathis nodded, "We have to stay as long as possible."
They all agreed and then I, Kindra, approached them and spoke, "You three have done enough. You can retreat and recover, I will take care of the rest."
"You can't take them all Kindra," Jessica complained.
I turned to the wave of fast approaching enemies and nodded, "Then I die protecting the future of our race. You should be lucky to be considered worthy to fight for this cause, but if you don't have the will to fight for it, leave. However, if you have the will to fight, your bodies can't stop you from fighting. True you may die, but I would rather die free than live as a slave." I then turned back to them, "Wouldn't you?"
The three of them took courage in my words but I could see the fear in their eyes and I smiled, "Fear not, my father is not far. Just a little longer and we can rest."
We then began to fight with renewed strength. The others were on the brink of death when they came, stalkers made for each and every one of us. Jessica, Ivar, and Mathis were crushed in moments and the seven stalkers then turned on me.
"I know you can't hear me, nor do you care," I shouted. "But you will not get to Rain or my mother."
I became invisible but instead of only one being able to see me four of them could, which didn't make any sense. Before the ones that couldn't see me acted and went on to get the others I killed them. They had changed back into the old looking men and were easy targets. The other four were not so easy. After a few moments of dodging I understood, they had been programed, all four of them, to attack me. Deothanos knew my powers and knew one could no longer beat me.
I had been fighting just using physical combat like I had in prison but this called for desperate measures. I quickly changed my power and focused it in a very different manner than I had always used it. I focused it on the four of them, they were no longer even coming close to hit me, I moved before they had even realized they were swinging. I could see every movement and every motion, but I didn't even realize I was blind to everything else.
I managed to kill one of them before I was sliced deep across my back. I turned and saw a large cat looking down at me. I fell to my knees and smiled, "Goodbye Cali, father saw what you did."

Kindra
I had found and brought Mathis and Allison back to the base already, he had said something about finding a praying mantis on his shirt and he accidentally killed it. What bothered me, however, was that I knew they were moving my father but I couldn't figure out where they were or where he was.
My head popped up, "Oh no."
Everyone in the room looked at me and Jessica asked, "What is it?"
"A large number of our kind are almost here," I shouted.
"We should run then," Ivar said.
Rachel shook her head, "If they can track me while I'm a shadow they could track the rest of you on accident."
"She's right," I said. "Ivar, Jessica..." I was about to finish when Jeff appeared in the room.
He jumped to a different spot as someone had attacked his previous location, "Wait! I didn't come to fight."
"I know why you're here," I yelled at him. "We aren't interested."
"You won't be," Jeff agreed. "What about Johnson? Do you want a normal life Johnson? My master has promised that if any of you agree to surrender your powers he will give you a normal life to the best of his ability, which is great. That goes for all of you. You have five minutes. I'll be back then to take whomever wants that with me."
He disappeared. We argued for a few minutes but no one could say that Deothanos wasn't true to his word.
Johnson laughed, "I'm gone, sorry guys but I never wanted any of this to begin with."
Zach shrugged, "I did my good deed, I'm with him."
Jeff reappeared, "Alright whoever is coming over here."
I growled at him, "Tell your master this isn't over."
Johnson and Zach stepped up and he laughed, "Actually I think it is." Jeff and the other two disappeared.
I made a face, "Alright then. Ivar, Mathis and Jessica will form the front line. I will be right behind them and Rachel you stay back with Rain and Allison."
Rachel protested, "Why am I staying back?"
I didn't look at her, "You will find out."
Mathis looked distraught, "I don't have my powers."
Ivar looked at him, "If your penance has simply been to give us back our friend you have done enough."
I could feel the power surge back through his body and he smiled, "Thank you Ivar."
He nodded, "Let's get out there and show these guys why they messed with the wrong people."
They went outside and I followed, staying behind and keeping my eye out. I could feel them growing in this very moment, something that was supposed to be impossible unless... Unless my father had done more than he let anyone realize.
Ivar gathered the earth around his body and a moment later he jumped high into the air and disappeared beneath the earth. Jessica was engulfed by flames and Mathis was surrounded by lightning.
The battle was about to begin.

The Prison Yard
The prison was going berserk, all the guards were dead. The Sector A prisoners had escaped into Sector B and Sector C. Finally the horde of prisoners made it outside. Deothanos stood alone to greet them.
"I set you free," He informed them. "I have a task for all of you and if you don't agree I'll either put you back into prison or simply kill you."
One of the inmates appeared ready to challenge his command and charged. He reached Deothanos but was instantly lifted by the throat and, with a single arm, Deothanos snapped his neck.
"Anyone else wish to challenge me?" He shouted. No one stepped forward.
"Then bow and swear you'll follow me, Deothanos, even unto death!" Deothanos smirked. "Or I'll kill you right now."
The entire horde bowed and spoke in unison, "We swear to obey Deothanos unto death!"
Many in the group did not speak up and Deothanos knew this and looked at the group, "If anyone next to you did not speak the words, bring them forth so we can kill them."
Many died but even more swore to obey him.

Jared
The time had evidently come as I felt myself forced to consciousness by an unseen power. I was inside some sort of container. I removed the tubes that had previously kept me asleep and began concentrating. A moment later and the box burst from surrounding me as I altered it's chemical makeup and bonded it to my body. It was time to take my true form.
I was being escorted by several people with magic, but a few minutes later and they were all dead. I walked out of the area and headed back to Rachel, though it would be a long walk.
*In a new underground lair*
Deothanos was seated on a throne. Jeff appeared before him.
"You have bad news," Deothanos looked displeased. "What is it?"
"Jared has escaped," Jeff told him. Deothanos didn't like avoiding the point and that is why Jeff simply spat it out.
Deothanos slammed his fist into the throne, "How did this happen?"
"We don't know," Jeff assured. "We had given him enough sedative to kill an elephant."
Realization dawned and Deothanos smiled, "That brilliant underestimated Alex. Even in death he continues to fight me. He is the only one who would know, not only how to awaken him but where he would be during the transfer."
"Are you saying he told someone?" Jeff didn't understand.
"No you fool," He shook his head. "Alex may be dead but his spirit and his powers can cross back over because of the close connection he has to Jared, his twin brother."
"But they hated each other," Jeff said.
Deothanos smirked, "I'm afraid that doesn't matter, but for the record that was my doing."
Jeff may have understood slightly but didn't say anything.
"Anything else Jeff?" He asked.
"Yes my master," Jeff gulped. "The virus..." He paused.
"Well spit it out," Deothanos commanded.
"A few dozen containers of the unstable virus were stolen from the labs by unknown people," Jeff warned.
"By unstable you mean?"
"I mean they are designed to remove magic as much as possible from the first generation of infected by mostly to affect the second generation and remove it completely. The overall design allows it to keep the increased speed and strength and so it would make the perfect workers." Jeff explained.
"But?"
"But they have not yet been calmed down, they mutate every few minutes, who knows what would happen if this got out into the public," Jeff exclaimed. "We have to stop this."
"You work on that Jeff," Deothanos agreed. "But first it's time to move my plans ahead of schedule. I need my enemies destroyed so I can concentrate on this virus."
"It will be done."

Sterling
My mind was starting to play tricks on me. I had fallen asleep and found myself in an odd dream. I was with Rain and we were swimming in some weird underwater tunnel. There were leeches everywhere. Every once in a while there would be a spotlight in the water. Rain warned me not stop swimming and to stay in the light or something terrible would happen.
Of course, this was a lot harder than I had anticipated. As she warned, I had slowed my swimming and come into contact with what humans call a mermaid. Rain freaked out and grabbed my arm. She had to pull me out of the water quickly or I would turn into a merman as well.
I was weak, I didn't have the strength to help her, but somehow she managed to get me on dry land. Things looked grim, I had already started to sprout gills on my face. "I need. . ."
Just then I woke up to a loud horn. I must have been near a light house or something. I grabbed hold of my steering wheel and turned away from the shore. According to my map I was only a few miles from DC.
When I looked up from my map, I nearly had a heart attack. There in my windshield was a green woman swimming and staring at me. She wasn't frightened, but she looked unsure of her next move.
"What do you want?" I shouted at her.
She started to swim away, but then turned back and put her hands on my windshield. It was like she wanted to communicate with me but had forgotten how. Just then she looked up suddenly, and then swam away beneath my ship very quickly.
A large net dropped in front of me gracefully. I just stared in awe, wondering what to do. Then a thought came to me, I needed to save the mermaid, but how? I had awoken before Rain told me what to do.
I decided that I had better act fast and worry about that other part later. I opened the bottom of my ship and saw the girl swimming beneath me. A look of relieve came over her as I pulled her into my ship. Then I closed the hatch and threw the switches into reverse. What was I thinking? For all I knew she could be working for the enemy.
